I know you miss your lil helper and we miss her too! Lol! But i could watch you all day too! Love your compassion for the hobby! I have the same awesome hobby also!!
Hey Mike very nice Hunts there. Hoping big time you found a Grape Shot Mike. That is awesome. Love the General Service Button and Fancy Button. Congrats on all the Wheaties, IHPs, War Nickles, Mercury's and Rosie's. Especially the New Jersey Copper. Love the Marble also. Take Mike Hpoe the Family is doing Great.
Nice finds, young man! The eagle button looks like the type that had a ring through the back and, I was told many years ago, was later than the civil war....but that's been many years ago. The "grape shot" is nothing like the type I've dug from civil war sites....they were all smaller solid lead shot and the canister shot was solid iron....not sure what yours is. The bullet looks very similar to a .38 or .44 Sharps - Gomez and Mills multi groove variant. The "cartridge" case on them was untreated paper. They were considered sporting rifles and were used during the Civil War...at least that's what it looks like. Great finds! Thanks, as always, for letting us tag along... very much appreciated! Take care, be safe and God bless!
the bullet looks like a ring tailed sharps and wow that jersey copper was sweet ! also nice eagle button and looks to be a staff officers button civil war era . good stuff 🤙🏴☠️
Great hunts there Mike! Love the military button of course! Definitely looks like a grape shot! I wish I could just go into any park here I'm Massachusetts bit every town has different laws. Near Boston area, forget about it 😆 it's all protected. I used to dig at park near me with a permit but then the city stopped doing permits and voted it illegal to dig! Such a bummer. Wicked happy hunting!
@DigginDuo yes it sure does!! Just got a recent great spot though! Silver Assassin and I went this week and will definitely be back! The owners were awesome and we found some 1700s relics!! The history is there!
You sure get around. You deserve the rewards you get just for your perservence . People will be following you around just to detect the spots you find. Nice finds once again.
@@hardyakka6200 haha, that’s why I try and be discreet. I don’t live near most of these places so it wouldn’t be right to blow it up. Thanks as always. Btw, she came out with me the other day and we’re headed out again soon
Emma is sure missing a lot! But her Dad Mike is killing it in the fields! Could the ball be a topper to a weather vain or a lightning rod? Keep on diggin Mike, Emma will surely come around eventually! ✌️😊
Fun watching your videos for a good time now. Is the shot hollow??? If so, there were small grenades about that size during the French & Indian War period and possibly up to the Revolution. Had a fues that was hand lit carried by special troops. Good example of such a small grenade is in the Fort Legioner Museum in Pennsylvania... However all examples were made of iron. Something to look into.
Thanks Douglas, really appreciate that and glad you enjoyed it. Judging from its weight, it could be somewhat hollow enough for powder but I’m pretty sure it’s lead.
The muffin type button appears to be NY Militia officers. With buttons it’s always about backmarks/makersmarks. I would gently clean the back and see if there is one. If there is it should authenticate it and give a general time/era for it. As far as the lead ball weigh and measure it. There are various “shot guide” websites for 17th to 19th century projectiles. Shot were made with specific sizes. Even with the corrosion it should fall within the tolerances if it is a military projectile.

Will do. Still in the high 90s here. Kinda of unheard of here at 6500 above sea level. Global warming I suppose.

@@louiezenti8631 excellent feedback Louie. Thanks very much
The lead ball that you found looks like civil war canister shot rather than grape shot.

@@donhoughton271 thanks
Looks like the gear shifter knob from an old tractor
@@russharrison8524 I saw that too at 1st but it’s solid lead
Yeah a tractor knob would be wood or steel, I'm pretty sure it's not grapeshot though, they didn't have fuse holes
@@russharrison8524 hmmm, puzzling. Thanks again
I have found grape shot, mine were solid and iron. Don't know if that helped any.
