Michael Jordan was awesome. However you NEVER saw any highlights of him being stripped or blocked. Because there’s plenty of Cooper, DJ, and Dumars doing it!
@@hakeemolajuwonBESTROCKET I've posted about 1500 NBA articles and Im watching basketball for about 36 years, you smart-ass. Salley waa a better overall player.
That first move after he stole the ball.. u can def see the skill gap from back in the 90s til today. He went w the right the whole way even going towards the left he still used the right. Then he picked up his dribble like a step too early so he had to lay it up from the free throw. A player nowadays would have probably did a in and out to the right then crossed to the left and drove the whole way and finished w the left. Or I can see a player taking 1 more dribble than salley did and do the dwade euro right thru the middle of the 2 defenders and scored. A big body like Zion might have went w the hop step or the spin. Regardless of what move they would have done. The main thing here is the extra dribble salley should have taken. Any player nowadays that’s skilled, would have known to take that extra dribble and not pick the ball up from behind the 3pt line. Also as I watch more 90s ball I notice a lot of players used to make these kind of mistakes, dribbling mainly w the right and not being able to switch to the left even while being forced left.
While I think your broader point stands (that the beautiful game continues to evolve over time), I'm not sure if John Salley is the best guy to hold up as an example. His game generally involved never leaving the paint (crashing the glass, dunking lobs, running in a straight line) so this play is a classic example of a dude clearly trying to play outside himself. It'd be similar to watching JaVale McGee take off and try to dunk on James Jones from the free throw line in today's game (ua-cam.com/video/ciL7GiaXnI8/v-deo.html&ab_channel=TheExpansible). That said, your broader point stands, in that a lot of larger sized players have much more freedom to develop what was formerly considered guard skills. There was a much higher chance of a seven-footer being defaulted to "get a rebound and give it to a guard" in previous eras. Now, more bigs are given the green light to handle their business in the open floor if they have the skills (Giannis is the most elite example that comes to mind). It's a development I think guys like David Robinson would have benefitted from had they played in today's game. As it was, plays like this were the exception for David instead of the rule: ua-cam.com/video/CKVqpXl3M18/v-deo.html&ab_channel=VideoLonghorn

Back when basketball was a man's game. :)
*SHAQTiN’aSALLEY!*
steals the ball from Jordan then proceeds to take off damn near 2ft. behind the FT line with the IceMan fingerRoll😂🤣😂🤣
Headlock = NO FLAGRANT
No no....he was helping him stand up.....so he wouldn't hit the floor
Got it.
Flagrant fouls weren’t a thing till 90-91
He was an awesome shot blocker
My man tried to shoot a lay up from the free throw line 😂😂😂
Pause it at 1:11 .. .
Crazy that Salley and Rodman are on the pistons during this period, knowing they’ll be with the Bulls along w Jordan Later on in their career.
my year. i was born 4 days old Saturday May 27, 1989
man the post one "owned the bulls back then.
Missed the layup so
0:07 Salley handles the ball like a point guard!! Good player, better than Rodman in my opinion!
imagine thinking handles is what makes a player better, whats next? kyrie is the GOAT clown
Fuck no are u dumb
Yes and then he misses a layup
@@Illyrian_Warrior These things happen to a game sometimes.
