    I have read all the novels except Djin Patrol. And I love love love your content. But as an Indian and as a dedicated reader of Translated literature I hope you include the great works like Feluda By Satyajit Ray, Works of The Polymath Rabindranath Tagore and novels by More regional writers (PS - I can North eastern writers are mind-blowing from my own reading experience). I love that you named Arunava Sinha because he is a huge name in the Translation realm. I encourage more people to devour his works. And I love you guys, you all do a great great job. I'm so happy that you did an Indian edition to your recommendations series.

      I’ve been interested in Northeast Indian literature lately. I think I’m going to buy some books by Arupa Kalita Patangia. Who else would you recommend?

    I loved this book recommendation. I am so glad you suggested books of different writers other than Arundhati roy or Amitav ghosh, because everyone knows them, they are the face of contemporary indian literature, but i think other great writers need recognition too.

    Here's a suggestion, Cobalt Blue by Sachin Kundalkar. A beautiful beautiful book. It was originally written in a regional language but has been well translated into English. I hope you enjoy it :)

    I genuinely think you should read Hungry Tide by Amitav Ghosh and everything Rabindranath Tagore wrote( he did win the nobel prize in literature afterall ) Some of the few recommendations of his masterpieces are Chokher Bali or ‘A grain of sand’ , Gora, The post master , ghare baire ( home and the world) . Also it's so exciting to see your favourite person on the internet recommending you Indian books ❤️😱
    I absolutely love your content and recommend you to practically everyone I meet . I've read all of them except djinn patrol on purple line. Will put that in my tbr. Thankyou for being so wholesome and amazing 😭❤️

    I generally don't read too many happy books and when I try reading my not-so-happy books from India, they hit too close to home ><
    so I tend to read fewer than I should 😰
    I do want to read Yogini after hearing its description though. Another nice video! :)

    • @WillowTalksBooks
      @WillowTalksBooks  3 роки тому +2

      I totally understand! Reading upsetting books set in my own country, that highlight the political bleakness of our own lives, it hits too close to home, like you said! But The Yogini is definitely worth your time, I promise!

      @@Djcooksandbooks Me too. It never sits right with me that I read books from everywhere but my own country. I picked up Ghachar Ghochar the other day on a friend's recommendation and the title at least has me really intrigued. Hope you have a good time reading The Yogini

    Jhumpa Lahiri, Amitav Ghosh, and Benyamin should have made it to the list if it is meant to be a list of contemporary Indian novels. And if one really wants to dig into Indian novels/literary works, they should read Tagore, Sarat and Bankim Chatterjee, Premchand, Mahasweta Devi, Mulk Raj Anand, Manto, and Chugtai.

    • @WillowTalksBooks

      One is very grateful for these kind recommendations, which were put forth so gracefully. As one mentioned in one's video, this is a list of books that one has so far read and enjoyed. More lists will come in the future once one has read and enjoyed more contemporary Indian novels.

    Krishana Sobti
    PREM Chand
    Muktibodh poems
