It’s an equal area presentation rather than a constant bearing projection. The Mercator projection keeps directions accurate across the chart. That is that if you draw a line on a Mercator map from Bristol to New York and it gives a bearing of 230 degrees and sail at 230 degrees from Bristol you will end up in New York. This distorts area near the poles as polar areas are stretched to maintain the correct bearing relationships. The game seems to be using a peterson projection that preserves area by distorting directions in the polar regions (Iceland is very flattened for instance). Any map distorts the world, you can’t transform a spherical surface into a rectangle without distortion, what you preserve depends on what use you put a map to. While maps were principally for navigation the Mercator projection dominated as that was most useful.
Yeah that "explanation" he gave is this video is so cringy, and pure conspiracy, Mercator (the most commonly used map) is the best for Navigation, but as you said distorts sizes near to pole (greenland being one of the very obvious once, looks about as big as Africa on Mercator, when it don't even have the size of 1/4th of Africa). And well maps have specially in the past but even today still are mainly used for Navigation (though less so today as digital maps can be actual spheres and thus actually be objectively accurate. There are a LOT of different map projections even, some of them very... ehmm... creative
It would be really great (and I know the game is only in alpha, so hopefully this comes later) if the game worked like google maps where you zoom in and it looks flat, but if you zoom out it becomes a sphere, so there's no distortion. One of the worst things beyond the distortion, is I tried to make a Sydney to Los Angeles flight and I noticed as you drew the line past africa, the route got cheaper (since its actually a shorter distance) but then when I paid for the line to be built, it drew the line as a huge arch over the whole map and the planes flew from LA, over the US, over the Atlantic, over Europe, over the middle east, over Indonesia and finally into Sydney.
I think "Unlock All Countries" could work as is if it had a more in depth UI. As it stands now you don't get a lot of information about your flights like how many people come through a city just to get on another flight, and how much money you have coming in, on top of that selecting something to upgrade can be a pain. If there were menus down in the bottom for "Countries" "Cities" "Routes" "Flights" and "Planes" it would be far easier to manage late game. If you could open up the "Planes" menu and sort by percentage full or open the "Flights" menu and do the same to see that all three flights you have going from Paris to Berlin are completely full it would be easier and quicker to know what really needs to be upgraded instead of sometimes having to guess whether a flight will get much traffic. Early game when you only have five countries it wouldn't really help much to have those menu breakdowns, but late game it would be crucial. It would also help with a problem I have with bordering cities where sometimes even though I connect a route to another city it purchases a country instead of opening that route I picked.
I hope that in the full release, we will have an actual cylindrical map. Now to get from Japan to the US, you have to go all the way through the world...
But routes like Moscow to NYC that fly close to the North Pole would suffer lots of time, but it would save tons of time over the Pacific instead of over all of Asia, Europe, and America. (I’m talking about north and south, not the “American” name of the USA)
One annoying thing about the traffic routing: The passengers choose the most direct routes and are not willing to fly via another airport even if the amount of nodes is the same. For example i had a route from London to Moscow, and from London to Ankara. Ankara connected to Wuhan, Moscow to Beijing. Everybody flew over Moscow - Beijing, because i had Wuhan an Beijing connected. The only way to fix that was to remove the connection between Wuhan and Beijing but that had the effect that a lot of the internal China traffic was routed through Europe... Also passengers do not take wait time and route capacity into account.
I think not giving the players which cities are major cities that spawn more passengers is great for replayability (and guide makers). You would have to play again with the new knowledge you have. Some events are also city specific like Oktoberfest in Munich and Gaming Convention in Tokyo. Makes you want to play again with a new strategy in mind :)
I like your style of connecting all of each countries cities to one hub. Like you said, more populous and vast countries need more hubs. Only thing I would suggest is intercontinental flight corridors. Also when you have some longer routes, you don't have to use so much money on local routes, because just passing people will bypass most countries all together. You did that in russia, but I would use it in more places. for example: Cairo to Moscow, Cairo to Dhaka, Paris to Cairo. This would make Cairo a huge hub, but then ease all the local routes. I really hope you continue playing this game. It has been one that I wait the most of any youtube videos at the moment!
