- Empire Service trains race in and out of NY's capital at speeds up to 110mph.
*Note: One of the videos had audio file issues and as a result is very quiet. I included the clip anyway as I went through hell to get the shot :)
Thanks for watching!

That banked curve
VERY nice compilation of Amtrak in NY. And all moving at a decent clip, no less.
Thanks very much!
Those P32s look so sharp in phase 3!
The second I heard the horn at 0:18 I immediately knew it was 707. Probably my favorite P32 horn lol
God the sound the cars make whirling by is fantastic!
They wouldnt carry P symbols on the Hudson Line as Amtrak now controls it
I so enjoyed watching Amtrak trains at speed. I like the way each train is named, the Empire, & the Maple leaf for examples. Here in New Zealand we name our passenger trains too: The Trans- Alpine, the Coastal Pacific & the Silver Fern. But, they don't travel at speed as the gauge of the track is only 3feet & 6inches!
The Old NYC Water Level route , fast Amtrak trains . Great Video 📸.
You can sleep!😴
Not as fast as the New York Central once had them . . . .
Very cool - great catches, pretty settings, and love the atmosphere you captured - heat, exhaust, the feel of the moment. Cheers~
I am from Uruguay. Excellent video with fast trains. And what a beautiful state NY is! Passenger trains are virtually non-existent here, we have a good bus service though.
Thank u & best wishes
I really love those engines, i wish Amtrak will still maintain them in service instead of retiring them
Doesn't make sense to. Inefficient, large. Sentiments like that is what keeps rail travel bad, when in reality we can use them as a fell swoop to eliminate short haul flights, and long car rides.
Awesome catches! The shot of 702 at 4:30 is gorgeous.
Thank you!
That black nose paint job is the coolest Amtrak color ever
EXCELLANT VIDEO, I REALLY ENJOYED IT
Awesome video. Those P32's in the Phase III Scheme look really good. I just subscribed to your channel. Great work! Looking forward to seeing more train vids!
Yea awesome catches of these trains with these empire services hertige units
Great video well done
Awesome video!!!
Thank you!
3:36 P32s are very fast for their age
They were built for it but certainly have held up well over the years. I'm glad I got to see them at their operational max before retirement.
50 km/h..... Whaoooo !!! It is a very very high speed !!! 🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤭🤗🤗🤗🤗😂😂😂😂
Formidable ❤❤❤❤❤
This looks to be along route 9j in Castleton
They should’ve played the charade theme song after the train passed by
110 mph (177 km/h) is almost two cars per second. The train at 4:26 seems to be going that fast.
Awesome video where are these locations? I want to go there to catch them at 110 mph!
These shots were taken between Albany and Hudson. Thanks for watching!
@@MedAppMedProductions I figured they had to be north of Poughkeepsie because of only two tracks and the wooden ties.
Incredible footage! Where are the first couple filmed?
Stuyvesant, NY. Thanks for watching!
I have a suggestion that would make these videos more interesting. Use a speed gun and display their speed on screen.
So they only use the Phase III scheme on this line?
Niagra falls slowly a turn step by step inch by itch
“High speed”
Amtrak station to look on for what it is
does CSX still run stuff on this line?
I wonder why such short trains have two engines and so does the auto train which is considerably longer and heavier?
I don't think the AutoTrain ever breaks 79 mph.
110 by definition is not High Speed Rail. It's fast, but not as fast as politicians like to make it out to be.
Yes, I was just on a train in Italy and it hit 298 km/h as per the in car speed indicator which is over 180 mph and it was smoother than any Amtrak train I've been on. These are great videos though. Job well done to the videographer.
Would be a nice touch if you added filming locations
Locations from beginning to end
Riverview Park Rd MP 124.2
Hamilton Paper Way MP 135.0
Staats Island Rd MP 137.2
All are on Amtrak's Empire line. If you wish to see trains at or about 110mph, Hamilton Paper Way is your best bet. Staats Island going south still accelerating out of Rennselaer and Riverview Park is a speed change from 110mph to 85mph.
Hope this helps😊
I'd be interested to know what the speeds were. It doesn't seem high to me.
Going to nyc tomorrow… ride the route a lot … last leg Hudson ny to Albany gets as high as 115mph
wow....115mph? don't let the French hear about that or they'll start worrying about their 196mph services.@@brianog5267
Is there a reason these trains seem to use their horns almost continuously?
They are required to use horns at EVERY railroad crossing, no matter how many are ahead of them.
Dumb people like to go around the barriers...SOME don't make it. The engineers do not like Killing people.
Where is the spot at 1:31?
Still an hour late
To me these high speed trains are more like regular intercity trains in europe, where high speed trains cruising about 2x faster
Unfortunately that’s all these are. The US does not have proper HSR yet, as the nation, plagued by big oil, prioritized cars over everything else.
This looks around 70 mph
Very short
That poor people in that white house on the hill….. lord they must have to go to a Holiday Inn to sleep late now and then… bummer….
😂 Amtrak slow down before ya end up in the Hudson like skully 🚦
Nice video. Most of those horns sound terrible.
Agreed, a lot are fouled. Thanks for watching!

