As a Harry styles fan, I kinda wish he wasn’t as popular as he is? I’m so glad he’s gotten so much recognition etc, but the newer fans make me almost embarrassed to be a Harry styles fan. Nobody can go to concerts anymore bc girls are going just to say they did or to show it off on social media. He’s just a show off artist now! He’s almost gotten too popular if that makes sense. Now if you say your a fan your either faking or get insulted of being “mainstream”. I know he was never a “small under ground little indie artist 🥺” but he wasn’t always this way, it’s hard to find someone who actually genuinely appreciates and understands his music now, everyone just likes it because it’s popular to like him now, it’s like a new aesthetic. I still love him and his music, but being a fan isn’t as fun as it was last year before Harry’s house was released. There’s no issues with him he’s unproblematic which is good, but now it’s the “fans” making everything problematic.
THIS. same feeling. Fandom was much safer in 2020-2022 just before 3rd album dropped. I knew he is famous and always has been but the success of the third album is almost too huge to wrap my head around.

One thing I wanna say, people act like harry was the first male celebrity to wear feminine clothes, now I understand why younger people might think that but it’s just not true. Many men made those fashion statements before, some even more bold than what Harry wore. Overall no hate to him I think his music is great and his style is nice.

The thing I personally like about him is that he breaks so many traditional roles not only with fashion but with music I feel at a certain point he was at he broke new grounds and opened up new opportunities for artist! ^^

his personality, how he interacts with the fans and how kind he is. he is also very charismatic and shines on stage. amazing singer and in my opinion a very good artist and songwriter. his songs are comforting and can make you cry and laugh of course it's not for everybody but it's still for a lot of people. he's such a performer and has a special connection with his fans. he's also just a very kind person. so yeah there's some reasons why i like him

as a harry fan, i totally get where you are coming from. yes, i may like harry styles, but also i do agree that some of his music is overrated. i definitely think him as a person isn’t but his music definitely is. i also agree with what you said abt the grammys. the grammys are not a popularity contest. they just choose random artists that some people havent even heard of and award them. there are a handful of artists that i know that have never gotten any sort of grammy or prestigious award, and to me, i dont care. because music is music and you like who you like, and i respect that. so no matter what your opinion is, i will continue to support you because everyone has a right to their own opinion and we should respect that :)

I completely understand how you can have your own opinions but I just wanted to say this. In this link, especially at 2:09 I want you to pay attention to the background instruments and how nicely they blend together and how long it would’ve taken to create such a difficult instrumental wise song. not only this, you would also have to have his vocals and backing vocals so this video isn’t even all of the song. so you can share your opinion about how you believe that watermelon sugar is overrated but I believe that a song that took over a year to make by a critically acclaimed artist definitely would get overlooked as the artist is popular. But when you really look at it it is ver throughout and I give cheers to Harry.

I think some of his music is overrated, but he as a person is not. His music and him just being himself helped me through a really difficult time in my life, but I understand the take on this. Personally, I love him, but I respect your opinion on that. I think that the way the media paints him is...just wrong? Like, they only play his mainstream songs, rather then some of the really fantastic ones like From the Dining Table, or Cherry, or Matilda, or Canyon Moon. I think that yes, his music is overrated in a way, the mainstream songs drive me nuts sometimes, but he himself is such a charismatic person, and I honestly kind of owe a lot of my mental health to his music. Without his music and other artists, I don't know if I'd still be here.
personally i love love love harry styles and i thought Harry’s house was a great album. i didn’t like it at first but once i listened to all the songs and actually listened i loved it. I don’t think his album had a certain message like others but i still thought some of the songs had beautiful lyrics.
I’m a huge harry fan, but honestly he can be bit overrated, and does some questionable stuff. I’m not one to argue on people when they say he’s overrated, because well…he is. As someone said in the comment section, being overrated does NOT mean his music is awful. I’m in for everything he does, like I said, he does wear(any harry fan can agree some outfits are NOT it)…..and do something questionable things, but really people are allowed to have their own opinion. I think being upfront and rude about it DIRECTLY towards someone you know loves him(not ben, I mean in context of someone saying that to a fan). All in all, he’s a good man, but being a good man does not mean he can’t be an overrated person.
I get what you're talking about Harry's House but like if you listen to the whole album it resonates with a lot of people and I guess part of the reason why he won Album of the Year but of course Opinions are Opinions. I just am happy that the album won and not just the song tbh.