There’s also another problem. Some routes are too popular. If you make a route Berlin to Beijing for example, it will be 100% full with all 5 planes max upgraded, so you’d have to connect to other European cities too. I think the model in this video was best but needed more connections from Europe to Chin-(via Central Asia)
@@paultheallknowing Yeah I think there is a limit to how long you can viably make a route as you only can have 5 planes, so if you make too long routes ppl are gonna be piling in the airport. So say you have 3 cities lets just call them A, B and C :P Now if you make one route from A to C you have 2 airports and 5 planes ppl can be in. If instead you make a route from A to B and another from B to C, you get 3 airports and 10 planes (5 on each route) that ppl can now be in, that is a LOT more space, and thus less chance of it failing. So in the end the most important part really is to have multiple routes in case something shuts down, but with how his map unlocked very stretched out that was very hard to do. So imo the game should either have a preference to unlocking countries in a more circular fashion, or only unlock cities in 1 or 2 continents at a time, and only go to another continents once another is fully unlocked thus
@@GummieI yeah the game is really fun but I think they’re working on a rebalance right now. I can’t wait! I love this mode, the challenges are fun but I got to a standstill on some of them(too hard), free play is just far too easy and I wish you could upgrade all a plane lineup/build factory
The thing about the maps you mentioned is that because the Earth is spherical, it has curvature. Because of that you can't represent it perfectly on a plan and something will get deformed. The maps we are used to see (Mercator projection) try to keep the continent shape without deformation, but it makes the size of continents very deformed, specially around the poles (that's why Greenland appears bigger than Africa) The map the game uses is another projection, which name I can't remember, that tries to keep the sizes right and deform the shapes a bit (which makes sense in a game like this). But it would be cool if they managed to introduce a 3d spherical world map, like Google maps did recently
I mean a 3D map would be a huge step up technically that i cant imagine theyd be able to easily take. But im also wondering if im even allowed to cross the pacific ocean, or if its just the far edge of the map both ways
@@S2isDrawingDead I mean you don't need a 3D map (though it would be cool) to connect from east Asia to west America, wrapping a map is pretty easy to do. The harder one to make sense of for that would be trying to go through the poles, as you effectively have a single point there stretched out to a line, so a line going through a pole would be very weird looking at hard to keep track of if you did multiple going that way
While you are correct, the cartographers might have been pressured to use the projection that gives Europe more weight in the world. The two view points aren't necessarily contradictory.
I managed to swing 84 countries by expanding to countries of my own choosing between mandatory selections with a focus on country size and distance. I think it may be even better to ignore country size and go for distance. The game pays based on passenger distance traveled, so the most valuable passengers have the furthest apart city pairs. Routes as well as countries are cheaper early on so it pays well to establish long haul routes early. To that end, stacking as many countries as possible in the Americas and the eastern side of Asia may let one get to 100 countries. I'm curious to try that strategy out next, though knowing that completion is unwinnable due to the exponential growth of costs also means I'm not sure I will.
For a new approach, might be interesting to see proactively adding the known cash cow countries early to try and build up a bank before the unlock cost sinks you on tiny countries.
Looking forward to seeing where this game goes, and even more so looking forward to your next video on this whatever mode it may be in. I certainly hope to see you do another playthrough of this mode particularly when it gets rebalanced though too.
About the game impossibility. It’s literally so frustrating when you open almost the whole Eurasia, nothing gets stuck, everything is correct. You have 3 minutes left with over 50k waiting to open up a 60k worth country and then you get sued for 40k with 20k lawyers… neither of those situations can help you… you can’t even sell routes or planes because they’re not worth that much. It’s like an impossible game whatever you do
Also the thing “PR recommend us to spend 40k”. Best case scenario you get 5 minute double price but it won’t lead to as much money to be gathered. Worst case scenario you get a 1000? Like come on
The problem with not trying to offend anyone by not including places like Hong Kong is that it’s probably better to acknowledge a group of people exists than to pretend they don’t exist to appease a crybaby empire.
