he romantic drama “Romeo and Jeannette” by the great French playwright Jean Anouilh reminds the audience of the meaning of romance and the sacrifice that a great love entails. The actors’ performances spotlight the poetic language of the text, its romance mixed with realism.
Anna Fonsou directs and the Greek translation is by Alexis Solomos, who loved this play and to whose memory this production is dedicated.
This is the first time that the National Theatre of Northern Greece stages a play by the great French dramatist. It is a work of extraordinary mastery, which wields sarcasm to tackle its characters’ despair and desperation.
