This one really hurt the heart. Kevin Spacey was one of my favorite actors. I feel so betrayed by him. It makes me so angry that I had to smash all the movies I had with him in them.
TheTennessee Tenor This is false hysteria, there's no accusations of rape, just "touching", with no further explanation. You realize that could be anything, right? I haven't seen this amount of vague accusations against someone straight, it's only because he's gay people feel uncomfortable around his flirting. I understand how the feel if they aren't gay, but I don't see how it's his fault.

Tourists Discover I knew it could happen anywhere but I guess I didn’t fully appreciate it. I see how people have a hard time believing when victims come forward bc I’m finding have to check my own bias as he’s my favorite actor. I’m one of those who has taken a premiere day off of work to watch the entire season in one sitting. It’s just sad that I was admiring him while there were powerless people being hurt, their pain is not worth my enjoyment of what really was a fabulous show and career.
It's 00blade How are they being hurt? Where are they being touched? Is he actually groping them or not? This isn't clear to me. One is way worse than the other. Simple flirting is not a bad thing. Maybe the straight men were uncomfortable with it but they didn't want to come forward? I can understand how they felt, but it wasn't Kevin's fault for flirting. If he was groping, then that's wrong.
notorio that's an opinion, and not one widely shared. Oh I'll grant droves of people will now say as much, but I'll bet to most of they it'll be a newly formed opinion in light of this news. That's a failure on their part to separate personal misconduct from professional performance. Sure he's had some mediocre roles, like lex Luther, but the man did win an academy award. You don't do that without decent acting chops. And to basically say "everyone else is wrong because they don't agree with my opinion" is a rather arrogant and narrow minded statement on any subject. Just saying.
Men can be victims? Men are the biggest martyrs only when it happens to them. Most men roll their eyes and minimize non-men non-white suffering. Cut the crap. If it was semi-famous actress who claimed "30 YEARS AGO I WAS RAPED BY DONALD TRUMP", guess what would happen? Sympathy, justice? Or condemnation, re-victimization of the victim, or death threat on her and her lawyer? Did anyone even care that Trump and Epstein's child rape lawsuit was canceled due to intimidation? WHY? WHY THE EXTREME DOUBLE STANDARD? Females aren't human?
"If they did, they’d be blackballed by Spacey for life" what makes you think Spacey has a career or any power now? It's pretty much over for him. He's box office poison now.
Say it ain't so Spacey! He's such a great actor and talented individual. I met him a few years ago at a John Lennon tribute in NYC. He sang the song Mind Games and I was very impressed. If these allegations are true, it is very unfortunate.
I'm truly disappointed by this news. I've always been a Spacey fan and it sucks one of my artistic idles is a dirtbag. Are there any decent people left in the world?
Yes, There are millions no, billions of decent people but the news understandably covers the creeps usually. It would be hard to have a story on all the decent people. We do need to be aware of the creeps though.
What we are really seeing is the death of one of the last vestiges of Old Hollywood. By this I mean the widespread public tolerance of a predatory and abusive entertainment machine which has largely defined Tinseltown culture going all the way back to the days of D.W. Griffith.
I feel it should be an expected basic right to be able to go to work and not be subjected to unwanted sexual advances, sexual harassment and lewd and crude comments.
I think another important part to add is the employee doesn't want to effect other people at the job, as in this case the show has been shut down, so all of the other people they were close to may now have no job. It is one thing to hold a personal burden on yourself when speaking out but to know that it could effect others you care about makes it much harder.
Anonymous DueToFascists Okay, but you sounded a little bit too serious in your first comments, that's the problem, you never know who's for real and who's not in these comments on TYT and no shortage of trolls here either. You must admit it though, you would love to have 90% of women begging you to get naked.
Any time I read a story about an actor who was "discovered" by a producer/agent on an elevator, at a grocery store, etc. without any ounce of talent being shown, I think: predator.
I'm really saddened. I really thought that Kevin wasn't that type of guy to go around giving unwanted attention. That being said, there needs to be corporate reminders to submit anything on harassment, sure there was the one incident, but there needs to be an announcement to encourage people to keep coming forward.