And that’s high speed? Lol
In India most of the important trunk routes allow max speed of 130 km/h
While a small stretch of 200 km in the country allows 160 km/h
For the Americans, 130 km/h is 81.25 mph, and 160 km/h is 100 mph
India is in the process of laying a 500 km stretch of high speed line exactly like Shinkansen, built under technical and financial assistance from Japan.
The entire network is broad gauge,
1676 mm.
I believe only BART in the US is broad gauge
Do you live in India? Do you work in a call center?
High speed my foot. They're maybe doing 80 mph, not more...
Shouldn't this video be titled "Kinda Fast Amtrak Trains along the Hudson?"
High-speed train US, hitting 60, Japan, China, Spain, et al. 180 plus.
Obviously not high speed.
I'd estimate 70mph from most of these shots?
Lowkey embarrassing what Americans call high speed rail 💀
Are there any electrified lines in USA ?
How many drivers take place in the train's cabin ?
Thanks
(1) Most American railroads use diesel trains -- only a few lines are electrified (other than metro and light rail systems, which are all electrified), namely Boston-Washington DC, Philadelphia-Harrisburg, and most of the suburban lines in the New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia and Denver areas (plus a few in the Chicago area, and one currently in the process of electrification between San Francisco and San Jose, CA). (2) On mainline railroads, there are 2 crew on the engine -- the engineer and the assistant engineer (formerly called the fireman).

@lalakerspro You, too, before posting condescending comments.
We are so happy you have high speed train travel because you are you.
The DC NE Corridor isn't a bullet train.
Getting to DC about 165 miles up, I seriously doubt we get near 70. The 5-7 plus day night coal freight tearing up the track. I recall back limited to 65 mph, bad tracks.
Just because an engine is rated at some value does mean it's the norm.
From Amtack 2022
"Significant milestone will improve reliability for customers across the Northeast Corridor
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Amtrak passengers can now travel even faster on Acela as recent infrastructure improvements along a 16-mile segment of track between New Brunswick and South Brunswick can accommodate speeds of up to 150 mph"
16 whole miles... so yeah somewhere in New Jersey you can hit 150 mph, for 16 miles, for 00:06:24 minutes you can go 150 mph?
Don't blink.
And they are having to piece fix small sections like that all over.
It been reported that speeds will be restricted because of bottle neck track.
Joy, the envy Japan, China, Spain, Europe.
Up through DC having by law electric points north, speeds are limited by century old tunnels and track with insufficient radius heading north.
The new Acela isn't going to do 160 mph through the Northeast Corridor. The track infrastructure is too outdated.
Yeah cherry pick an area, define it as status quo.
From a northern Corridor train rider.
