Bisping, this was a pure gold vid. What a great summary of the division, and it brought back memories of fights and fighters we have not thought about for years. Thank you my friend.
@@bisping Yes more of these please! Would be really cool to see you and Anthony go over these together and talk about the fighters. Your the man Bisping!
Great video and it was nice to see some old fighters we don't think about often. Thanks much respect to you Michael Bisping. It's a shout out to from Nova Scotia, Canada. Take care.
Awesome video. I would only suggest making it more clear who you're speaking about. There were several times in this video where you said something like "He beat him by ___" and I wasn't sure who you were saying won the fight.
The ufc back then had fewer fighters, most of them got their title shot after 3, 4 fights, if Islam fought back then he would be on 9, 10 defending streak. Fighters now are more skilled and talented than ever.
At his apex, the answer is BJ. The version of BJ from '07-'09 was the most versatile, skilled, and vicious lightweight in UFC history. This is not a knock against Frankie, but by spring of '10, BJ had taken his foot off the gas from a training standpoint. He had lost his motivation, and then struggled to recapture his momentum. That, plus rematching GSP while still at LW, is why he fell off. But a prime, locked-in BJ? Not Khabib, Islam, or Benderson would be able to handle him.
"when you go through the UFC lightweight division start to bottom" Reminds me of that Russian character in 2001 Space Odyssey, when he says "easy as cake" and "piece of pie." Bisping was at Gas Digital too long.
Man i really feel for Felder man not ranked high enough?? Maybe he wasent but skill wise back then.. easily a good fight and i can see paul winning on the ground
Maybe it's my nostalgia glasses but a prime BJ PENN beats Khabib. Anyone remember the insanity of BJ Penn's takedown defense like that dude is amazing and then his boxing was so crisp I believe Freddy roach said he had the best boxing in MMA at the time.
Islam might not have looked optically as dominate as khabib but he has only lost 2 or 3 rounds in all his 14 fight winning streak. Officially though, in fights where it went to decision he only lost ONE round vs Volk and that’s it. That’s really impressive but we have unfair comparison between khabib and Islam .. Islam is that good and when he retires people will break down each fight even more and would be in awe of his performances.
For me, Khabib is still the best. Never been beaten, never even been bruised/cut in the UFC. (The following are just my opinions. Don't come at me lol) Islam may acquire more title defenses, but Khabib's performances were better. Also, Khabib beat Dustin and Justin when they were in the prime of their careers. Both were interim champs on win streaks (Dustin beat Max when Max was on a tear. Justin beat Tony when Tony was on a tear). Khabib also beat Connor, the biggest MMA star ever. Granted, Connor was coming off of a long layoff, but his last fight before that was Eddie Alvarez, so Connor fought Khabib some momentum behind him. Two of Islam's title defenses were against a featherweight, and one of them he was very close to losing (or should've lost). In the rematch, Volk took the fight on super short notice. Also, Dustin Poirer pushed Islam to the limit when (IMO) Dustin was past his prime and wasn't on a long win streak.
Good points we will find out Saturday UFC 311 if Islam dominates Arman that will be huge! A little concerning that he had trouble with Poirier, but compare Arman's fight with Olivera versus Islam. Islam smoked his ass and Arman barely won split decision vs Charles.

Thanks for the kind words buddy! Glad you enjoyed it.
Excuse me sir but could you get off his nuts for just a moment