I'm a bit surprised that TYT didn't cover what seems to be the story of the day... The Trump administration itself has now released a climate assessment report that claims _humans_ are to blame for climate change, contradicting the opinions of Trump and Scott Pruitt. Maybe the story broke just a little too late to include it in today's show? Because it's a helluva lot more important/groundbreaking than "Another Hollywood Actor is a Creep."

Stop trying to blame Netflix for this. Any victim of this type behavior feels like they attacker was too powerful to come forward. This is the predator fault alone, and it seems to be address immediately.
Sounds like Kevin Spacey (although a talented actor) has a thoroughly nasty, petty personality that treats those who've helped him achieve success, like dirt beneath his feet.
Jacob Wilkins Well if the show ends, basically the "they spoke anonymously for fear of losing their job" will backfire on them. They will loose their job anyway.
+Waleed Mohamed I wouldn't say it's taking the heat off. If anything, I think it's extending the Weinstein conversation everytime a new asexual abuse accusation comes out.
It doesn't even have to be true, that he will fire you if you don't sleep with him. The fact that he has that power and you think he might makes it wrong.
Well, now I’m just disappointed. I’d hoped the star of a film like Pay It Forward would be better behaved. I’d heard about the Anthony Rapp incident and had hoped it was some weird and creepy drunken incident. Clearly the guy needs help. I’m highly disappointed.
There are many things sad about this situation but to me it's really bad for the people who work on the show House of Cards because they will probably all lose their jobs since the show very well may get cancelled over this. So in the end, it's kind of like their fears of losing their jobs by speaking out have come true and they're not even the ones who initiated this particular chain of events.
The darkside of Hollywood's glamour, fame, and influence. I can't believe this went on for so long undetected since the start of his career. Who knew Frank Underwood was Frank Fitts. Disappointing.
Somebody works hard, maybe goes to college for four years to learn their craft. They finally get a job on a big show (background, PA, AD..etc..). Then the guy who is charge and the STAR of the show implies you have to play grab ass with him or you won't keep your job. .... C'mon it's not hard to figure out this is wrong.
Well with the new information coming out, I now realize Spacy's response to Rapp was horrible on both parts. He likely was not blacked out, and he probably did remember. Either way what he does is a re-occurring theme in his live.
Its understandable how being in a difficult foundation can make it hard to hold to your principles.. but its still your responsibility to hold to them.
IMHO Stacey looked, to me, that he was some kind of weirdo, however, I did not expect this. Don't people know how to behave. His excuse for his behaviour "oh I am gay" that still does not excuse you. Now he and Weinstein are getting rehabilitated at Gentle Meadows, horse back riding, swimming, yoga, etc., shoot I would go there too.
Sexual misconduct is wrong whether it comes from a straight or gay person. There are some individuals who think it is acceptable to grope someone they like, or subject others to lewd suggestions. I can only conclude that they do not have the courage to start up a relationship in a normal way, they need some kind of immediate gratification. Whether gay, bisexual or straight, there is something mentally wrong with this type of sexual predator.
Damn. As shitty as this is, I’m not going to let this ruin the name Kevin for me. Anybody else have that feeling some of the time? Like the name Donald or George or whatever other name is polluted because of someone? But there are bad people who have had every common name before.
I'm reminded of a story Shirley Temple-Black told in her autobiography 'Child Star'........in which she was summoned to the office of the head of her studio. By that time, she was in her late teens, and still under contract......& lookin' pretty hot. This dude started chasing her around his desk, but she managed to fend him off, and got out of there.....with her dignity intact. A GREAT book if you ever get a chance to read it. All sorts of stories in there on old Hollywood.
jhogrute From the description: Young Turk (n), 1. Young progressive or insurgent member of an institution, movement, or political party. 2. A young person who rebels against authority or societal expectations.(American Heritage Dictionary)
I'm just heartbroken. Such a talented actor, seemingly such a nice guy. I'm bracing myself set to see many other beloved actors, directors, producers, and probably CEOs fall. Hopefully people will speak up if they experience sexual harassment. No career is worth having to endure that or allowing these men to harass others.
"seemingly such a nice guy" Based on what? Being charming on a talk show to promote his latest project? Don't confuse that with real life. Spacey played an asshole extremely well on screen. It's less impressive now that I realize he had to do very little acting.
