I'll never understand why people need to "race". What 's the point....I mean, you miss all the scenery around you! I prefer the Trek 520....built for long trips, and lots of enjoyment. I'm not a GERBIL on a damn treadmill!! But it's a free country...but I just don't understand people who have to turn everything into a stupid race.
Trek bikes are ALL made in Asia (China / Taiwan) If I want an Asian bike I would get Giant. Shame on Trek. Go hire some people and get them to make your own bikes dudes. If you pay me enough I can well Man-Up your sugar candy company.
Most carbon fiber is produced and cooked in Asia because that's where the factories are. bianchi1885 is right, the bikes are designed by Trek, they are just manufactured where the factories are. There are also factories in the U.S. Trek may not want to use those. Take this quote from bicycling.com , "Per a 2010 US Department of Energy report, more than 90 percent of the world’s carbon-fiber supply comes from just six companies: Toray, Toho Tenax, Mitsubishi Rayon, Zoltek, Hexcel, and Cytec. Toray, Toho, and Mitsubishi account for almost two-thirds of global carbon fiber production. Zoltek, Hexcel, and Cytec are headquartered in the US, and make a little less than a third of the world’s carbon fiber. " If you don't like it. Do it yourself. See how you fair.

Criação incrível.
I know a guy who has one of these, it's epic. I race with him.

Now if Trek could just make a mountain bike that actually fits a 5'7" male without vast size discrepancies.
He means 172 cm.
If only I could buy the frame set for $1,500.
