Implied Harmony | Ep.55

- In this episode of the podcast I address a common concept that I use to create harmony without the vertical aspect of the chord structures - What I call Implied Harmony, when the notion of harmony is achieved by way of only layer against the other, through any kind of voice movement (parallel, oblique etc) or also via repeated/ostinato figures, which can also imply harmony as a result of its movement. Do you guys utilize this approach on your harmonies as well? Let me know in the comments!

I love this video Gabriel. As a bassist and composer, I resonate with the use of a simple set of notes in the top voices and a moving bass below. It creates such a beautiful effect and as you mentioned, it frees the music up where it’s not stuck on the same static chords over and over again. Ty so much for sharing brother.
Glad you enjoyed it! One can get a lot of cool sounds with just this simple way of looking at it. Best GS

Fala Gabriel! Cabei de conhecer você e amei teu inglês.
Me diz, você sabe como eu poderia usar harmonia implícita para desenvolver meu ouvido musical, principalmente para afinação?
Tô chegando no canal, meu camarada!
ôpa! valeu meu camarada!!!! Seja bem vindo. Forte Abraço!
Still Brillant !!!
Thank you Serge!
Hi Gabriel, what a coincidence. tonight I've been doing 3-7 variations and sequences of progression.
Key C (although not static)
e.g. 3-7-b6 in the bass.
6 (bass) 4-1
7 (bass) 5-2
I (bass) 6-3
etc.....
Many possibilities.
Thanks for your explanation....
Ron (The Netherlands)