Yes, that's why I said "seemingly". Are you telling me that you have zero opinion of people that you don't know very well? I kind of doubt that. We form opinions by what we know, be it little or much.
I know a man that reported to RAINN and they ignored his pleas for help. he called multiple times. It sucks that they would know that info about men and still not help
I felt extremely selfish that the first time I heard about Kevin spacey sexually assaulting that young boy, that one of my first reactions was that I'm most likely never getting a season 6. I feel really bad that, that was one of the first thoughts that popped into my head
Well, we all have dark thoughts, for me it is about loving my dark self too then laughing and saying how silly that thought is. I thought the same thing but my love for people overshadows my love for the show at the end of the day. I think its about time we hold these people accountable for the crimes that they commit. No matter who it is this needs to stop. The thing is you feel bad for thinking that- there are people who have silenced those that he abused because they care more about the show or movie than anything else. I wonder if they feel bad for actively perpetuating this abuse by not holding people accountable. Making hollywood people think they can do anything and they are above us all is silly..... they poop just like us!
Second Take Well they feel safe now to reveal what Kevin Spacey did to them because the show has been put on hiatus but with all those new allegations of sexual misconduct, House of Cards will be cancelled or they might return without Spacey as a cast member. Although, the show is so much about Frank Underwood that it will be difficult not to have his character on the show.
Respectable and dignified would have been coming out as soon as you learned of this behaviour. Not hopping on the bandwagon as soon as this show already got wrecked behind all these allegations.
Spacey, until Rapp came forward, was the King on the set. I am positive that crew members would have been fired if one of them came forward prior to Rapp's allegation.
Damn, his Kevin Spacey Foundation apparently does great work to help disadvantaged people get into the arts. Why did he have to go and mess everything up?

Stop trying to blame Netflix for this. Any victim of this type behavior feels like they attacker was too powerful to come forward. This is the predator fault alone, and it seems to be address immediately.
Sounds like Kevin Spacey (although a talented actor) has a thoroughly nasty, petty personality that treats those who've helped him achieve success, like dirt beneath his feet.
And that's why he belongs in the same deplorables waste basket as Trump. For every person he ever threatened, harassed and so on.
Ugh, now we will never know how House of Cards ends.
Sayuas These are allegations, I guess innocent until proven guilty is just gone now... smh
Underwood assassinated.
Jacob Wilkins Well if the show ends, basically the "they spoke anonymously for fear of losing their job" will backfire on them. They will loose their job anyway.
So no one is talking about Harvey Weinstein anymore.
Waleed Mohamed mmmm... do you think s a distraction payed by Weinstein? He has the money to do that.
not necessarily but Kevin Spacey is surly taking the heat away from Harvey
+Waleed Mohamed I wouldn't say it's taking the heat off. If anything, I think it's extending the Weinstein conversation everytime a new asexual abuse accusation comes out.
When are the enablers going on trial? Everybody in power who had knowledge but chose to let it be (pimping) should be held accountable.
" HEY MAN THIS IS WHAT IT'S LIKE, LET ME BUY YOU A COFFEE. ! " HAAAAAAAAAAA
Kevin Spacey should star in a sequel to American Beauty where he falls in love with a young boy and kills himself at the end.
Brady Yoon
Your fantasies are very dark, lady.
It doesn't even have to be true, that he will fire you if you don't sleep with him. The fact that he has that power and you think he might makes it wrong.
Corey Feldman has been saying this for years -Never Forget
This has been going on for 6 years and they are trying to say that the higher ups didn’t know! Really?
Be careful with this stance. You are dangerously close to executing a predator's defence.
Spacey pickup line: "Hey Ace, if you play your cards right & deal from the bottom, I'll give you a full flush!"
It has been told for years that he liked very young guys. It has finally caught up with him.
Kevin "I don't respect boys personal" Spacey.
Never got into House of Cards because Kevin Spacey gave me a weird bad feeling. Glad people have came out against this creepy predator.
RIP house of cards :/
The darkside of Hollywood's glamour, fame, and influence. I can't believe this went on for so long undetected since the start of his career. Who knew Frank Underwood was Frank Fitts.
