Jacob’s rise to fame is due to his inherent authenticity. What you see is who he is, nothing more, nothing less. No drama, no faking things for internet clout. He’s as real as they get, and it’s refreshing in this day and age.
Jacob has an international following. People worldwide watch him bringing in the lobsters and he makes it interesting. Last time we saw his little boy on the boat as well. He's proving that the people in Maine are the hardest workers and they are guaranteeing the future of fishing with their sustainable policies.
The lobster industry in Maine is one of the best managed fisheries in the country, but it is under threat from the Gulf of Maine overheating. This area of the NW Atlantic is heating up faster than any other area along the East Coast.
Jacob Knowles is a treasure - and what makes him a treasure is that he doesn't know it, show it, flaunt it or be it. He is REAL. It's not his lobster fishing that makes him awesome, it's that HE makes lobster fishing awesome. He could do just about anything and I'd watch. Keep it up, Jacob. You positively rock. 🎉
He has a huge following because he’s so genuine and he is the “real deal “ (comes from a line of fisherman). His knowledge and enthusiasm come through in every video. I’ve never been fishing, grew up in a big city but regularly watch his videos. I enjoy learning about his (and his companions) hard work to bring this delicious food to our table.
Been watching Jacob for long time. As a commercial fisherman out of NJ, my prospective on his efforts is he Rocks. Class act, great waterman, super family man, proud that we share an industry. Keep up the great work Jacob.👍😎
Good story! Jacob’s success on social media is not because of lobstering or an untapped market. (Sorry, Jacob!). I watch him everyday. Jacob could be a garbage collector or cleaning sewers. I would watch him because of him. He is such a decent, nice and upbeat person. I feel better after seeing him and his crew. I am housebound with no family; they are my family! Thank you Jacob! 😊
Many of my friends are Lobstermen and women, off an island in mid coast Maine, what I like about Jacob is he doesn’t seem to have intent to throw his spent oil, his coffee cups, his ropes, his traps flaps, his broken trap pieces, doesn’t sweep the bands from the boat into the ocean unlike 90% or more, sadly, of my friends who think it just disappears or that it doesn’t affect anything. Most of the trash on our beaches is fishing related. Instead, Jacob takes off barnacles on Lobsters joints and happily puts back eggy females without grumbling about the politics and restrictions “ruining his livelihood”. Best wishes to Jacob, making it cool, forethoughtful and fun to be fishing.
Jacob and his crew are so fun, and the curiosity of how the process works, the lives they handle and what they do to sustain them, his humor and how even with the sponsors and branding stuff and the fun stuff he does he’s still just a guy doing his job and having fun and it’s entertaining AND educational. And he can make anything interesting, especially showing us the other critters in the traps and working with the oceanarium for the special animals.
Jacob is authentic, has a companionable presence, teaches the how's and why's of what he does and about the sea life in general, and makes it both interesting and entertaining. You WANT to learn more.
I started following Jacob a few weeks ago, when they randomly started showing up on my UA-cam page... Never really thought about lobsters or where they come from or how... but, Jacob makes it so fun and interesting... it's hard not to watch!! Love the video's!!!
Jacob is one of my favorite channels. Having been to Maine several times, I knew about lobsters. However, I have learned so much more about them and other sea animals in the northeast. His videos are funny and educational. Happy for his success.
Watching with the Grandkids has been fun & informative. Seeing Jacob following up on the Lobstah's tagged for research is exciting. He's a hardworker great Dad and the kinda guy you want have a beer with!
Yes, we do! We love Jacob, his crew, and his beautiful family!! I've eaten lobster since I was a kid but started learning SO MUCH about them since I started watching Jacob's videos! It's great that you had him on your show!! ❤ 🦞
One of the good things about his videos going worldwide is it shows how to create a successful sustainable fishery without bringing politics into it. There are certain countries that could learn from how Maine preserves the lobster population. There are some countries that simply deplete the fishing stock and then move on to other waters.
Seeing his first video a year ago I was hooked, I love him and how he shares his life as a lobster man in Maine, I would love to meet him and shake his hand! Thank you for the story
Jacobs's videos are informative and entertaining, and he comes across as a very authentic, hard-working man. I'm glad that he keeps his language clean because I think kids would enjoy and learn from his content.
Jacob is my favorite guy! Has tons of fun and teaches us a lot about the fishery. Crews great, Family has been in the business for generations. Unique channel!❤
Lobster harvesters work long hard hours. They make our lives better in a lot of ways. Me and my recently widowed mother took a ride to our lobster town of Cutler Maine. We brought home some lobsters, we had our supper without stepdad and thought about old times. So it's not just about hauling up lobsters, it's about family, sitting around the table!
Jacob gives "Spa days with a free lunch" to Maine lobsters. I love Jacob I have been watching his videos for a few years now. Spa day is when Jacob removes barnacles off of a 🦞. A facial for lobsters.
I just had my first maine lobster last month and im obsessed with them now. I do to follow Jacob. Awesome content and definitely informative about lobsters and how he and his team love and live for lobsters
I started watching him because my beloved is a Michelin star trained chef who had a restaurant for 20 years up in Cape Cod taught me about how to really eat a lobster. Plus, he’s so authentic and genuine, which is very rare to all the narcissist on the Internet.
That was my thing every either New Year's Eve or day, throw some lobster tails and rib eyes on the grill! I have pictures of me doing this with three pound tails when it was 5 degrees above zero!! Good times back then!
Cool! Jacob is a wonderful example of how important the passing down is of generational skill. Each generation learns, adapts, and then teaches the next. Whether the shoemaker or the fisherman, the tailor or the farmer, the passing on of skill within a family is one of the most important parts of an education. There's no college farming or fishing degree that could usurp the experience of growing up fully immersed in your family's industry.
Yep! I have watched a bunch of this guy's videos on YT, and can't wait to see what he will pull out of the water next! And have learned a bunch about lobstering! Life is a journey, never stop learning!
_Ayuh, we got lobstahs. And while the coastline is 2nd to none, still unspoiled and fascinating - inland Maine is like stepping back in time. Truly mystical. I ❤ my home, Maine._
With his outgoing personality, Jacob could make a living riding on the back end of a garbage truck and people would follow him. I've been watching his YT channel for several years and it is educational, informative, and enjoyable to watch.
1:06 when he’s throwing females back with eggs he throws them gently and on their back so they eggs won’t be damaged. He’s said he doesn’t know if it would damage them, so he does it on the theory that it might and those eggs are his livelihood, he’s great
I love Jacob’s videos I don’t miss a video I have learned so much with his videos and they’re entertaining… I loved the video with his son, that’ll 6 generations of lobster fishermen ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I've been watching him for a while now! And I am from New England and my father is or was a main lobsterman! I think 5th generation. So it's really great to have the world see how it all works
Jacob’s rise to fame is due to his inherent authenticity. What you see is who he is, nothing more, nothing less. No drama, no faking things for internet clout. He’s as real as they get, and it’s refreshing in this day and age.
He seems like a genuine hardworking, family oriented nice guy.
@@lhawkes5that’s the exact reason why I follow him.
totally agree, I just love watching his videos
Absolutely! The key to his success is him. The guy, exudes, goodness and humanity.
I like his personality
He's right us followers won't let him live it down if the lobster goes back without a snackie.
Score! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
We all also mourn when the lobsters drop the fish when they hit the water.

Jacob is amazing. He's such a genuine person. I never knew I'd have an interest in lobster, but he makes it so interesting.