I would like to see a little tick box or even an event that allows something like optimise route where it'll space out each plane. The downside of using it is they'd have to stop the planes at the destination and send them out evenly and on longer routes it can be risky
Or maybe a button where you could tell the planes to wait until they're full before leaving. This would be really useful in major hubs and make it easier to see how many planes are needed.
The biggest thing I’ve noticed about the map is just how janky a lot of the borders are. Look at Western Sahara (which is a statement itself), and you’ll see overlapping borders and a strange gap. Sudan stole some of Egypt (aside from the disputed territory). The Netherlands looks really bad, and there are no Great Lakes. For a game where you spend a lot of time staring at a map, the map is really bad.
The simplistic map style is great. But I do agree there could be some slight improvements. Even Lithuania for example in the map is landlocked, which is wrong.
Countries according to Fly Corp (but have limited recognition) Western Sahara Kosovo Somaliland Israel Palestine Territories classified as different countries by Fly Corp Falkand Islands (refuses to answer who owns it) French Southern and Antarctic Islands (why...)
I know everyone has left a comment about the map projection question, but there is a pretty funny episode of Map Men on yt titled "Why every world map is wrong" that goes into detail about it, it's definitely worth a watch. And although implementing a proper 3d globe map may be difficult, calculating the real world flight distance between 2 cities using latitude and longitude should be pretty doable. Although doing this would mean the airplanes appear to go at different speeds on the map view, it would allow for more realistic flight times. I doubt it's a coincidence that you had difficulties with north/south flight lines in Africa when the projection they uses stretches Africa vertically by quite a bit.
it's funny how lucky you actually were in this because every time i played, i kept getting kiev banned after unlocking like 6 cities in ukraine. it drove me nuts to try to manage that.
30:11 -not necessarily just because of that. Generally speaking, in maps you can choose between getting the size of countriee, the angles or the distance between countries correct, never all three at once. While we use distance for everyday-geography, for ships the ones with correct angles are commonly used.
Looking forward to what this game will bring! You can technically leave the game without saving as long as you don’t close the game, when you start another 6 minute challenge it will just resume but the next country will be randomized again. This actually can make it pretty fun avoiding massive jumps, actually designing routes more with a purpose and more efficiently spending money. One massive improvement would be if plane speeds would have a little bit of randomness, it’s way too easy to mess up a route early on by spawning and upgrading planes right after each other. Thanks for the gameplay!
Loved the play through! I am stuck at the same level as you are and I really hope fixes come soon! As usual, thanks for your knowledge, really appreciated it! Your channel is really underrated!
I think it would save you money to connect the close together domestic flights similar to your international airports but on a smaller scale. A lot of your flights go far away to get to the capital like Beijing and all need 3 planes vs making further sub airports that group together the smaller domestic cities into fewer upgraded planes. Just looking at the distances and comparing them to the European flights they are all longer. I wonder if flight cost is linearly proportional to the distance or if the cost per unit decreases per additional unit of distance. This would help determine the most efficient way of connecting the cities. Also having more layover cities could allow you to have more people in transit at any given time, increasing the capacity for people to wait in the airports. It would be a a game of balancing the flow of people though lol These are just some thoughts I had, I’m no expert lol. I really enjoyed the series though!
So instead of having 3k people stuck in London waiting to go to Beijing they could be hoping around from London to kiev to Ankara then Beijing. I think it's brilliant. Instead of storing them at an airport with limited space competing with other destinations, they could be stored in the air...
@@chubs2312 yeah cause you would have up to 5 airplanes between each and be able to distribute the load between the airports :) The only issue I have found is that the game does not process the fastest route. I think it uses the most direct route (which means more waiting in airports) even if there are more and faster planes making layover flights.
1735 is HIGHLY respectful. I dont know how much you played before the series... but solid strategy and pleasant luck made this enlightening for me as well on my strategy. I am eagerly awaiting the nerf version.
