This song reminds me of my mother. She plays this song everyday when we go out shopping or going to visit family's. Now me listening to it makes me cry because of my mother. My mother has passed away and now her Guamanian music keeps me going. She sings it all the time. It brings tears to my eyes.
My nana used to slow dance with me to this song, now that she's gone, this song makes me remember all those happy times I spent with her Even if I was never taught the language, I'm a proud chamorro ♥️ miss you nana fly high 💞
I love this lady sings this Chamorro love song. She has to expressly pronounce the real Chamorro words in clear Chamorro original intonation, instead of English word version. Anyhow, she is well Chamorrita Idol and beautiful natural Chamorro singer of all time. Keep it up!!!
It’s quite sad how the young Chamorros in my generation don’t know an ounce of Chamorro, all of the ones I’ve met take pride in being Chamorro but don’t intend to learn the language. The other day I met a guy in my class who was decked out in Guam gear so I went up to him and asked what part of Guam are you from and he told me I don’t know my parents never told me. I later asked my close friend who is Chamorro if he’d be interested in learning Chamorro from my auntie and he said no English is all I need. I was astounded, like do any of the other Chamorros in my generation want to learn the language so that we can keep it alive.
Vincent Rosario I have so many kids in all my classes say their from Guam yet they don’t know anything about the culture. I find it pretty sad that they love to say their from Guam yet don’t know anything about it. Before I moved I used to be in a chamorro dance group and I loved it because we got to represent where we’re from but now that I moved it’s like there are no dance groups here but there’s a lot of Chamorros here.
Practically, if you are a born Rotanese of the island of Rota, one of the Southernmost Islands of the Commonweath of the Nothern Marians Islands, a U.S. territories, an about 44 miles of Guam. My first language is Chamorro, I can speak deep Chamorro langauge that others may have a hard time to understand me. I speak Chamorro langauge without mixing English and Chamorro. Although, I am not a pure Chamorro, I am a mixed Chamorro and Japanese Andy German or others. I am lucky that my parents speak Chamorro langauge fluently every day of my life from toddler to adulthood. Learning Chamorro is easy if you put your interest and devotion to master. I learned other languages by hearing and socializing with them like playing Bingo games.
I was born and raised in Guam. I’m half Chamorro and half Chuukese I learned only the basics. I learned more Chuukese because rarely anyone on my Chamorro side spoke it. I want to learn it but I don’t have anyone to turn to for help and the ones I that do know, keep making excuses. I want to teach my kids too. I was in a Chamorro Dance group to learn when I was younger but I only learned songs and dances. So it’s my plan to teach them the songs and dances, I was taught at the very least.
This is one of my papas favorite songs we would play it all the time and it never gets old but he passed away 2019 a few days before his b-day and I haven’t listened to it then but this day I listened to it and it brought me to tears like bad it’s been a year since I listened to that R.I.P. papa
Chamorro songs and musics are my cultural lifetime and I am pride to live this way where my cultural heritage is to no one but the whole Marianas lifelong to no extinction in whatever way. Ti sina humafnas l ratan Chamorro komo tomatacho fietme I enteramente I islan Marianas. Si Yu"us Ma'ase.
I love this song and used play this a lot but I like the vocals and range. People always think I am referring to people that did not even cross my mind so funny looking back it and only noticed like months after I used to play it like every single day. Omg having such a good laugh nowadays about it.
🥀💔 this song 🏹strikes my 💘 heart 🎯 sentimentally breaks 💔 me into pieces, shattered my pieces everywhere that NO MAN can hand pick to fix, am permanently OUT of ORDER😭 🌵💔😭💔🌵
Good job Desha. Yes some of the comments are justifiable as to why mixed English and Chamorro. Perhaps, for non-Chamorro speaker or it might translated the meaning of Chamorro into English. I am a fluent Chamorro speaker from the island of Rota. Biba linguahen Chamorro para si'empre. Na la'la I linguahen Chamorro para todo I tempo!!!
Guaminian song is very nice to listen. Very touching and relaxing. Mabuhay

I am one of those generation. Now 34 years don’t know Chamorro still. I agree this is sad.
