ok so this isn't mine but i saw this really great theory, credits to the original person that thought of it the calamari inkantation was originally sung by humans. it was made to cope with the time of war. (ww3, 4, and 5) and since it was so special, humanity put the song into the crystals that they put in the sea (i think thats what happened? idk i haven't read the alterna logs in forever) and so because of that, the calamari inkantation is literally etched in the inkling's and octoling's dna, and the squid sisters made their own version of it. and it helps explain why mind control loses its effects when the song is heard.

When i was younger, my dad left, and I didn’t see him much after,I just saw him every now and then,but about 3 years later I had to move away, leaving everyone behind. I’m still really sad about it but I’m glad. I could meet many new friends, just like the lyrics. Now it’s 2023. Thank you so much for making this, you made my day.

I literally almost cried seeing this comment 😭❤️ Thank you so much! I always hope that people would notice my attention to detail and you seem to have noticed it all! The reason the footage all syncs up throughout the song is because I do keyframe time remapping, I speed up and slow down footage so the visual beats sync to the musical beats. I use a setting called "optical flow" that makes slow footage appear nice and smooth. It takes hours to fine tune it, the shot of Octavio at 2:38 took longer than any of them but I'm proud of how it turned out! Your comment just made my entire Easter ❤️

This was the first official Squid Sisters song that I heard from actually playing the game since I've only played Splatoon 3, and now I finally get to sing along to it! I love the lyrics! EDIT: now that I think about it, this will be an amazing video in the long run as the game gets older - reminiscing all the memories of playing the story mode through the clips with such a great background tune!

I can’t even put into words what this song means to me. Alongside it playing at the end of the splatoon 3 campaign (splatoon 3 being the first game in the series I played), in a way, it also marked the start of a turning point in my life. I had made myself that promise of taking care of myself. Now I’ve not got long left before leaving a country where I no longer feel I can live safely and will return to where I grew up. It truly is a “Wave Goodbye” to the last four years. It’s amazing to listen to, and as always with Koi’s videos the visuals are very well done 💕 looking forward to many more years in the community! ✨

I just love it when Marie sings. 😭😭😭 It's so magical. You can hear the feeling in her voice. I can't really explain it. But she always sings in a style that I love so much, which is why every melody and note she sings brings joy to my heart. Marie is truly amazing. While Callie just sounds like a cute girl with a high pitched voice singing, Marie sings so majestically.

We shall all wave goodbye to 2022, but that doesn't mean it's over. We cherish the memories, love, and passion we shared and give this year.

I never played any Splatoon games in my life, yet I'm getting Splatoon 3 this year (since I became a Splatoon fan this year) to catch the Final Fest at least. I actually can hear some of the same sound motifs of Tomorrow's Nostalgia Today. Crazy how Wave Goodbye came first and yet they share some of the same motifs. Makes one wonder if they made both songs and just held back on Tomorrow's Nostalgia Today for DLC release.

This song gives me so much, mother and father saying goodbye to their son moving out vibes. Always feels like the squid sister are saying goodbye to you as you move on to the next chapter of the game 😭
There’s nothing like listening to this with headphones that register the 3d audio and hearing the voices of humanity just echoing around your ears, gives me the chills and goosebumps every time I listen to it, regardless of if I’m wearing headphones or not… absolutely perfect and makes me want to cry every time…☺️

The reason the footage all syncs up throughout the song is because I do keyframe time remapping, I speed up and slow down footage so the visual beats sync to the musical beats. I use a setting called "optical flow" that makes slow footage appear nice and smooth. It takes hours to fine tune it, the shot of Octavio at 2:38 took longer than any of them but I'm proud of how it turned out!

This was the first official Squid Sisters song that I heard from actually playing the game since I've only played Splatoon 3, and now I finally get to sing along to it! I love the lyrics!
EDIT: now that I think about it, this will be an amazing video in the long run as the game gets older - reminiscing all the memories of playing the story mode through the clips with such a great background tune!

I can’t even put into words what this song means to me. Alongside it playing at the end of the splatoon 3 campaign (splatoon 3 being the first game in the series I played), in a way, it also marked the start of a turning point in my life. I had made myself that promise of taking care of myself. Now I’ve not got long left before leaving a country where I no longer feel I can live safely and will return to where I grew up. It truly is a “Wave Goodbye” to the last four years. It’s amazing to listen to, and as always with Koi’s videos the visuals are very well done 💕 looking forward to many more years in the community! ✨

the story mode for splatoon 3 was so amazing and well written for the first day i played it for 7 hours straight lol definitely made me cry a few times

I just love it when Marie sings. 😭😭😭 It's so magical. You can hear the feeling in her voice. I can't really explain it. But she always sings in a style that I love so much, which is why every melody and note she sings brings joy to my heart. Marie is truly amazing. While Callie just sounds like a cute girl with a high pitched voice singing, Marie sings so majestically.
