Since no one has said it yet: the musical clue is sung to the tune of "Venus", which was a hit twice. First by Dutch group Shocking Blue, then by American trio Bananarama.
Anton Spivack you could be right. If my memory serves me right, I think the chief said the same thing about daily fortunes in another episode when she awarded the secret senders
I'm willing to bet that her absence was because of botched plastic surgery or something, and it took awhile to get it fixed (which could explain her new look)
Oh, weird. I just noticed that the Music-net Extra looks like it was filmed in Season 3 (judging by the outfits and Scott's hair) but has Jeff in it! He never appeared in Season 3, but it looks like they got him his own coloured shirt and tie and everything! Wonder why they would have filmed this back then but not aired it till Season 5. (Side note: I like the colour scheme, where Jeff has his own distinctive colour, as opposed to Season 5 where his shirt looks almost the same as Elliott's.)
I think around that time, he had just joined the band. He was backstage since 1993, but for some reason they didn't want to let him be on screen until the last season (contractual issues? Money??) or maybe it was still up in the air whether he would stay with the band long-term. That segment was definitely filmed in 1993, though.
@@brettjacquard219 It is cool that they found a way to work flags into the show, which otherwise didn't feature much. On the other hand, sometimes it can be annoying when they use a super recogniseable flag and you think, "Oh, Japan!" (or whatever), but then *still* have to sit through all the clues before you get to the answer.

For those who are wondering what song Rockapella's parodying to in this ep., it's "Venus" by Bananarama.
Their version is a cover. It was originally done by the Shocking Blue.
Probably the first taped episode of the season cause the training exercise was skipped and there was a third clue before the lightning round.
This may be the only Season 5 episode without the training exercise.
likely a very early taped season 5 episode

8:45 The medieval elevator sound effect from Quake
9:13 the door sound effect from Doom
Contessa was initially retired after season 1...but she was revamped and refurbished 🙂

@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit interestingly, despite her new look, her file on the shelf in the Chief’s office retains her old photo.
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPitI think she went to real estate school

hmmm it's hard to tell since Scott's hair was kind of the same in season 3 and 5

I don't know who voiced who in this show, but I have a feeling Prawn Wayne is voiced by the same guy who voices Double Trouble. Anyone else think so?
I will admit yes they do sound alike
cool
well done fellow
13:32 ALL ABOARD
I honestly don't like the training exercise part it just slows the game down
yeah I don't like it either
My condolences to u guys; I love it.
I love anything that has to do with flags & geography of course.