It's funny how the curve of the routes is purely aesthetical, and not based on how the shortest flight path over a sphere looks like a curve on a flat map. It looks like flights in Africa have the same curve as those in northern Europe, despite being much closer to the equator and therefore not distorted as much as routes closer to the poles
In terms of the map in this game, it feels like some alternative history map or something as many island nations are missing (major holiday destination that main flight destination). Also Gibraltar isn't Spain. The Maldives are missing completely. Technically PRC and RC both claim the same land but are definitely different nations. I can maybe understand combining a subject state into it's overlord state for simplification (Hong Kong with China, Gibraltar with UK, North Cyprus with Turkey), but San Marino and Vatican city are completely independent (technically Isle of Man is also an independent country).
just picked this up over christmas period, enjoying the game but was a bit confused seeing the airports showing up, as I had blackpool whereas other people didn't and they had manchester which i didn't. Wondering how the mechanics work for that, also iceland they had multiple airports where as i just got rekjavik, interesting seeing how many in african countries too, 32 in nigeria from a google search, not got hurghada in egypt yet, wondered if they could create a scenario where only capitals and known resort destination airports show up, interesting to listen to your thoughts on what they should do with the game, definitely think notifications should be in a list so u can refer to them after they pop
I think it possibly could depend on what countries open first. There is a scenario with Australia and you get all sorts of country towns. But otherwise you only get like 4 cities
Kuomingtang was the party that fled to Taiwan. The leader you were referring to is probably Chiang Kai-Shek. And South Sudan is in fact the newest country recognized by the UN.
Just crossed 100 countries, ranked 1075 in the world, i play on mobile and there was an odd money glitch that happened where I got a million outta no where but the cost of opening new routes also 10xed, but upgrading planes and hubs didn't. Moved 13 million pax! For me the random surges ruin the game, all of a sudden 10000 people want to visit this small city on the other side of the world, clogs up the whole network. Would work a little if they're somewhat realistic in location and % increase, but why 1000 people wish to go from shenyang to oran to view the airports architecture I will never know
Mercator was how it was because it maintained straight lines, i.e. if your sailing in a ship the shortest straight line route on the map is the shortest straight line route on the globe. Making the Christian world look bigger wasn't a major factor, given that a lot of previous maps weren't as focused on being accurate whilst Mercator was
Playing in the free mode and I started in the US and made tons of money. Got to Africa and Australia and it was insane. The distances in Africa make the routes very expensive. And the transoceanic flights are terrible.
Also I don't know if this a valid tips or not but I think it is better to start a route from the capital to the city because the plane will first depart from the first point you pick. Like when you want to make Berlin-Munich route, you make it from Berlin to Munich (click Berlin then drag the route to Munich) instead of Munich to Berlin since it's often the capital city is the one need that extra departure during the emergency if you still have extra slot.
In my experience, when you buy a plane it starts at 20 or 50 passenger capacity only and you would have to upgrade it midflight. So I do the opposite of your tip and make Munich - Berlin, buy a plane from Munich, have the plane fully upgraded before reaching Berlin, carrying more pax from Berlin.
It’s the complete opposite. It’s new airports which get filled because there’s no connections anywhere and you always make a flight from the new city to the hub, since hubs are almost always upgraded and can handle all the stress. I’ve lost too many games by not doing this lol
@@thewhatshouldmynamebI guess because some micronations don't even have an airport, and the other probably have very few people living there, so it isn't "worth it" to put in the game
@@guilhermefonseca1562 Liechtenstein's technically a principality though, just doesn't have an airport. but Kosovo is only recognised by 97 states?. and is definitely a point of contention in the area politically
I definitely think it's worth expanding before you have to. The extra income from flights that are in locations you choose means you make more money without putting excessive strain on major routes. Also, the hub-and-spoke layout only works to a point. Eventually, you have to start making more direct connections to relieve pressure. That said, it's uncommon to have long haul flights between two minor airports, so most of the direct connections should be regional, with a handful leading to the major hub cities over long-haul flights. As far as land disputes go, nothing is "correct". Looking something up on Wikipedia only gives you the opinions of the writers. Each country has a list of other countries it officially recognizes. Then there is a list of the "peoples" it unofficially supports. A good example is Taiwan. The US doesn't officially recognize it as a country, but also only gives minimum concessions to mainland China to prevent war. It then helps Taiwan and works with them as though they _were_ a country. Global politics are very complicated.
