I recognized a few of these locations and agreed with their placement. I am always excited to try out new areas, so i am glad there were many in this video that i had not thought of!
My current fresh playthrough I've started on south 2 and set up on the southern strip of land in that area. There's a nice cave to build and house early tames in and 2 explorer's notes to get a leg up on levels(I'm currently running a ramp override that balances out the xp to level with fairly low rates for a feel of actual tech progression). Also pretty safe unless you're running ark additions 'cause there's a deinosuchus tearing hell in the water 200m from my base that makes me, my pack of parasaurs/dilos, and wood structures very nervous.
Bro I am not gonna build in caves or on Obs in single player lol. I am pretty sure both are disabled with default settings. Cave building is disabled, and Obs have a radius around them in which you cannot build. Would love to have seen more PVE locations that focus on beauty, location, and buildability. There's a spot along the river across from the north side of the redwoods that I like to build on. It's near the center of the map, so everything is convenient. It is right near the Tek Cave mountain which has tons of resources, it is next to a dense jungle and across from the redwoods so there is tons of wood and fiber, and it is extremely flat making it so you can build to your heart's content.
I'm a PVP player but once ASA releases for PS5, I plan to play solo and for me my first thought was to build at an obelisk. I was thinking green. Brood can be your first boss fight and you can easily upload your army to download at another ob. Also taming wise with no cryos, you can upload at a drop and download back at base. Personally, I'm the complete opposite of you, obs make so much sense at least until you get transmitter and on Island, that is going to be very late game
The 'tier list' meta on UA-cam is definitely oversaturated, but high quality, comprehensive videos like this one are well worth the watch. Nice work Rampy 👍
Thanks for the vid. Can I suggest showing where the locations are on a map? I searched easy and hard water cave and they don't come up. I'll figure it out watching other cave videos but that'd help. Thanks again.
Uhhhhh south zone 1 beach hut is s tier, its always where I spawn. Right as I start getting some good tames, a spino will spawn and eat them, making me start on a new map.
How in the hell does anyone stay on herbivore island long term? I have put foundations all over the place and it’s wiped out all the metal spawns and 3/4ths of the trees/rocks and there are still brontos and shit spawning all over the place.
My first base ever in ASE was near red ob, at the small water fall, it holds so many memories as well as the hill across from it where the explore note is I miss those days
As this being a late comment i've gotta say you have inspired me to move to Blue obelisk Once i have my Hands on some good fur armor I am currently playing In evolved and am 30 Hours in With my base location being 47 lat and 47 Long I love it because it is Central and makes it easy to traverse, But the thing that Bums me is that to fly to the north takes just as long to get to the south, so i have been searching for a Base location that could get Me one corner of the map in my possetion Thx
I build a base at 48 48. The cliff outcrop bordering the river between volcano and redwood. Its spacious enough to build a decent base. Medium sized i think. Depending on your creatifity
I never use any of those locations. perhaps it just me but i find it tacky to build on fixed server-shared assets. there's a nice cliff near the mid of map just above a cave that i like for it's resource access and easily cleared space.

the maw is my favorite base location because is very central and close to metal, obsidian, crystal, poly, silica, and good tames.

Seeing as most of the playerbase is PvE, yeah it'd make sense to be more pve oriented with a couple pvp

My fav is in between the 2 mountains above the redwood purely because it’s in the middle off the map and it’s flat with plenty room for boss breeding

hidde lake is not as good as it was before
Yeah Rexes spawn there now and not only is that a little bit of a problem I also prefer not to block Rex spawns

The most underrated spots are the ones in the middle of nowhere because on pvp no one will look there and on pve it’s very secluded and hidden.

Right behind stone hedge at the bottom left corner of the map there is a nice bas location with a hidden lake
doesnt there spawn a drop directly on the pillar? i e cant build there or is that a non issue for official pvp?
