I have ran a hundred or so discs through mine. Like you I found the provided polish/compound to be junk and went with Meguiars Ultimate Compound/Polish. I have found that just compound/polish will do the trick on even really bad games. I haven't used a sanding disk on the last 80 or so games I have cleaned. Usually I do 3 minutes compound/1.5 minutes polish on bad disks, and 2 minutes compound/1 minute polish on less damaged disks. The sand paper just takes way too much of that protective layer away, where as using only compound/polish, if it doesnt worl after the first round, one more go through will get it. So far with this method I have only had 1 disc that was too far beyond repair. Enjoy the machine! It's a great investment a lot of collectors overlook.
It was definitely a learning curve to get it working 100% but I agree a great investment for any collector
I’ve also been looking to get one for myself in case I encounter another disc that doesn’t read. (The one I got will be run through at my local gamestore for free)
Yeah, the compound and sandpaper are junk.
I immediately switched to Meguiars, and IF I use the sandpaper, I make sure to spray the disc with water first, and then only sand it for a maximum of 10 seconds. Other than those two, it is a great beginners machine. When you can afford it, upgrade to the Eco Pro 2 or Hybrid 2.0
One protip I could give you as a fellow owner is to cut a piece of fabric or towel a small ring the inner diameter of the disc so when you tighten down the knob it doesn't leave the smudge like how you got there. After that it's happy days resurfacing. I love the machine it saved so many expensive games that I owned.
Thanks for the advice I'm going to give that a shot. Great idea!
@@theconsolecollector Bro I wanted to tell you that I was amazed with the results from your video with the 3M I'm looking forward to getting a set of the perfect it but it's kind of expensive for me. I had purchased the 8oz bottle of the step 3 of the perfect it and it removed all the swirl marks left it looking mirror finished! I think you should try it since steps 1 & 2 did good but add step 3 for perfection!
can't you just rub the smudge off?
@@adonis699 depends what you use, you will create more fine scratched than removing them even using the micro fiber cloths to clean glasses are really refined and still leave scratches on the disc if not very careful with.
Or go to a hardware store and get a rubber washer, place it under the screw.
This looks like it works great! I’m pretty impressed!!!
Binge watching your videos on my day off. Good stuff
Awesome that you got a jfj easy pro. I plan to get one also.
It's definitely worth it if you have alot of disc based games
Just bought one. 2 weeks ago. Great intro on how to use.
Awesome hope you enjoy it. I know I've gotten some good use out of mine
I really would like to try using car compound than the one that the machine comes with because I see good results in some videos, but I did try it once and destroy my jfj, some I don’t want to break another one.
I love your channel!
Thank you that means alot!
Nice it looks really good my buddy got a resurfacer from one of my local family videos that closed down
Awesome they are a great thing to have for sure. He is lucky!
@@theconsolecollector Yeah they gave him a good deal on it
Those are very good
Que motor usa?
Voltaje
Amperaje
Revoluciones rpm
Great investment Great video bro anyone can find good used for that thing question though how long did the process take like per disc repair
Depends on your method the machine has a learning curve and everyone has different techniques. I own the machine so typically I do 10 seconds sanding then 1 minute or 2 of buffing depending on the amount of scratches and how deep they are.
I know that people use the toothpaste method but this might be the best one out there
I bought a few George Strait CDs and a thrift store and I was able to fix them with this machine
Amazing. I was able to fix a few cd for people. It works great for those too
I have discs that need to be done bro ;)
Can anyone help me I ordered smash bros for my gamecube and when I got it in the mail I was disappointed to see that it’s scratch to hell it will still boot up and you can play but it skips on certain load screens and stop working
You can either find a retro game store that can resurface or use scratch removals like Novus and a microfiber cloth to treat your GameCube disc
Just got one of these. The compounds you are using don’t look like the ones they provide. Can you share what you used?
I found the included compounds they used to be no good. I use 3M automotive polish. Stage 1 and stage 2 from their 3 stage line up
Smart stuff here. Thank you. It is very similar to auto detailing. Now, I am experimenting with these new one-stage compounds like Turtle wax, One and Done where pad choice makes all the difference. I use the Simotec machine, but the consumables are no longer available.
If I get this machine, I would grab my old scratched DVD from the attic.
You should. I've saved alot of old dvds with it
Where did you purchase it and what was the cost?
I got mine off Amazon over a year ago. It will work on black ps1 games. I've saved a couple of them with this machine.
The price seems to fluctuate with these lately. It's a great investment
Will this work on small discs like GameCube?
These machines will, however there is an additional part required for Gamecube games which does not come with the initial unit
Will this work on black PS1 games?
No.
That’s a black ring or a rubber band ?
It's a black rubber ring
Is possible put a 4k disc
Blu ray yes.. never tried a 4k
You can’t see all of what your doing.
Nice machine but eco pro 2 waaaaaay better
This is my 1st machine does what I need it to. If I upgrade I'll check out a better unit
I’m not spending 1,599,00
