- I've had my Sphynx Roswell for 7 years and I've learned a lot about him and the breed. There's a lot people don't talk about and I wanted to share what I've learned and make you all aware of some things that no one ever told me!
This is my first video and it is slightly chaotic which describes me perfectly;) Follow along for more videos of life with hairless cats and more!

I used to breed Sphynx cats, and still have 4 elderly ones ranging in age from 17 to 22 years. Mine are the "super nakey" ones, and really have never had problems with eye boogers. They do need to be kept very clean, and mine do like water. I have a hard time keeping them out of the shower when I'm taking one. Since they don't have a hair coat, the oils they produce do get all over everything. This oil is called sebum. Their wrinkles need to be cleaned as well, as do their nail sheaths. A lot of people don't realize how much grooming these hairless breeds really do need. Baby wipes (unscented) are a must. They're great for giving their faces a cleaning. And yep, they do eat a LOT---they have a higher metabolic rate than other cats. I feed raw, so smelly poop isn't a problem. Also, white (pink) areas on these cats can get sunburned, so be careful about them sleeping in a sunny spot. Sunburn can lead to skin cancer, just like in people. These cats also require more dental care than other breeds as well. That's tied in with the hairlessness. (Jan Griffiths).
Thanks for the great info

Huh
Why would you do that breed cats bred from a pair of genetically mutated cats horrible i bet they cos a fortune too
Eye booger shaking is All that needed to be said for me 🌳🏃🏾♀️
"This is why I can't have nice things"- pretty sure every cat owner said this at least once lol
You've got a great sense of humor...and the presentation is fantastic..I learned alot...but Toothless and I like to watch Leela and the new kitten...sorry for roswell's loss... please put more vids up if you can. Toof and I are waiting not so patiently for more content...thanks...oh and squeeze the kittens for us...!
A few of the things you mentioned here are purely dietary issues. They do have sensitive stomachs when fed subpar kibble. Cats are carnivores and get much of their hydration from their meals. If you were to switch to raw, your cat's digestive issues should settle down, the poop will be smaller and less odorous, and there would be less oil/gunk build-up on their skin, and in and around their eyes and ears.
That's true. I used to raise them, and still have 4 elderly Sphynx. I've always fed raw. (Jan Griffiths).
Yep. The breeder I got mine from Feeds dry royal canine and they came to me smelly and oily and very stinky poos. Once they were comfortable I switch to raw and all of those issues went away. I bath way less frequently and ears much cleaner.
If the cat poop smells really bad, then either they aren't digesting the food properly or the litter isn't absorbing the moisture in the poop properly.
One of my cats has a sensitive stomach and his poop was foul smelling before we changed his diet. One of our litterboxes is in the living room/dining room and you wouldn't know - you really can't smell it.
I also don't use clay based litters. Used to use crystal, now I use soy. Both are super absorbent. Other than literally when they poop, you don't smell it once the material absorbs the moisture in the poop.
What kind of soy do you use for litter and where do you get it? I would worry about the cost of that. I live in Canada. It's very expensive.
@phoenixivyroots7084 I use KitCat brand litter. I buy in bulk so it isn't significantly more expensive.
@@SLTheOneAndAwesome19 -It doesn't seem to be available here, but I will keep my eye out for it. Thanks.
I’m dying the wall behind our cat wheel is COVERED in eye boogers 😭
And they are impossible to get off! 😭
Use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on your wall. Should get those boogies right off. (Jan Griffiths).
awww Marshal is so so so cute ( like a little human )
Cute video! I have two Sphynx cats, Niles and Casper. I have had them for 7 years, as well, but have almost none of the problems you listed. I know it is possible so just know results may vary with one Sphynx to the next. Oh, they are hands down the most lovable cats I have ever owned!
So so funny! Sounds like alot of work!! I know it's not funny to you. Very informative!! Thank you
I loved your video and learned so much about this amazing breed. Royal Canin is an EXCELLENT brand and is held to a higher processing standard than even human cereal. ❤
You rock! Stay strong we will see him again Jesus has him now🙏🏽😘😿love peace and blessings love you so so much roswell
My long haired fluffy boy adopted me a few years ago, when he was a teeny babe.