I have wondered about trying to force USA and China in early to be money makers with lots of domestic flights and well paying long flights And yeah, in the time since these videos i think the logic ive taken on the map layout is - the company is russian. As a russian, this is how either they see the world, or are allowed to present the world. Maybe I should instead just appreciate that i live in a place where i have the luxury of questioning it
Taiwan is "Republic of China" because when the government lost the civil war when the Communists took over, the government fled to Taiwan, which was a part of china at the time and basically continued their government there. They separated themselves from China for obvious reasons, which is why China still thinks it's China, but the government of Taiwan (formerly the government of all China) of course says differently and officially "recognize" themselves as the proper government of all China. That's why all of this is a mess.
I think the way to play this mode is to have short distance routes. This is because of the maximum amount of planes can travel on a route. For example in my game I have Arak (Algeria?) which is located in the south of the country (it wasn't unlocked in this playthrough) as a fly through hub towards middle Africa. That way I have 10 planes on that route instead of 5 planes flying a really long distance. Same reason why I connected Canada through Greenland and Iceland to Europe, 15 planes can fly this route instead of only 5. I'm currently above 100 countries (haven't checked how many exactly, just know I've got the achievement). Also, I bought India to create a southern route to Asia, so all of Africa and Middle East go through that route instead of through Moscow.
Bought the game and I really enjoyed it. But I also came to that point that i couldn’t afford buying new routes and or upgrade stuff because of the limited time and money that I had. Which was a shame. And also one thing I’d love to see in the game is an easier option to upgrade planes instead of actually having to tap on them.
Well, the Taiwan one is debatable. Not that I don’t support Taiwan. But the fact is that most countries in the world, including the United States, don’t recognise Taiwan has an independent country. This is because of the one China rule. Taiwan is actually the only country to have been kicked out of the United Nations.
Hey I really like your videos normally because I think you generally are really good at figuring out the best strategy for a given game. But I think somewhere along the way you got lost in the weeds in this one. You decided to focus on single hub cities with only about one or two lines connecting those major cities to each other and never considered alternate strategies, even when it became clear that it was becoming more and more difficult to gain time between each country unlock. Let me just give you a couple of examples of mistakes you made. Firstly consider your route between your hub Wuhan and both Chengdu and Nanchong. They are both relatively minor cities right next to each other. Yet you created a separate route between Wuhan and both of them, nearly doubling the cost spent on new routes versus if you had simply created a chain route from Wuhan to Nanchong to Chengdu. You also added three planes to each route, which you later realized was not needed for every single route, so I commend you for that realization; yet, even if three planes had been necessary for each of the two routes, if you had connected them in a chain you'd still probably only need three planes between Wuhan and Nanchong, and only one plane from Nanchong to Chengdu, since the route would be so much shorter. In other words you'd probably spend only a little over half as much on both routes and planes if you had connected Wuhan, Nanchong, and Chengdu in a line rather than if you had connected them in a V with the hub Wuhan in the middle. Another example is when Tunisia unlocked 3 cities at once you connected them all separately to the capitol for about $2000 when you could have connected them in a chain for more like $1300ish. The other major issues I saw were too few direct lines between major hubs, and spending way to much upgrading those hubs. You should never need a 10,000 capacity airport, that's just a huge waste of money and means your routes are too inefficient. Anyway I hope you play more of this game. I feel like it has more complexity than mini-motorways, which I absolutely love, but seems to have been pretty much solved by now, where I feel there's a lot more depth to discover about the strategy of this game.
My biggest issue with this mode is when I have a big hub set up and then the hub gets "bad weather" suddenly..... Almost an instant loss if you arent fast enough to reroute everything and upgrade other routes to compensate.
North Macedonia is still named Macedonia on the map even though the name changed in February 2019. Taiwan did not "spitefully called themselves the exact same thing as the opposing country" (19:00). The name "Republic of China" was the official name for mainland China since 1912 and was governmed by the Kuomintang when the civil war with the Communists broke out. The Kuomintang fled to Taiwan and simply continued to use the same name for the country until today while mainland China was renamed to "People's Republic of China".
Not Macedonia has never been known as Macedonia its previous name was The Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia. Both names are there to avoid any implicit claim to the Greek province of Macedonia which borders Not Macedonia.