@@bisping oh how clitheroe cyclops champion has matured since he was a young'en 🙌
Frankie Edgar is Islam Makhachev's favorite fighter.
I Love that. Frankie deserves more Love. He almost never gets mentioned anymore
Thank you best take on here he's my goat especially considered he was always undersize his whole career could of fought at flyweight
Do these for all the divisions
Thissss , amazing video
Great Summary! I hope Bisping does the same thing for all the other weight classes.
Love these videos ❤
Cheers mate
Do this for all weight classes!
Great video and it was nice to see some old fighters we don't think about often. Thanks much respect to you Michael Bisping. It's a shout out to from Nova Scotia, Canada. Take care.
Great edits! That peekaboo shot with Khabib was dope AF
Great video.
As always very good report
This video was fantastic! I'd love to see you do these for all the divisions before other title fights
These are cool Mike! more please
Good thinking bisping, great video
Post more of these Mike!
Great video Bisping, absolutely loved it. Please do more videos like whenever there's an upcoming title fight.
This was a great idea for a video.
This was a gem of a video...
From a weight devision that wasn't even noticed to one of if not the most skilled weight devision is insane 🔥🔥
loved it❤🔥
Legendary Video
What a great historical perspective. How about one on the middleweight division, you know a bit about that! Many thanks Mike from New Zealand. 🤜🤛
Frankie also defended the belt 3 times
Good video. More of these please
Sweet video, will we get other division breakdowns?
Great video idea, can you do if for each weight class, maybe not heavy or flyweight tho
Lightweight feels like a log jam all the top 10 have had at least 3 losses there’s no one other than Islam that stands out
Awesome video. I would only suggest making it more clear who you're speaking about. There were several times in this video where you said something like "He beat him by ___" and I wasn't sure who you were saying won the fight.
We also have to consider the level of competition. Islam is the Best as of now with Khabib at #2. Charles at #3.
Awesome video. Learned a lot
Cool video Mike thanks 🎉
Amazing video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Shut up champ@@bisping
Please, do the rest of the UFC

This was a cool lead up to the PPV - please keep doing this through 2025! Thanks for all your content Bisping!
Legendary video Bisping. 👍🏽
Awesome summary of the history of the lLW divsion!!
Yes! I need these I’m new

BJ Penn isn't known for his crazy work ethic I feel like Khabib or Islam would just take him down and smesh him lol.
TQ for sharing History of Lightweight brotha..😅😊
Thanks brother, beautiful summary!! I'm sure you meant to say arm-triangle for Islam's submission against Oliveira, not rear naked 😊.
I'm sure your a real fun hang in real life..😬
khabib's father passed away two months prior to his fight with Gaethje just saying he wasn't in the crowd not physically maybe in spirit
3:05 did he just say 'Hawaii man?' 😂
No mate. It’s a Geordie thing, it a saying in Newcastle.
bratha bisping from Bangladesh
Triple B 🤣
"when you go through the UFC lightweight division start to bottom"

Thanks uncle Chael! I mean uncle Bisping for this wonderful history lesson

All hail The count manchester royalty to fight and win a ufc title with a severe eye injury like that is nothing short of amazing.
1993...present....UFC has set the mark for combative sports...
What are you talking about there’s been combat sports long before ufc
@@Jim_is_Burningthat’s not what set the mark means

Thank you for the history lesson uncle Bisping 🙏
lightweight div is absolute fire from the very start
Frankie also has 3 defenses. The draw vs Maynard counts. Don’t disrespect the legend
THOSE 4 DURING THERE TIME DOMINATED SO SAY NO MORE .
That’s not how Islam beat Charles bro. Who wrote that part???
It was an arm triangle Islam stopped Charles with, not a rear naked choke
Whats with the weird click noises in the background?
CTE starts at 0:00

Which ones were on steriods mike?
Khabib most likely wouldn’t have lost for years so we’ll never know how far he would have gone.
My top 5
Islam
Charles
Khabib
Henderson
BJ Penn
10:21 nice dig!
Islam is already the best
Arman by flying knee 😢😢
If islam wins arman there is no debate. Islam is the goat at LW
Paul beats khabib via spinning elbow in the first round
For me, Khabib is still the best. Never been beaten, never even been bruised/cut in the UFC.

Islam is Khabib with way better striking
Kenny looks like a baby!!
Pozdrawiam booooooom
McGregor is the best loser in lightweight history. What a streak. He beat Nurmagomedov's record
Wow. I never realized just how much if a shit show that division has consistently been 😂
Bisping, Islam Makhachev is going to defend his belt undisputably by a knock out at once by Allah's leave.
Tony Ferguson beats sll of these guys,. specially the guy with the white afro.
Yes, these are easy match ups for him. He can even beat Jones and Francis.
Islam will defeat Arman. He will be UFC welterweight or middleweight champion
Close fight
Unified the belt most of the time 🤣🤣🤣
Great video. Good luck with your stem cell therapy too.
Arman will be the next Champion
This shows just how crap Khabab's UFC career was. Utter joke. He's only idolised as he's a religion of "peace" follower.
Please dont ever reffer to someone as a daddy
Great video
