Google Play's TOS also states that with any app you download at your own risk and to be cautious when doing so.
I just looked it up if anyone's wondering and the jury held David 0% responsible and the man who tripped 100% responsible. So yay that's what I would've voted too.
The cost to have illusion designed is massive, specialist firms that are hired under exclusivity agreements. Not sure, if DC was using 10yr period for depreciation, if he was using longer timeframe. The judge just f8kked him lol So, the guy trips & falls > hurts himself > but, not bad enough for ambulance > then 1yr later he has brain damage ... hmmm I would've loved if during X-examination, DC threw one of those smoke bombs and disappeared *LMFAO*
I have no idea if the guy was really injured badly or not, but it is a bummer that the trick was exposed to people beyond the courtroom. I participated in it 10 yrs or so ago, and it was great fun. But when you think that 50,000+ random people have participated in it over the years, eventually a few are going to slip and fall jogging through those hallways. They only have like 20 seconds or so before the trick to assess you with some basic questions like "can you run a bit?" "are you ok with dark, narrow spaces?" and check if you're sober, etc. Somebody's bound to take a spill at some point. It was really cool how after the show, David met with the group, was really friendly and made you feel "part of the team" when asking you to keep the trick a secret, even suggesting multiple fake explanations to tell people if they were persistent. Felt really friendly and sincere, which I think is why the trick was mostly kept secret even after so many people had done it over the years.
My dad was in this trick about 14 years ago. He wouldn't tell me how it was done for years. After the show, David told him and the rest of the group that everyone could tell only one person how the trick was performed. Not really surprising someone finally got hurt. Learn to walk man.
You don't get a brain injury from a simple fall. If he had gotten seriously hurt, he'd have had a bump or bruise on his head, been bleeding with a severe gash on his head, been sleepy and slurring his words, or been completely unconscious.
Honestly I get the man was drunk and fell but Honestly the media didn’t have to fuckn publicize this....... member magic is real to those that love and “Believe “
FOAD RIGHTNOW www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/654626002 I’m actually surprised the verdict was only last year. I’m glad David Copperfield did NOT have to pay.
So, if the participants were randomly chosen from the audience, does not that mean they knew the secret of that magic then? Or did they have to be running blind-folded? Or did they have to sign an agreement to never review the secret, hence ran out of time and had to run so fast that the man fell? Seriously, anyone would've guessed that there must be a 'secret passage'. The question is how could it be hidden from everyone's eyes.
It's quite obvious to me how the trick was performed using smoke and misdirection, no doubt the participants must have walked to the back of the stage. If you timed it, there is sufficient time for them to do so. What I like to know is, to protect his trade secret, does the participants have to sign confidentiality agreements, since over the 10 years he performed this trick, a many people already know the secret behind it. If he was able to teleport people using unknown scientific principles, men in black would have shown up at his door steps and he would have already been taken in by the CIA and held at some secret military base for research, or kidnapped by a foreign power when performing in a foreign country. Governments would love to get their hands on such technology if it existed.
Sad that the process had to be revealed to the public. What is the fun in that. I was part of that illusion years ago. it was a great experience...and i never told anyone how it was done.
Wait a minute... What if this isn't actually how the trick is done and this is just a smoke screen by David copperfield to confuse competition and hide his secrets.
I'm sure they waited a year to sue because that's probably when he told his lawyer what happened, and lawyer realized they can make a killing off of suing someone like that...
At 2:12 Chris Kenner states that after the trick, Copperfield spoke to the plaintiff to see if he was alright. Then at 5:21 the attorney asks Copperfield if he knew about the injury, to which he said he didn't know about it until a year later after he was sued. The attorney wasn't being aggressive or intimidating or in any way unreasonable or misleading. The attorney was poking holes in the defense's statement, and found one. Perhaps what Copperfield was trying to say is he didn't know the person was injured. The fact remains that there is a plausible reason to suspect that the defense isn't being honest and didn't take into account the participant's injury.
that guy was probably drunk, then again.... if they walked through a kitchen; they would need slip resistant shoes or something. they could fall. so... it sucks either way.
Yeah but we all knew this is roughly how the trick was done right? What other possible explanation could there be?! They magically teleported there? I don't think so.
Say Stückenschneider to a Stückenschneider and see if you get the name right. Thank you is an appropriate response because it is a relief to know you said the name properly.
Even if he was a real magician, I don't know of any fictional magician (personally atleast), who had the power to rewrite time. That'd require abilities kind of above a simple magician, heh. But I mean, what is this? "We asked if he was okay, he said yes, he was fine." They heard he was hurt, they followed up. That was their job, done.
I’m not surprised that someone was injured at his show. I was injured a couple years ago at his show in Vegas by one of those giant plastic balls hitting wine glasses on our table, which in turn shattered, cut my arm and covered me in alcohol. I spoke to the show manager and he shrugged, and dismissed it saying “oh well.” I told him that it’s a bad idea to serve drinks in glass if they keep the bouncing balls in the show, but they didn’t care. KARMA is a bitch Copperfield.
Dan The man: No, the multiple cuts across my arm were not huge. That’s not the point. I was injured and it could have been worse. I reported it to the management in the hopes of keeping it from happening to someone else. I didn’t ask for anything, other than suggesting they stop serving drinks in glassware (plastic doesn’t shatter). Thank you for your concern. Be safe.