@@davidwright7193 The official name mentioned in the constitution and used by the government was Republic of Macedonia and short simply Macedonia since the independence in 1991. It is true that many other states referred to it by a longer name due to the naming dispute with Greece but that does not make that other name the official one.
Not getting enough money is a problem with this game. People said on mobile (and I agree) that the amount of ads you gotta watch to gain money to get to the end game is ridiculous. Also one strategy that I do that you did at the end is I just give small cities 1 big/faster plane hoping that would be enough. And I agree with you points of having notification on the side and knowing which are major cities would be nice
This game needs better ways to track countries and upgrade equipment. A strategy I used was dominating the small countries and upgrading planes on a need to bases. Longer routes are the only ones that really benefit from multiple planes. Also as everything grows delete routes completely. Countries with more cities need to go to other countries with big cities. Smaller countries can go to their regional large airport. So Beijing would go to Moscow, Paris, and a country in Central Africa. From their the flights will branch to the region.
The android version of this is much more easier. You can watch ads to increase passengers traveling, you can unlock a new country for free and also you can get money from other countries, just by watching ads. Yesterday i got an offer to watch an ad and Macedonia would pay me 900k in cash 💀
I think that number is saying what the next upgrade to the airport will give. EG if the airport can currently hold 3000 people that green number will be 6000.
I think maybe you could have gotten further if you had a few routes from Moscow/Europe to china, possibly converting a smaller city next to say Beijing into a hub with a short flight to Beijing, that way you could have an extra set of planes going between Europe and Asia and put less stress on that one route
Don’t create U shapes. Connect neighboring Capitals since that’s a main route. Closing a U to make a O will decrease traffic A prime example is Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh
Had the Hong Kong issue with Chinese students complaining that a form they had to fill in had Hong Kong as a different citizenship from China. Hong Kong still has a different set of rights under UK law from mainland China.
Oh yeah. Even as an Australian its completely different getting Visas. Hong Kong i could travel to tomorrow. Mainland China id need to wait a few weeks and give my full itinerary of what id be doing. BUT Hong Kong isnt a country. Its a special administrative region. Which is why i gave it a pass. However i did notice northeast of Australia New Caledonia is there, and i know that isnt a country. So i guess some small places just got cut. It is ironic though - Singapore doesnt appear to be there either. And Singapore and Hong Kong are the two major airport hubs of Asia-Pacific
@@S2isDrawingDead still when you pass through a Chinese airport there is a sign saying foreign, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan departures this way, domestic flights that way. China gets pissy at people outside China treating those areas as different but China it’s self treats them as “overseas”.

I see a couple of errors in the map: Cyprus is not devided, but that is not possible on the map. The islands between Italy and Spain are not devided. One is France, the other one is Italy. This is douable to adjust. The Spanish and Portugees Islands near East Africa are missing, also the Dutch Antilles is missing. This is near Suriname. There are 176 countries to unlock, but there are about 210 recognized by the UN. Some are so small they would not fit on the map though but people will get upset if they are not mentioned in a list in the opening screen.
Also forgot to add Andorra, Malta, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Monaco and Vatican City to my list above. I am leaving out any political options about Cyprus here.

Early game when you only have five countries it wouldn't really help much to have those menu breakdowns, but late game it would be crucial. It would also help with a problem I have with bordering cities where sometimes even though I connect a route to another city it purchases a country instead of opening that route I picked.
I reached 90 countries
but in the current state I doubt unlocking all countries is possible
Or even if they simply put the color code on the routes selection when you click on a city's routes.

This has been my struggle lol
There’s just not enough money. 😭 even just that Cairo to Dhaka flight is a stretch
I can get to 60% then there is just not enough money. Nice to hear the devs say it isn't possible 😅
The maps we are used to see (Mercator projection) try to keep the continent shape without deformation, but it makes the size of continents very deformed, specially around the poles (that's why Greenland appears bigger than Africa)
The map the game uses is another projection, which name I can't remember, that tries to keep the sizes right and deform the shapes a bit (which makes sense in a game like this).
