I'm genuinely surprised Lucas/Disney never tried to make a cod clone star wars game to begin with
I guess they wanted to achieve that with the singleplayer experience in 2017's Battlefront, but the FPS mode plays kind of slow its not smooth, its better in third person.
Star wars first assault was also supposed to be like that
They did, but it was canceled.

If you do, download the Pezbots mod so you can play vs a.i bots on a local server so you don't just run around on an empty map

Yeah but I feel like they exist for different reasons. GC is more large scale oriented. This is more a COD reskin.
