i think that is a purposefully written flaw of Iroha's... she doesn't really try to understand others and just says empty words. that's one of the reasons why things with Kuroe go how they do. Iroha is kind hearted but extremely focused on her own goals, blind to the true suffering of others and ultimately unable to help them.
Yachiyo's group has dealt with death of members and they all dealt with it in different ways. Tsuruno's positivity may seem the healthiest way of dealing with it but it turns out it's the opposite, she's been planning on bottling up her emotions for as long as possible.