@@S2isDrawingDead you want to go from Russia to Alaska? Yeah the fastest route is through Europe.😂👍
@@S2isDrawingDead I mean you don't need a 3D map (though it would be cool) to connect from east Asia to west America, wrapping a map is pretty easy to do. The harder one to make sense of for that would be trying to go through the poles, as you effectively have a single point there stretched out to a line, so a line going through a pole would be very weird looking at hard to keep track of if you did multiple going that way
@@S2isDrawingDead nope, you can't unfortunately
I'm going to try unlocking China early on
Looking forward to seeing where this game goes, and even more so looking forward to your next video on this whatever mode it may be in.
Like come on
I don't understand how those costs scale up in the game. It's always ends my runs
The problem with not trying to offend anyone by not including places like Hong Kong is that it’s probably better to acknowledge a group of people exists than to pretend they don’t exist to appease a crybaby empire.
also they have Taiwan as just china???
@@firefrenzygaming1071 Listen, getting your game banned in China can result on serious monetary issues.
Your geography, political and history knowledge is super impressive. I haven't even notice that Hong Kong is not there. Also that China ate Taiwan 😅
Criemea is gone also some Island nations arent there like Palau or Barbedos
I also realised that they did not add many of the pacific islands and maybe the carribean islands too.
@@paultheallknowing layoun in western Sahara should be on the Atlantic coast. technically Morocco control all the major cities.
Also they for some reason made western sahara and somaliland it's own country but not taiwan. (idrc tho lmao)
And nuked Crimea

Western Sahara

French Southern and Antarctic Islands (why...)
I doubt it's a coincidence that you had difficulties with north/south flight lines in Africa when the projection they uses stretches Africa vertically by quite a bit.
it's funny how lucky you actually were in this because every time i played, i kept getting kiev banned after unlocking like 6 cities in ukraine. it drove me nuts to try to manage that.
on the other hand his unlocks were very stretched out, a more circular unlocking pattern would make it a lot easier to ensure alternate routes
My main strategy is on europe you would want as many direct flight, not hub and spoke... Hub and spoke better for intercontinental corridors...
lol I got sydney cut off by weather in the loan scenario right at the start, the scenario is unwinnable without the sydney to Wellington route
Aww. I got so sad when you said you were gonna lose this one. 🥺 I love this series!
30:11 -not necessarily just because of that. Generally speaking, in maps you can choose between getting the size of countriee, the angles or the distance between countries correct, never all three at once. While we use distance for everyday-geography, for ships the ones with correct angles are commonly used.
That Grant really saved your game tbh, I'm really enjoying this series btw
Looking forward to what this game will bring! You can technically leave the game without saving as long as you don’t close the game, when you start another 6 minute challenge it will just resume but the next country will be randomized again.
This actually can make it pretty fun avoiding massive jumps, actually designing routes more with a purpose and more efficiently spending money.
One massive improvement would be if plane speeds would have a little bit of randomness, it’s way too easy to mess up a route early on by spawning and upgrading planes right after each other.
Thanks for the gameplay!
More please! I really enjoyed this series :)
It would be a a game of balancing the flow of people though lol
These are just some thoughts I had, I’m no expert lol.
@@chubs2312 yeah cause you would have up to 5 airplanes between each and be able to distribute the load between the airports :)
The only issue I have found is that the game does not process the fastest route.
I really liked your thoughts about the game! I’m looking forward to another series!
I have been watching for a little while an decided to subscribe. Great videos. :)
nice video, I’m glad UA-cam algorithm recommended this mini series. You got yourself a new sub :)
The border between Sudan and Egypt has just been made a line (in the right side) to avoid controversy
This game is what made me interested in these non mainstream UA-camrs
In terms of the map in this game, it feels like some alternative history map or something as many island nations are missing (major holiday destination that main flight destination). Also Gibraltar isn't Spain. The Maldives are missing completely. Technically PRC and RC both claim the same land but are definitely different nations. I can maybe understand combining a subject state into it's overlord state for simplification (Hong Kong with China, Gibraltar with UK, North Cyprus with Turkey), but San Marino and Vatican city are completely independent (technically Isle of Man is also an independent country).