One thing ive learned about my long haired guy... ya need to do tushy trimmings on his butt feathers 😅. If you dont, youll be trimming poopy butt feathers instead.
Lol sharing just in case Leela ever decides to grow some fuzzy pants.
Exactly I have two Spinx cats and they do all of these things and I do agree. I wish someone told me all about these things when you own a Spinx this is so relatable
Sorry I’m late the the game watching this! You did such a great job! ☺️ Excellent editing! So cute! And funny 🥰
Thank you! 🥰
Wĥen we got our last kitten we kept him just in my son's room for the first few days, and we had to slowly transition him off of the commercial food he was on to a raw diet. My poor son, we had forgotten just how much the poop stinks on commercial food. I don't really understand why people still use it. They also poop less with a raw dìet because there's no useless filler in raw food. Another bonus? My oldest cat is 8, and has been on a raw diet since he was 5 months old. I never brush his teeth so I asked our vet if we should get him a dental treatment. He said "Why?!? His teeth are perfect!". No carbs to turn into sugars to cause tooth decay. They also get chicken necks every day.
Also blue buffalo sensitive stomach works with my nakies
Good to know. You’re cats are so cute. ❤
Thank you for your service ahahaha. I hope despite all of this you get to love and be loved by your lil aliens for many many years to come.
Lindsey, would you say sphynx is different in personality then donskoy?🤓💕
I have a hairless cat to they are so sweet ❤❤❤ they love to cuddle😊❤
I had a Roswell, only he was a ball python who had markings that looked like alien heads. He lived to be 26 years old. I called him Roz most of the time. (Jan Griffiths).
I also have a Sphynx cat and I totally relate to the eye boogers 😂 I find even cleaning my baby’s eyes every morning… I’ll find eye boogers on the wall or on doors etc….. it’s not pleasant lol
I never laughed so hard hearing about the eye boogers!!
My longhair cat and my standard poodle also get eye boogers, I just get them out with a clean finger or an q-tip. I think they’d be so much easier to get out when the boogers have no fur to stick to
I have two. Nebula and Newman.
good to know!
So cuuuteeeeeeeee 🥰😍💖💗💓
Not eye boogers everywhere. Omg I'm grossed out 🙇♀️🙇♀️🙇♀️😊
yes i can relate to this 😂😂😂
lol she named her cat after a county in Georgia, I'm dying lol
My floofy cat needs help with her eye boogers too
I love ❤
Hi Lindsey
Put a sweater on him all the time then he won't be cold.😊
Mine always have their sweaters on. They're old Sphynx. Oldest is 23, youngest is almost 18. In summer, they wear little t-shirts to protect them from the sun. (Jan Griffiths).
you are not lying but idc it's well worth it. :)
Also sphynx usually got more health problems 😢
At least they are one of the most kind sort of cat ❤
So funny that the first thing was that his eyes are usually closed and the first real thing was that he gets eye boogers cuz he can’t get things out of his eye naturally. That would make sense if he kept his eyes closed to not get dirt in them. I just find that funny 😂
at least i'm not the only person who has sphynx cats
my birthday is in June🎉
I love your videos
Please repli
Sorry for spelling mistakes I am a child
Saying you “bought” a pet when there’s millions to adopt is so wild to me. Wth are these people thinking
💯💯💯
Is this the same with Leela?
Nope! Not at all! She is way less maintenance.
Make more videos with you a cat
Wipe your boy down in Colloidal silver once a week. Game changer for the skin oils and staining.
Putting it in their water also works well. (Jan Griffiths).
Yeah
Where did you get them? I really want a super nakey kitty!
Cats get eye boogers ?
Hairless ones do! You’ve been warned 😝
My cat is not hairless and she has eye boogers or also known as sleep in the eye
Cats, Dogs they all do
Cats, dogs, horses. Even guinea pigs and pet rats and ferrets get them. (Jan Griffiths).
❤❤❤😊😊😊🎉 LeAhni♥️5🙃
Praise the LORD for creating cats!
Put plastic on your furniture LOL.😅
Please get the eyes of your sphynx checked by a vet..your cat has an eye infection..i worked 8 yts in vet clinic and am trained cat groomer from NCGI. Justed adopted one from a client that had lots of eye discharge and recognized the signs if eye infection..he had a lot of brown stuff in ears too ..sure enough he had eye and ear infection!