yeah it only hurts david if he is forced to pay a crazy high amount to the so called victim, it limits how much money he can make now, david had to pay people to plan these tricks for the show, and map them out for other show locations.
Do you feel clever now? Absolutely NOBODY did or ever will read that long lecture.
I'm pretty sure he was braindamaged beforehand.
clearly a lawsuit that's designed to be settled out of court. I'm glad Copperfield is forcing this to go to trial and giving up one of his secrets. I hope that man gets nothing and gets counter-sued from Copperfield.

The fact he had to reveal a trick because of some bogus lawsuit deserves compensation on itself.
True that. I thought it was rea magic!
I would be impressed if copperfield made cnn disappear
Trump can do it for real with his power and money.
He would've if he could by now.

He has brain damage, but his brain is undamaged enough to sue and file for damages!
smells fishy to me!
my initial thought
The guy is from overseas. He even said he was too sick to return home for quite a while. He's just trying to take David Copperfield's company as well as other parties for an enormously expensive ride.
Sympa Dm lol
Judging from your comment it seems you have a fair amount of brain damage yourself.
I mean...it would be pretty fucked up if he did actually suffer brain damage, right? Oh, right, you can totally tell from a seconds long youtube clip.
Where the fuck is the doctors notes???
The real Magician in this story? The guy convincing the Jury that he has a permanent brain injury due to a slip. Now that is a true magician.

Once a friend of mine from US came to Ecuador. He went to a restaurant and the chair he was sitting on broke and he fell, HE had to pay for the broken chair! Haha. What a difference to what people do in the US
Luis Meza Was he fat? Or very tall? I know Ecuadorians are increasingly obese in recent years, 2 thirds of the population is now.
Thats BS Luis Meza, the restaurant could be an ASS and to that, but IN COURT of course that woulde bad for the restaurant.... crazy people are everywhere.
unless he was dancing on top of the chair or something like that
Another level of crazy
That's ridiculous. Thousands of people could have sat in the chair leading to its demise. In business it's called normal wear and tear which is not the customer's fault.
So the restaurant forces their customers to pay for the upkeep on their own furniture, and you think that’s a good thing?
Idk the details but i laughed out loud hearing permanent brain damage
With so many participants, I’m shocked it hasn’t leaked earlier! Do they sign NDAs?

