Just did mine. Had a cylinder 3 misfire, swapped coils with #2 and the misfire followed. There was definitely some quirks to this job. That strut tower brace was really in the way so I had to move mine. Most importantly though the stupid plug socket I got from ECS wouldn’t fit any of my extensions. So I had to literally hammer one In and now that’s my permanent BMW plug extension. Also, I was also surprised that the coil tubes were at a slight angle to the plugs. The socket and extension don’t go perfectly straight in. I also had a scare with #6 - plug was WAY too tight. That’s what you get with a mystery used car though I guess. I’m an old school shade tree diy guy, haven’t messed with older cars in a long time though, 20 years? Was surprised that anti seize was NOT recommended. Back in my day in the 1900s anti seize was a must. Parts store guy had never even heard of it. Glad I googled it.

Nice work Jake! I just finally posted up my version of this DIY in 4K on my channel. One interesting thing to note is that the BMW workshop manual specifies a flexible extension or universal should be used with the spark plug socket to prevent potential insulator damage. In the real world it's not really necessary if you're experienced like you and I, but thought it was worth mentioning in the DIY for others.

Injectors are expensive. I had index 1 in my car. They didn't leak, but definitely caused me some issues with mileage. Be careful if you find some used ones because you have to get new o-rings that seat into the head and that requires a special tool

Jake, not to be offensive but you need to read, understand & comment on dimensions such as the “Feeler Gauges” you were using in this video. You stated you were using a “200 thousandths gage” when in fact you had a “20 thousandths gage”.
I am a professional inspector and have inspected parts for cars, trucks, military vehicles and components on the international space station so I have some history in this.
Think of it this way, a human hair is approximately “4 thousandths of an inch (0.004)”; an 1/8 of an inch is 0.125; a quarter of an inch (1/4”) is 0.250 or called out as 250 thousandths. You mentioned 200 thousandths which is 10 times bigger than you wanted. Hope that helps you as you have helped me to work on my sons car.

I'm getting misfires and cylinder deactivation when I give it more than half throttle. Is this because I need colder Spark plugs? The online guide suggests the -1 colder NGK plugs for FBO, but Jake seems to be suggesting -2 for what looks to be a similar build?

Turbos could be fine, but if they take a crap, you can get stock replacements for cheap or upgraded ones for a couple thousand dollars. A few hundred bucks here and there for gaskets, etc. Oil filter housing, valve cover, oil pan gasket, etc.