Disappointing.
Also: The house of cards really lived up to its name and toppled over...like a house of cards.
Who needs evidence when we've got anonymous allegations.
I WILL NEVER FORGET WHAT KEVIN DID TO PETER & ZOEY!
Funny how no one talks about criminal charges
Just because you're clueless doesn't mean people haven't been talking about criminal charges.
The rape is past the statute of limitations.
Well with the new information coming out, I now realize Spacy's response to Rapp was horrible on both parts. He likely was not blacked out, and he probably did remember. Either way what he does is a re-occurring theme in his live.
Damn hollywood. Hopefully people will stop worshipping these people and think for themselves.
Damn Hollywood.
Won't happen. Humans like our gods too much. They are too tied up with how we perceive the world.
Its understandable how being in a difficult foundation can make it hard to hold to your principles.. but its still your responsibility to hold to them.
This has never been handled or addressed. Throw these fkrs in prison, and done.
IMHO Stacey looked, to me, that he was some kind of weirdo, however, I did not expect this. Don't people know how to behave. His excuse for his behaviour "oh I am gay" that still does not excuse you. Now he and Weinstein are getting rehabilitated at Gentle Meadows, horse back riding, swimming, yoga, etc., shoot I would go there too.
old news, alex jones was the first as usual
Sexual misconduct is wrong whether it comes from a straight or gay person. There are some individuals who think it is acceptable to grope someone they like, or subject others to lewd suggestions. I can only conclude that they do not have the courage to start up a relationship in a normal way, they need some kind of immediate gratification. Whether gay, bisexual or straight, there is something mentally wrong with this type of sexual predator.
Shmuly BeitParzal HGTudor has a fascinating blog where he has written about spacey really worth a look.
What a creep.
you guys are neither young nor Turkish
yet eager for radical change to the established order
jhogrute From the description: Young Turk (n), 1. Young progressive or insurgent member of an institution, movement, or political party. 2. A young person who rebels against authority or societal expectations.(American Heritage Dictionary)
Bartholomew yes and both definitions have young in it. and i think by now, these guys are quite a part of the established order.
awndrei talking about change is their job, not the change itself
He's like Mr. Jellybean from Rick and Morty.
wouldnt surprise me if that was deliberate
I'm just heartbroken. Such a talented actor, seemingly such a nice guy. I'm bracing myself set to see many other beloved actors, directors, producers, and probably CEOs fall. Hopefully people will speak up if they experience sexual harassment. No career is worth having to endure that or allowing these men to harass others.
"seemingly such a nice guy"
Based on what? Being charming on a talk show to promote his latest project? Don't confuse that with real life. Spacey played an asshole extremely well on screen. It's less impressive now that I realize he had to do very little acting.
Yes, that's why I said "seemingly". Are you telling me that you have zero opinion of people that you don't know very well? I kind of doubt that. We form opinions by what we know, be it little or much.
I just finished saying that he plays a bad guy almost a little too well, and now this came out!
house of cards is apparently appropriately named...
Man I liked Kevin spacey
same
I know a man that reported to RAINN and they ignored his pleas for help. he called multiple times.
Be nice to yourself, ThebubbleySquirtle. We feel what we feel.
ThebubbleySquirtle I felt the same
Well, we all have dark thoughts, for me it is about loving my dark self too then laughing and saying how silly that thought is.
Seems like the set was no safe spacey for some people...
I thought something might have been off after watching American Beauty
I am glad the House of Cards people are coming forward now and not 10 or 20 years from now! Your job is not as important as your respect and dignity.
Kevin's only spreading the "love"
his father/abuser showed him!!!
Spacey, until Rapp came forward, was the King on the set. I am positive that crew members would have been fired if one of them came forward prior to Rapp's allegation.
What goes there.? is it a bird.? Is it a plane.?. No it's Spacey's career going out of the window...
typecasting.?
Damn, his Kevin Spacey Foundation apparently does great work to help disadvantaged people get into the arts. Why did he have to go and mess everything up?
I feel sorry for the poor actors that got fired because of this guy!
anyone working on house of cards who spoke out could have cause people to fail to pay their rent