@@koniko169 It'll always be a thing as long as Apple keeps duping people into thinking they're at the forefront of technology
Google encourages open development for apps. This is why you can get a Google SDK with no problems. Apple wants to keep everything a secret so they can convince the world they are the best. You can't (legally) create an app for the app store without Apple's approval for you to even use the SDK.
The judge just f8kked him lol So, the guy
trips & falls > hurts himself > but, not bad enough for ambulance > then 1yr later he has brain damage ... hmmm
I would've loved if during X-examination, DC threw one of those smoke bombs and disappeared *LMFAO*
Cry baby! Give him a dollar
loraine that’s more than he ended up with 😂
Always someone with no empathy to sue in court
Omg I thought this was the onion
My dad was in this trick about 14 years ago. He wouldn't tell me how it was done for years. After the show, David told him and the rest of the group that everyone could tell only one person how the trick was performed. Not really surprising someone finally got hurt. Learn to walk man.
If ruled not Copperfield's fault, he should be able to sue Cox for lost royalties if his next performance isn't well attended.
You don't get a brain injury from a simple fall. If he had gotten seriously hurt, he'd have had a bump or bruise on his head, been bleeding with a severe gash on his head, been sleepy and slurring his words, or been completely unconscious.
More people need to start taking responsibility for their own actions instead of blaming everyone else for their stupidity.
Breaking The Magician's Code.
What happens when a magician breaks code?

What is the latest on this case?
FOAD RIGHTNOW www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/654626002 I’m actually surprised the verdict was only last year. I’m glad David Copperfield did NOT have to pay.
I’ve been to his show and have seen that trick and absolutely love it... that’s too bad that this had to happen!
The alliance of magicians isn’t going to be happy about this
"We demand to be taken seriously!" -The magicians alliance
I think that was the Film Actors Guild
So, if the participants were randomly chosen from the audience, does not that mean they knew the secret of that magic then? Or did they have to be running blind-folded? Or did they have to sign an agreement to never review the secret, hence ran out of time and had to run so fast that the man fell? Seriously, anyone would've guessed that there must be a 'secret passage'. The question is how could it be hidden from everyone's eyes.
The only thing magic here is cnn actually doing real journalism..........wait a minute, is this part of the trick?.......damn you David Copperfield
The guy has “brain damage”, but still has enough capacity to be able to file a lawsuit? Get real.
Sad that the process had to be revealed to the public. What is the fun in that. I was part of that illusion years ago. it was a great experience...and i never told anyone how it was done.

I'm sure they waited a year to sue because that's probably when he told his lawyer what happened, and lawyer realized they can make a killing off of suing someone like that...
A Magician nvr reveals his secret NO MATTER WHAT
At 2:12 Chris Kenner states that after the trick, Copperfield spoke to the plaintiff to see if he was alright.
Is this Ace Attorney?

I must say you smell terrific
Hiding behind curtains or blankets or drapes isn't an illusion. Everyone should know this
that guy was probably drunk, then again.... if they walked through a kitchen; they would need slip resistant shoes or something. they could fall. so... it sucks either way.
hahahahahahaha fuck no
Yeah but we all knew this is roughly how the trick was done right? What other possible explanation could there be?!
They magically teleported there?
I don't think so.

This guy ended up losing the case. He also lost his entire life savings and had to sell his house to pay the lawyers 😂
I always thought Copperfield is Harry Porter grow up.
and now more people are claiming they had injuries during the show
Really? This is news?
That's no reason to sue. Just because someone doesn't know how to walk correctly doesn't mean you can just blame it on someone else.
If i was David Cooperfield i DISAPER for ever.😀
She says “You got my name right” and he says “Thank you”😂😂😂😂
Say Stückenschneider to a Stückenschneider and see if you get the name right.
Rewrite time? Look, magicians are all about illusion. They don't have powers. We don't live in a comic book.
Most people with whiplash say they are ok, it starts hurting afterward.
Anyone know what the verdict was for the case?
Be safe.
Original Mommabear you should've sued
Diana, you don't always need to sue lol. No one did it on purpose, so what is the point?
Isaac Lyons it was a joke lol
