What do you think of the series and which cards make your list as flavor finalists?
I started off hating this set. I thought it was going to be a cash grab.
When Tovolar was revealed, I fell in love instantly. Not only is it a fantastic tribal commander, but I enjoyed its flavor. He gives favor to all wolves and werewolves, while ensuring it is night given enough strength.
The perfect game is his ultimate goal, where night reigns eternal and savage nature is supreme.
I really enjoyed this video and i am excited for more in the series! The art and flavor text of cards are often overlooked, but one of the most endearing parts of magic. Its nice to see it get some love and help tie the story together.
As for my favorite flavor card i like unruly mob since it is one of the few cards that mention the events of shadows and eldritch moon, as well as fun card to play
Thanks for the video and great work! Crossroad Candleguide makes my list. The flavor text states "Do the candleguides' heads turn to follow you as you pass, or is it merely a trick of the flickering light". In each of the new allied slow lands within the set, you can see the candle guide pointing the path which is a really neat addition to the flavor text of the card.
@@devincline6707 that is an awesome choice, really makes the world feels deeper!
@@kwmpokeproductions8911 yes, flavor text is what initially started me on the road of an MTG vorthos!
This man busting out the clue tokens to Find these secrets
Can you do retro reviews? I'd love to see your thoughts on WOTC's evolution of flavor and perspective. Especially how PWs changed the way they approached lore.
I would love this!
I shed tears when i learned of Avacyns Fate.
Dudes. I watch an embarrassing amount of MTG lore and I haven't seen another style if video like this that focus on the flavor and "Easter eggs" in the cards. This is so dope. I really hope you continue this type of video for more sets. I'm sure it beyond time consuming.... but it's so so good
I feel like we’ll see the effects of emrakul in crimson vow. I feel like the vampires where more heavily effected by her influence, especially the Falkenrath bloodline.
I think the references to the travails fill the eldrazi hole in the set really well, as well as most major developments following the sets, like the 2nd fall of thraben and moon cycle changing
By all means, i want to be the first to congratulate for your spotless work.
One of the cards that intrigues me the most is the only card that features Sorin, apparently arriving late.. for something. I'm confident that we'll sede more of him in the upcoming expantion
When grandpa Edger is missing things are 100% goin down
Maybe it's a Funeral or a Wedding 👀
It’s the wedding
@Luca Tronfietti
Sorrin implies the vampires had something to do with the longer nights in his rant on why he is giving up in Episode 3.
@@TheSwordsman100 tbf the plane would literally keel over and die without Sorin. He's an edgelord but he really cares
I love innistrad and this gave a good overview without me having to watch an hour video
Just want to say that you’re amazing!! I found your channel a couple months ago and I can’t even put into words how much I enjoy it. Magic and all the lore has so much nostalgia for me, as well as just my love for the game and the stories. Your videos really mean so much to me and I truly appreciate you
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it and so glad you found the channel! Mind if I highlight this comment in my next video to show some love?
Amazing video! I really enjoy the small stories which are usually overlooked. I hope you can make more of these Finding Flavor Set Reviews :D
I’ve really been enjoying your channel, keep it up!
Thanks for the support!
I just live innistrad.Great lore, beat artwork and just fun decks to build.I will remember when I got into the game mu friend gave me two innistrad midnight hunt sets and a bundle and two crimson vow sets and an bundle and said build a deck if u need lands i will give u some.So I did my pulls and I got lucky I pulled some many options for decks. But I settled on werewolves. To this day I will always remember that game even tho I lost I put up a good fight
Sounds like a great game and innistrad is definitely one of the coolest planes
@@TheLorebrarians yep. That game is also the reason I hate mono white decks.Too much life gain deat god
Thank you for putting this together! Your videos are so well made
I appreciate it, glad you like them!
This is an amazing concept. I wish I would have thought of this. Can't wait to see more
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it!
Incredible work, thanks for all this effort
Glad you enjoyed!
Fantastic as always please keep the great flavor coming.
this is a great idea for a series! would love to see you go back and do some retrospective on previous sets as well!
That’s cool and all but don’t let that distract you from the fact there’s nothing a werewolf hates more than a collar- specifically Avacyn’s collar, the symbol of her church
Gosh dude, love it!
Brilliant work, loved it!
Thanks!
What a great theory regarding Liesa; one of the best explanations as to why she may be back. That whole Liesa segment can lead to a great story whenever we visit Innistrad again.
Angels siding with humans versus Angels siding with Demons.
Well that was confermed by wizards of the coast in the returning legends bio
Such a great series - looking forward to more
SOOO FRCIKING COOL MAN. KEEP IT UP!
Glad you liked it!
hoping crimson vow pick up where this set forgot about Eldrazi since we wont be back next year apparently
I love this new series
I can't believe I didn't catch the faithless looting/ faithful mending connection
I'm really enjoying the flavor this set, but I also find it odd that Eldrazi are hardly ever mentioned. Is it possible Emarkul is using its influence to affect people's memories?
I would believe it is either Emrakul influencing things or on purpose from the viewpoint of the humans.
The lore states that they call it the Travails in order to distance themselves from it. Putting a name to that time so that they don’t have to go into detail, simply saying it was a part pf the Travails and moving on.
continue this series pls
The Mondronen howlpack was disbanded after Avacyns return, like most of the other howlpacks. Tovolar leads the Dire howlpack now.
I appreciate the correction! The vid was made before wotc released the legends article
@@TheLorebrarians ah that explains the speculation about liesa my joke theory before the article came out is that she was just there the whole time but no one could tell Avacan because they are forbidden to say her name
Find me the card which has this flavour; "That one's for smashin', that one's for bashin', that one's for scratchin', and that one... I don't know what that one is for."
Trained orgg. Scryfall and gatherer have great advanced search features for that sort of thing
@@TheLorebrarians Damn, too easy, then. It's a classic betwixt my brother and I in our childhood. Thanks for playing!
Is it just me or do the villagers in the card art of Bloodtithe collector look way to eager to have their blood sucked? Like one guy is exposing his whole neck (25:27)
Judging by the flavor text it’s more like HERES MY BLOOD DONT KILL ME
I don't know why but my comment keeps getting deleted/disapearing even though there was nothing wrong in it. All I said was thank you for this new series, a lament on Champion of the Perished and finally some thoughts on the Eldrazi and Liesa. =(
Hmm, I don't know why it would take them down. But thanks for leaving a comment, glad you enjoyed the video!
@@TheLorebrarians
Hmm trying to reply you now and having the same problem it seems to be the MTG article link for the legends in the set for some reason. (breaking this up though in case I'm wrong) Basically it suggests that you might be correct about Liesa but also gives the theory that angels also being creatures of mana can reform, which gives some interesting implications if true and Ormendahl is apparently working for Emerukal.
The other thing I was going to mention is that Dweller of Secrets (thanks to hearing a voice in the moon) and Hostile Hostel (for resembling Writhing Township) might be Eldrazi related.
@@TheSwordsman100 great finds! I think you're right, they are probably in reference to emrakul/eldrazi stuff
Imma be honest if mtg didn't have flavorful lore. I probably wouldn't play it LOL.
The Day/Night Mechanic is kind of shit for any game more then 2 people
There's sonething off l. I does not feel like inistrad
