Wonder how many mechanics were invited to these events. I worked for a couple of airlines and mechanics are always treated like shit because they spend money while every other department brings in money
I always fly first class with Alaska Airlines! You guys are truly amazing! My trips to Mexico are only better when I know I'm traveling comfortably with Alaska ❤ This merge with Virgin America sounds exciting 😍 I hope you guys add the same color lighting as the on the planes ❤
Idk i mean i know all the planes are being repsinted but not sure how thr lighting will be either we eill add lights to out boeings or remove the lights from airbusses
The merger of Virgin America and Alaska Airlines was such a worthless mistake. So unnecessary. All because people at the Board of director's of both companies made hundreds of thousands of dollars. If not millions of dollars. That's who really benefited.
TBH Virgin wasn't going to last long on it's own. Despite making profits towards the end, they were bleeding financially. JetBlue would've been a better fit, but that's a big reason why Alaska swooped in to take VX.
@@afakasi596 Yes and no. Starting an airline is always front loaded, as far as R.O.I and finances go. Starting an airline right before a global recession will set you back even farther. And then starting a relatively PREMIUM airline of all things will be the hardest, financially and take the longest to make money on. Virgin America not only did all 3, they also managed to grow and grow and grow, year over year - while also (slowly) digging out of that debt from starting up. Clearly no small accomplishment. Critically, the consistent financial reports from the last 3 fiscal years BEFORE the Alaska takeover clearly showed Virgin was becoming exponentially cash positive, without ever having to be bought out. But the investors just wanted their money and saw it as the perfect time to cash out. Yes, JetBlue was a WAY better fit because - not just because they also used Airbus jets, and not just because each airline was strongest on its individual coast, but because JetBlue is also trying to focus on the customer experience. Alaska, however never understood the true value of the Virgin Brand, beyond current routes, hubs and workforce. When Alaska's CEO retired this year, they commented to a media outlet about how they only bought Virgin out of fear that Alaska world get bought out themselves if they didn't grow - and how they actually borrowed $400 million from Boeing, directly, just to outbid JetBlue. Let that sink in a minute... (btw this was obviously NOT public knowledge until just recently) Meanwhile, can you imagine what would have happened if JetBlue borrowed money from AIRBUS to buy out another domestic all-airbus fleet? Politicians would have been up in arms 100%
I cannot believe the Virgin Airlines experience will be no more. There is no other airline like it in terms of its focus on the CUSTOMER. When you purchase a flight from Virgin, you're buying more than just that. The flight is guaranteed to be ENJOYABLE - you're guaranteed the opposite almost anywhere else. If they could have expanded to more airports, Virgin would have eventually prevailed, but unfortunately competition is extremely limited in the airline industry. New players like Virgin have a tougher time getting in the game, despite offering a clearly superior experience to anyone else - while the big, established airline companies don't do shit and yet still hoard all of the customers and airport space. This acquisition is a complete shame - everyone make sure to book your flights with Virgin before 2019 rolls around and they're gone forever. :(
@@shadymagician5543 if wanting to have a thoughtful pleasant flight with minimal stress makes them a horrible person then I must be the devil. You either never flew Virgin America or you're just super loyal to some other bland airline - for reasons I'll never understand. Virgin America was the best Domestic Airline since Braniff International and the original version of Southwest in the 1970s. Now it comes down to Delta - and then maybe Alaska - for consistency of customer care and overall travel experience. Jet Blue is not too bad either, but on the routes Virgin America flew, there's not a lot of JB Flights anyway
@@MirzaAhmed89 fun fact, east coast folks were less excited about Virgin America but I haven't worked out why that is exactly... Not sure if it's because they just want to sleep on the plane or if they just want the cheapest ticket. What I CAN tell you is that you don't see any domestic airlines (aside from Delta) offering passenger entertainment screens in economy. On top of that, nobody had better in flight food in economy than Virgin (and Delta only tied Virgin for first class menu). And yes, Virgin won awards year after year for on time fights, customer service, baggage handling, innovation, in flight food and service, but most importantly, customer satisfaction. Critically, when things are going smoothly, many airlines ARE decent, but when it gets hectic, that's where other airlines get the bad rap and overall, Virgin handled unexpected situations the best in the eyes of their passengers But again, some people just wanna get from A to B for as little as possible... so if you just expect to be on a flying bus on a normal day, NOT during peak travel times, and you don't check a bag when you fly, and you don't want to eat food while you're on a plane, and you hate mood lighting, easy check in, and warm authentic customer service, then yes... you're probably not going to see why people loved Virgin America so much.
Alaska will take Spirit, Frontier,Jet Blue,Southwest,Untied, American,Delta,And lots of others Virgin America was just the beginning. Go Alaska airlines!!!!
As a passenger on the final VX flight, watching this in 2024 feels nostalgic
Miss Virgin America a lot!
I’m crying I miss this airline :(
Same
RIP Virgin America 😭😭
We remember and we will always love you!!!
Why do you have to make me cry with virgin americas theme. New lyrics: So tonight get ready to *cry because we gonna give it all up out the skys.*
Rip
I just hate how people were celebrating Alaska but no one seemed sad about Virgin.
So I saw Alaska's safety dance video, and I remember Virgin America's safety video😥
And so that's how Alaska today got its roots for the Safety Dance and its hip image...
So tonight, get ready to fly
‘Cuz we’re gonna live it on up in the sky (whoo-oh!)
Virgin America knows all the places you wanna be
Fly away with me, fly away with me, yeah
Great to see Brad on stage celebrating with everyone. He has come a long way & the leadership team at Air Group is Excellent.
They better not get rid of Virgin America's Airbus series! That's why I admired Virgin America so much--for their Airbus fleet.
Alaska A320 oh we are keeping them they will just be repainted and redone but they are being added to our fleet actually we are in thr prosses of merging the 2 systems
Alaska has cool Boeing fleet it isn't American airline because it doesn't have beings.
They are retiring the 320s by 2023 so plenty of time

Goodbye Virgin America.
Yes, no mas? maz? Whatever, Sayonara amigo
Don't ruin Virgin America by turning it into the 1990's flashback that is Alaska.
2017 Alaska is very different from 1990s Alaska.
Mirza Ahmed Alaskan airlines is bland
Chris John Michael their mileage plan is amazing, also I fly Virgin First class across the country all the time for the price of coach.
Alaska is good come on.
I see where Alaska Airlines got the hip part of its marketing and Safety Dance from...Virgin America!
I miss Virgin America

Noel Arbis they are!!!
We are keeping the plsnes judt repainting and redoing the inside
Just get it over with. Paint them now.
Pls keep Virgin America as a separate airline
You can tell how strongly the employees feel when nine months later I still see some of them with lanyards that read "This merger won't fly".
two awesome air carriers... can't wait to see what they come up w/ together!
Not gonna lie but I liked how it said virgin on the old Virgin America planes