Can we do Europe challenge mode, I'm really enjoying this though...
just picked this up over christmas period, enjoying the game but was a bit confused seeing the airports showing up, as I had blackpool whereas other people didn't and they had manchester which i didn't.
Would work a little if they're somewhat realistic in location and % increase, but why 1000 people wish to go from shenyang to oran to view the airports architecture I will never know
That was a great attempt of winning the game though! I haven’t reached passed Europe before!
Mercator was how it was because it maintained straight lines, i.e. if your sailing in a ship the shortest straight line route on the map is the shortest straight line route on the globe. Making the Christian world look bigger wasn't a major factor, given that a lot of previous maps weren't as focused on being accurate whilst Mercator was
Lovely series
I feel like you could use more long-haul routes between major countries. Just my opinion. Love the channel
the Kuomintang was the party, the leader was chiang kai shek
Love this series :)
who doesn't
Same!
Playing in the free mode and I started in the US and made tons of money. Got to Africa and Australia and it was insane. The distances in Africa make the routes very expensive. And the transoceanic flights are terrible.
pls do more of these :D
I’ve lost too many games by not doing this lol
there's no Liechtenstein, but they do have Kosovo
there's no micronations at all, such a shame we don't get vatican flights :(
Is there an airport in Liechtenstein?
No it doesn’t
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_without_an_airport
For other places you won’t see in the game
I have wondered about trying to force USA and China in early to be money makers with lots of domestic flights and well paying long flights
And yeah, in the time since these videos i think the logic ive taken on the map layout is - the company is russian.
This was a fun ride
Bought the game and I really enjoyed it. But I also came to that point that i couldn’t afford buying new routes and or upgrade stuff because of the limited time and money that I had. Which was a shame. And also one thing I’d love to see in the game is an easier option to upgrade planes instead of actually having to tap on them.
Can't wait to see this again after things get tweaked a bit. Even in its current state it looks plenty fun
I feel like it has more complexity than mini-motorways, which I absolutely love, but seems to have been pretty much solved by now, where I feel there's a lot more depth to discover about the strategy of this game.
hey greetings from Venezuela, ready to conquer the world!
Can't wait for season 2!
You should have multiple ways among capitals. It's hard. Great job
Maybe maximising your time (until the last minute then unlock next country) and stack up cash helps?
My biggest issue with this mode is when I have a big hub set up and then the hub gets "bad weather" suddenly..... Almost an instant loss if you arent fast enough to reroute everything and upgrade other routes to compensate.
great job man
North Macedonia is still named Macedonia on the map even though the name changed in February 2019.
Fun Fact: South Sudan is the newest country by splitting from Sudan in 2011.
Optimal Markov Chain Simulator
I like your videos
Thank you, i like your feedback :)
Cities that cost less than 100should connect each other as the support route
the newest country I noticed is South Sudan (2011) and there is Somaliland which the UN doesn't recognize.
The android version of this is much more easier. You can watch ads to increase passengers traveling, you can unlock a new country for free and also you can get money from other countries, just by watching ads. Yesterday i got an offer to watch an ad and Macedonia would pay me 900k in cash 💀
Doesn’t the green number in the City - infopanel say the „Population“ of the city?
I think that number is saying what the next upgrade to the airport will give. EG if the airport can currently hold 3000 people that green number will be 6000.
@@S2isDrawingDead well that may also be the case ;)
I think maybe you could have gotten further if you had a few routes from Moscow/Europe to china, possibly converting a smaller city next to say Beijing into a hub with a short flight to Beijing, that way you could have an extra set of planes going between Europe and Asia and put less stress on that one route
Don’t create U shapes. Connect neighboring Capitals since that’s a main route. Closing a U to make a O will decrease traffic
A prime example is Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh
I wouldn't have the attention span to play this game but it's oddly satisfying to hear your rationalizations for every move. thanks for sharing!

Well just turkey recognize the northern part of Cyprus
And there are 196 countries members of the UN
isn't there a growing movement in north cyprus for reunification?
Also forgot to add Andorra, Malta, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Monaco and Vatican City to my list above. I am leaving out any political options about Cyprus here.
