    Again giving thanks; respect. Slowly going through your vids and one thing that stands out is the sound of your Wind chimes. So many people use music for the back ground and it is distracting. Learning alot from you and now trying my hand at fermenting anything i can get my hands on. Thanks for your energy.

      The crock will sit of for 6 months or a year. Simply scrap the fuzz off the top when decanting. There should be liquid underneath.

    could you use a coconut sugar? in place of a brown sugar

    • @nigelpalmer3439
      @nigelpalmer3439  2 роки тому

      I have not tried coconut sugar and don't know much about it. The moisture content of the sugar makes a difference.

    Can one use blackstrap molasses and white sugar combination?

      I have not tried this. Moisture content of the sugar is something to consider.

    Is it same as fish hydroslate or its diffrent?
    Can we use it for making fungul compost tea ??

    • @nigelpalmer3439
      @nigelpalmer3439  4 місяці тому +1

      They could be. This process is a true fermentation using materials that came right from the ocean. The process or ingredients of fish hydroslate may be similar or not. Ask the manufacturer. Apply diluted as a foliar spray of drench. No need to make a tea.

    Please can you tell me, were the fish gutted before you started, or do the stomach contents add to the fermentation?

      You could make a fermented plant juice from skunk cabbage. I have not completed an analysis of what is in it, but you could do this as well. there is a form to submit an amendment analysis on my web site. Let me know if interested.

    I started 2 batches of this fermented fish with brown sugar in mid April of this year. I kept them closed. Now about 2 months later, I see white mold on top of these mixtures. Is this normal, or should I start all over?

    • @nigelpalmer3439
      @nigelpalmer3439  6 місяців тому

      How closed. Use a cloth so it can breath. Tough to tell with so little information, but generally I would not worry about a mold on a fermentation. When you are ready to decant simply remove the mold on top.

      @@nigelpalmer3439 Thank you , Nigel, it is sealed completely, as was done by another youtuber ( to avoid the fishy smell). I will put a cloth on top instead.

    What about adding bokashi to the top ?

    • @nigelpalmer3439
      @nigelpalmer3439  2 роки тому

      I have not tried this having never purchased biology as it is ubiquitous in my back yard. Suggest making your own IMO4 if you have the time and resources.

    • @VerticalVeg
      @VerticalVeg 2 роки тому +1

      Hi Kelly, I added bokashi and the fish ferment produced no bad smells at all. I can't be sure that the bokashi was the reason it worked - only that the ferment was successful and did not smell bad at any stage.

  • @bigbabyjesussurfing

    What is IMO4???

    • @nigelpalmer3439
      @nigelpalmer3439  2 роки тому +1

      IMO - indigenous micro organisms. IMO4 is the end product of capturing local biology and using this to digest soil and minerals making a mineral and biological amendment.

    I get bucket full of fish waste from my Chinese fish monger. I dig a rectangle hole and put in the bucket of fish waste. I mix it with woodchips, and then put a layer of just woodchips, and voila no smell, and in ten days all the fish is consumed, not a single fish head.
