00:00:00 Episode 1: Life in Lockdown
How hard is life in prison? We explore the prison regime through the eyes of officers and inmates in Changi’s Maximum-security prison. How does an inmate live in a single-man cell? In this first episode, we enter a world behind bars to meet the inmates. We follow Graceson, a gangster who manages to get himself a new tattoo in prison and is duly caned for it; Khai, a professional skateboarder who is just coming to terms with the loss of his career; Rusdi who is counting down to his release in 50 days using packets of snacks; And Boon Keng gets into trouble for keeping origami in his cell during a cell search.
00:44:54 Episode 2: Keeping Bonds Beyond Bars
An inmate sentenced to maximum security prison has nothing more to lose. Or so some would think. But losing one’s freedom is nothing compared to losing one’s family. We follow the residents of maximum security as they try to hang on to their relationships while in lockdown. Boon Keng attempts to reconnect with a daughter that he has not seen in years.
01:29:37 Episode 3: Breaking Bad Habits
Life in maximum security is predictable. It’s rules, routines, and rigor. No questions asked. No choices were given. But what happens when inmates step out into a world where they’re free to make decisions? Desperate to break his cycle of reoffending, Boon Keng takes matters into his own hands and seeks to confront his greatest obstacle. After being given a new lease on life, Iskandar grasps an opportunity he neglected in his childhood. Rusdi’s loved ones try to dissuade him from returning to a career that sent him on a downward spiral. Under the supervision of psychologists, Khai revisits his dark past.
02:14:49 Episode 4: Road To Freedom
In the finale, our inmates try to ready themselves for their eventual return to the real world beyond the gates of Changi Prison. Graceson seeks help from a psychologist to prepare him for a call with his daughter, whom he has not spoken to for a year. Khai takes another step in managing his emotions, by counseling other inmates in managing theirs. Boon Keng is granted an interview for a program that would see him serving the last third of his sentence in the community, but will he be able to convince his interviewers that he will not return to drugs? After 20 years, Iskandar is taking his ‘O’ levels again, how will he fare this time? Rusdi’s will be released in a matter of days; will he be able to stay out of trouble, and get released as scheduled?

The questions asked and answered in this complete series:
How hard is life in prison?
How do you keep bonds beyond the prison bars?
How do you break the bad habits that got you there? And finally, what does the road to freedom look like?
Anyone had experience with any of the above, please share in the comments if you’re up for it. We don’t judge and everyone deserves a second chance.
I was having a bit of a hard day today but watching this and seeing you all smile and enjoying life has cheered me right up - thanks for that
Been looking forward to this for a while !
I slept in a cell for 24 hours no mattress and I can say it is one of the most brutal feelings ever . If this doesn’t wanna make you stop doing crimes then think twice because it’s truly brutal that these men live with no mattress don’t commit crimes people not worth it sleeping on go sleep on a concrete for 30 minutes you will see the real pain of prison
Just watched the “San pedro” documentary and this is literally heaven by comparison
I wish there were sleeping mats, caning, psychotherapy, work training, prison school, and a point system for inmates in U.S. prisons, too. It looks pretty effective in keeping crime and recidivism low
There is social inequality in all sectors of society, for example in the USA where the government doesn't care about Hispanics, Afro-Americans, Surenos... they just want taxes for their money
Yeah I agree that system seems to work but there is way to many people in America to implement a single cell program. There is way too many locked up but I agree this is a very good strategy
Our problem here in the U.S. isn't in our prison system so much as it is in our streets but nobody wants to acknowledge that for fear of being called the "R" word. In reality, it's not racist at all when you realize the problems not only exist in the streets of urban society but also the rural back roads of middle America.
Except all of people as have seen so far in this program have multiple incarcerations. But who knows, maybe in the larger population.
Very good
Dude got 3 years 4 months for drug consumption.. Imagine if we (the US) charged people for drug consumption?!
The US already has the largest prison population worldwide. It would be crazy to add more to that.
@@larskuester2425more prison or jail drugs destroyed 3 generations of people
It's actually a lesser sentence after a judicial review in recent years (depending on "Schedules" of the drugs, of course).