I think it definitely depends on the cat and/or health of the cat. My guy (a fuzzy nakey fellow) has feline herpes, so the eye boogers and crusts are worse than with a typical cat, but that's even when he is not in a flare up. Herpes also destroyed his eye to the point of needing it removed. He's got nasty little ears too, but it isn't an ear infection. They just don't have the hair to absorb the oils.
@@leslie1085
I honestly didn't know cats could _get_ herpes!
Was, uhhh... was your little guy ssssexually active and forgoooot to use protection orrrrr... maybeee, not judging, we all have our issues, buuuut, were they, maybe... sharing needle drugs? Like I said, I'm not judging, just hoping they're getting the help they need, like a methadone clinic or something. 😬
I'm just kidding, tho I honestly didn't know cats could get herpes. Is there medication they have to take to keep the flare ups down or is that just for hoomans? Poor little kitty. Show me on the dolly where the bad man touched you and I'll whomp 'em good for ya!
Thanks!
Thank you!
lol @ major nakey
Dont get a sphynx its cruel they live on average 6.8 yrs and were bred from a pair with a genetic mutation some have no whiskas which is beyond cruel
Some breeds should be forbidden. People need to talk a lot more about it and should stop romanticizing those breeds online, since peolpe think "naww, that's so cute, I want one too!"
I have a 6 year old Sphinx male, he is completely bald, has never had an eye booger, or any eye problem ever, does not go to the bathroom more than any other cat, does not smell at all, no stomach problem, but then again ,I know how to care for cats!
10000% agree! 😊 I have a 4 yo donskoy sphynx cat. They need a lot of care, that’s all
Dah . Internet. Library. A vet.
No excuses for not knowing .
You must do your research before getting a sphinx. If you said no one told you . Also some things you say are not all true about sphinx cats . I would be concerned about your cats eyes
Can someone help :( my Sphynx kitten is driving me crazy with incessant meowing and need to be held at ALL times. He just scaled my back as we speak to lick my lips :( this is too much for my personality type. I'm thinking of rehoming him. Do kittens ever change and stop being sooo crazy?
🤬😡
😂if not their eyes it's something else. Try having a baby then later get a pet best way. Or distract you.
I have a Abisinian cat it eats a lot and costs more
I have owned 4 sphinx’s my first was amazing zero eye boogers. He was perfect personality was amazing. He passed away and I was it so much pain so I ended up buying 3 sphinx..yes I know it was a very pretty penny but my heart was broken. I ended up rehoming all of them due to their behavior and medical condition that the breeder was well aware of when they were born. All three would sneeze all day and every day boogers on me and my kids clothing yes big long boogers to the point that we needed to change our clothes. No medication would help they are all sneezing until this day even going back and forth from the veterinarian. The adopters kept in touch with me so that’s how I know they are still sneezing.
Could’ve been feline herpes. Mine ended up having that. He would always get eye and ear infections
@@dracoandkodak9737 did your cat ever heal 💯? I just recently adopted 3 sphinx and they are so amazing healthy no sneezing. I adopted them from 3 different places.
@@arlenesusanarivera7809 it’s just something he will always have. He gets a nasal spray vaccination every 6 months to stop his flare ups. He does good with that
Our fur babies are worth it because we love them, not because they're a certain breed. I'm so confused where this idea that adopted pets can't be loving and friendly too.
my sphynx cat don’t eat that much
Btw sphynx cats are the best ❤

hearing this video i dont think its cute to breed these cats
My friend owns one. It is literally the most disgusting objectionable thing I have ever met. All of what she says is true, plus also add to the list, that it is annoying, needy, and smells. I would strongly suggest getting any other pet. It's awful!
My dream breed to own. I will one day own a cutie like your kitty. I have a Cornish Rex, and I love her so much. I think I love her more than my kids. Don't tell them! Oh hang on they already know. Lol. She is awesome. 13 in Sep, but acts like a kitten and looks about one. I love her so much. She means the world to me.
Had cats all my life, my mum loves cats and so do my kids.
Also own a British shorthair, but my cats can't live together. So she is at my parents.
I prefer cats to dogs anyday.
Please consider adopting instead of buying a breeded cat 🙏
Hi Lindsey
Hi there!