Harry Styles in one of the most successful artists of this generation for a reason. he is an artist he makes proper, original, creative, unique, special songs. Every single song on this album is different; this means that there is a song for everyone on this album. He may be overrated for some people and I respect your opinion but this person deserved his grammy. he worked so hard and he is finally being appreciated. as a harrie i think the fact that people don't like harry's house proves harry right because he's said Harry's house is an album that he made for himself. he made music that he wants to make and not what the mainstream likes to hear. it really doesn't matter if you don't like it because harry made it HIS album. he made his favourite album and an album that he likes to listen to regardless of what anyone else thinks and for that i'm so proud of him and so happy for him. you can see when he performes it on tour how much he loves the album so if you don't like the album in this case that really doesn't matter cuz harry loves it and it's his album. he still won a grammy with it tho sooo

Honestly any big band or artist with even a few thousand listeners is probably overrated, fans just need to be able to admit it. It took me a long time to sorta get my head out of my ass and realize that some of the songs bands/artists I really like made weren't good, and I think that's what Harry's fans need to do. I've never really been interested in Harry styles and his music to be honest, but I have to say he seems like a really solid guy in any interviews I've come across so although I'm not a fan of his music I'm not really bothered by his Win I'd say I'm happy for him. I generally wasn't a fan of this years releases and I haven't really bothered to keep up with Any new albums so this might be why I am pretty neutral. I do agree with everything said in the video though, feels like Ben was articulating my own thoughts, thanks for another interesting video :)

as a newer harry fan, who knew he was in 1D and having parents play them in the car as a kid but not really knowing or a being a "fan" of the band, i do totally agree that newer fans are a bit fake, girls will just go for the photos and to say they went to a concert and are his biggest fans lol... my personal favorite album of harrys is Harry Styles, then Harrys House, then fine line. I do think that I would put Harrys House as first but i just love SOTT and FTDT, they really speak to me and help me through things, i would put HH as n1 for me personally just because i love all the songs on the albums just like HS but also since i am a newer fan people would see be as... fake yk what i mean? and i love the fact he made and wrote and everything HH for himself, which a lot of people dont know and i think again, that people didnt think the album was that great or shouldve won album of the year, etc, because he wrote it for himself, he said in an interview with zane lowe and apple music (on yt & apple music) that he finished it and listened to the whole album back and there was NOTHING he wanted to change. a good example is in the book daisy jones and the 6 daisy wanted to make her own music and album but her manager knew people wouldnt like it and told her to write for others first, then herself and it took her months to accpet that and people LOVED it (the album she didnt write for herself). and i feel that harry wrote something for himself and some people hence, didnt think he sould have won what he won at the grammys. i think that SOME of his music might be overrated such as watermelon sugar, adore you, as it was, etc. (i love as it was.) and is mainstream but a good percentage of the people who say he is over rated truly havnt listened to all of his songs and read the lyrics to understand that he is magical and a very great artist and person. i dont think he is an over rated individual but i do think some of his music is. but in my opinion he deserved best pop vocal album for many reasons. yes he isnt he first person to explore other clothing usually worn by the opposite sex and bring awareness to topics but it is great he is doing so (in my opinion). i think he is an all around super funny, kind, hot, talented being and he 100% deserves the support and everything he has EARNED.

7:16 i would like to differ here. I totally agree with the rest. Lately Grammys have become about awarding popularity. I mean there are so many sonically amazing, musically exemplary and technically refined bodies of work that aren't even nominated. Grammys just acknowledge the big commercially successful music so that they can get maximum viewers which in the end increases the amount of money that they make. Grammys is not a non profit organizations like the noble prizes or the booker prizes. I think they just want to make money in the end. I might be wrong tho. dont know much about their history. However, they do recognize just the most popular acts.

As a directioner I do agree harry is a little bit overrated. Dont come after me I love the boys so much but harrys house didn't deserve it. Im sorry I think the album was great but to be able to win a grammy it should atleast be meaning full. Half the time he was singing about wine. The only meaning full song was matilda, little freak, and love of my life. I mean matilda is a beautiful song that is very important to alot of people cause they can relate. And most directioners understand why little freak and LOML are so important. Its about the man he loved and wasn't able to be with. But most of the songs weren't that well written. and as a directioner i get mad because of the solo harries. The solo harries make him overrated and then make the fandom look horrible and toxic. I mean they are rude people and they come after the other 1d members. Many solo harries have told the other members to kill themselves. I mean louis wrote walls and never got any award for that. I mean the songs were gorgeous, about being part of lgbtqia+ community, or not being able to give someone up, or a song for his mom who passed away. And all the other boys have meaningful songs but they never get any credit. Many of the members have talked openly about how they felt like they meant nothing and it was always about harry. I love harry so please dont come after me, im being honest and stating my opinion. Its not harrys fault and im so happy hes gotten as far as he has but there are way more meaningful things then drinking wine, sex, and drugs.

I will certainly be insulted by his fans but I don't find him authentic at all. Everything rings false with him, it looks like he cosplays artists who long before him dressed this way, it was a style already well recognized, the glam rock. And I yeah he's talented but people overreact by crowning him icon/precursor etc because he's not at all personally I find his music very generic and commercial. A super commercial artist who advocates fake originality with good music but not as good as the fans and the media claim. For me this guy is just a product marketing, an aesthetic.