We used to and that's how our prison system got so full
Ugh we do. If you od and live it's called internal possession you get arrested.
good music does help people mellow out..
No mattress is totally inhumane
Normally I would agree but not sleeping on a mattress but on a hard surface is common for non imprisoned people in many parts of the world.
OMG you wouldn't survive on any of these 3rd world countries,,that have absolutely nothing,.f**k them they can go without a mattress.
Some countries don't even know what a mattress is. These inmates sleep on the floor as a way of punishment.
Tell that to the crimes they committed
Definitely FAM
This is the first post Covid series of its kind that I'm aware of ! Really looking forward to seeing what that time was like behind bars ! Thanks for the upload !
Hope you enjoy it
Im 40 mins in and havent noticed anything about covid yet. Would love to see it too tho.
They were letting alot of people out of jail/prison early when covid first started. Probably not anyone in maximum security tho
Also just type in "covid behind bars" and you'll see lots of stuff on it. Some docs. Some news stuff ect. Dunno about a whole series tho.
Because covid is just a taste of what prison is @@lc4life369
Cool video
I'd love to see the shock on these correctional officers' faces if they worked in the Los Angeles County Jail or any State of California Prison. They wouldn't last a week. This prison is like Disneyland compared to the aforementioned. Pelican Bay, like no way.
Proof that America is a shittier country than Signapore.
None of these documentaries even come close to being as good as the series lockup/lockup raw, or the series, hard times. JAIL, was ok, but it’s starting to feel like I’ve watched everything good in the prison genre. If anyone has any recommendations, for a good documentary similar to lockup or Hard Times, it be greatly appreciated? MSNBC, hit out the park w/ LockUp, and so did NatGeo, w/ Hard Times, as well. BOL 🙏🏻🇺🇸
I’m assuming you’ve already seen the “Most Dangerous Prisons” series here on YT?
just commenting so ill get the recommendations too
Same
LMAO Its like i wrote this...100 percent agree MSNBC had the near perfect show it blows my mind that they chose not to continue it....i thought for sure some1 would pick show up bye now..But i must say this one here is the most well run prison well behaved show....\Prison
What does "strokes" (under their sentence length) mean?
Caning
Is this Malaysia, Singapore, or Indonesia? I'm guessing Singapore.
Singapore, kebanyakan penjaga aparat nya orang India.
The conditions are way too harsh! You cannot make origami……..how ridiculous!
No bed or chair? Sits on ground all day is harsh man.
Put about 10 American max inmates in there and see how it works out.
Oh theyed have a big wreck in this house⚡️⚡️
No beds in the cells?
This is a "fancy" prison.
😂
The cells are empty box's... the poor fu#*ers haven't even got a bed ..... A BED
More prisons should be more rehabilitation places.
This place looks amazing and the variety of food, so much better than living on the streets.
😢 this is sad to read
I seen some people say that they wished there were subtitles if you hit the CC button for closed captions and wait it will start giving you subtitles remember to wait for it to kick in it took a little longer than I thought it should
How do you get the rights to these documentaries?
Dude hade 2 strokes ? Or 2 Strikes ? 😂
Wow they live better tahn me!
2:04 Said my father inlaw when he pushed me 6 steps down falling on my baby bump, from direct impact I lost my daughter. (When I walked past his room I heard him speaking to another another lady. I continued to walk to go down acting like I heard nothing, but he clocked on & kept asking if I’ll say anything etc Me: Don’t tell anyone what? I’m not sure what your referring to. Would you like a cuppa? (Trying to change subject in a calm respectful manner)
It's so calm & clean unlike the US which is just utter chaos.
Looks good as.single cell bible
Kartka papieru , wiem że można krzywdę zrobić ,ale to już za dużo żeby jedzenie zabierać 😢
What country is this? Most people speak English?
singapore
They're having a good life compared to inmate's in Philippines.
Graceson is so handsome!!!
China need to ease up on the death penalty for drugs bit harsh
Everyone of these foreign prison staffs treat their inmates far more humanely than US prison staffs (I've never been in handcuffs in my life).
Maybe it's because they have been treated like animals? You ever been arrested in Florida?
@@brendanmctigue9641 I'm missing your point. Please elaborate. I've never been arrested in Florida or anywhere else.
@@brendanmctigue9641even animals are not like US prisoners who fight constantly for no reason
Just watching 60 in jail ...
This is max prison? 🤔
Colonel Braddock😂
5 years for being on drugs and intimidating someone, wtf lol
It's a crime in America 🇺🇸 💯
Dehumanizing. Force people to exist competing for basic needs, then dehumanize them for the guaranteed, resulting social strife.
This place seems to have it all under control, responsible & polite guards, prisoners always help . IT looks like a tough life, Esp NO TV IN CELLS, Kettles etc LIKE IN THE UK. The cells are bare with just a push button shower system which is a nightmare, a book to read & their own thoughts about what their in for & how lonely life can be when you need to express yourself, the guy excepted it was his punishment, & I respect anyone who is like him. In the us it's all a big game.
1:07 just saving my place, watch rest later or not lol, seems so boring in those cells, I think if just sleep, what misery though on hard floor
I was in a contained mental ward and they are moving next year picture the boys out walking in the dining yard noone has ever been in that❤😊
HOW MUCH WORK.....FROM LITL CHILD BIS GOOD MAN.....
24:52-24:55
638’s

Revelations- ALL STATES GEICO
Who will help me embark on some of these documentaries?
but rather earning minimum wage than stealing or trafficking...think about your unthinkable acts and it will have a major impact on your future and destroy your family
And here we Canadians and Americans are always whining our prisons are bad.
We are so entitled and take things for granted when we obviously havint experianced anything like this.
Some say we look like we got eaten and still alive
If the USA would stop encouraging the behavior by treating the inmates like animals and actually start to rehabilitate them. I think USA would start to see a recidivism rate go down.
this is ridiculous, are they mad, way tooooo harsh
Another Hotel
Subtitles would be great.
It's not necessary...they are talking English...LISTEN 👂
All prisoners should work hard for food. No work, no food. And there should be TV channel in every country to show life in prison is hard. Maybe then some people would think twice.
Well, how about getting them to socialize into functional people, instead of being criminals!
Working with them to be a positive member of society, works in 60% of the time.
Some are not to be resocialized, so be it, but the majority are. That's positive - all depending which country they are incarcerated in..
Do NOT have that attitude towards all inmates, that is just cruel
Thats slavery
He's frustrated. Poor baby. We're you when committing crime? sorry you stress for unlocking cell sound. You're alright. You get free therapy, unlike victims
Lose the nose ring
Ah yes! But who flung poo?
BourghesieHongKongCommunismn?😊😊😊😊😊.
instead of locking them up in their cell......let them take up a sport and stop being thugs, mafias, and drug dealers while in prison
That is such a naive comment .. some would like to get out of the vicious cycle they are in but it’s not as easy as that with prison life
Spoken like somebody who has zero outside exposure
im the netherlands we focus on rehabilitation with usually shot maximum sentences. I think its good although it can he very frustrating when a criminal does a horrendous thing and gets a 15 year sentence
Are you two??
😂😂😂
This is Japan The strictness is not the problem w this system but that many are incarcerated wrongly with Japan's forced "confession" policy Also constant solitary confinement is blatantly inhumane for any crime
this is singapore bro not japan😂
this is SINGAPORE
This video has been uploaded twice and it’s a very old video. please try to upload new contents .
…..!
Singapura jail ok lg..dr malaysia jail lg teruk.. Singaapura jail. Sorang 1 jail..
Prison?
Look like a play-school with mindfulnes tv and newspaper and no hard work..
NO payback to the society.. 👎
So I saved all three of them. Thank god then it was my time and I MADE IT BACK!!!!!!!!! Yes my African father knows I was genuine!!!!!!!
Watch her hulk his Muslim wife now HA ha🧔♀️ she in the tub go check on her 🤧👩🏽🦯😊
ALLLLL the info but nothing about what country what people what culture lol NOTHING
criminals must have the harshest sentences. this jail is over too good.
Can't watch this. Live better than us in America. Ty. Biden needs to go. I'm sad.
You failed at life. It’s not the governments fault. Stop blaming others for your choices in life.
Should've had subtitles. Barely understand anything.
Idiot,..they are talking ENGLISH
