Today, I camp behind an abandoned gas station in a nearly vacant ghost town, eat a MRE for dinner and provide a brief history lesson on the town of Orogrande, New Mexico.

Stealth camping is more practical than wilderness camping because it puts you in practice in how to survive homelessness. Anyone can wind up homeless.
I knew a girl who's house exploded with her in it! It was nothing but knee high burnt rubble, miraculously she survived thank God
James the stealth camping videos are absolutely my favorite. Keep em coming brother 💯
James, your stealth camping videos are my favorite thing to watch on your channel, been waiting for a new one since the ghost town video, I realize how long it takes to film them and the time it takes to figure out logistics and stuff so i just want to say I’d love to see more and keep up the amazing work man!
I"am a Military Veteran, ( U.S.M.C.) and there is no right way or wrong way to handle MREs. Those Cheese short bread and your crumbled coffee cake, best eaten with a coffee. Well at least to this former Grunt. I like your videos.
I concur . Marine corps 88-92
US Army, 1982 - 2003. MRE’s suck. At least the menus we had. Give me C-Rations or K-Rations instead.
USN here, 76-80 c & k rations suck too. I tried the first MREs they weren't too bad , the ones today suck ... Too many preservatives.
@ you Navy guys ate MRE’s on ship? I always thought you guys ate good at sea.
@@scout06171 they have pac ex where they eat canned food. Maybe MREs were served ?
Glad to see you stealthing again! I love stealth videos cause I'm too chicken to do it myself. Looks like your hand is better too.
Simple and to the point. Great video, James. Practice is always a lot of fun. Looking forward to future stealth videos. 🧐👍🏻
love the videos man stay safe out there
Yes sir I think all your content is awesome and done so well in each of its different situations I take something from each one! It’s great to see you out there doing a stealth camp and bringing us top quality survival content. Your hand looks great and I’m so glad you are using both cause watching your one hand survival videos had to be not only stressful but just down right inconvenient to deal with! But being that said I know it’s important to deal with it in a survival situation cause you never know when you could lose the use of a hand or a foot and you have to overcome that to survive! Thanks again James great video as always take care and God bless.
Cool video, James!
I love deserted desert buildings. The sounds of the bats is so cool. These were my favorite spots to squat ( Ileft no trace tho)but I don't like being alone anymore. I have gone soft indoors. 💚
Hey James! Hanging out on the back porch of a ghosted gas station in Orogrande, now that's what I call stealth. Even if someone found you there, they'd probably just blow it off and consider you a transient. MRE's...some are good, some not so much. In the desert with no jacket at night, brave soul you are. Thanks for the work and video, always fun to tag along. See ya next time..
Good stuff! Thank you James and Cuervo!
Excellent! These are the kind of videos that got me into this channel. All the vids are great but there's definitely a special vibe to the stealth camping vids that I love. Hope you're doing well brother! Glad to see you back at it
Ok, I hate to admit it but this was my favorite episode... I watched it all the way through and enjoyed every minute of it. Makes me want to go find an abandoned gas station in the middle of nowhere.
Traveled thru that town many times going to el paso from ruidoso never knew the backstory, your videos are always entertaining and music is always on point👍that stealth camping will make you appreciate your bed😂
You're the Man James!
Loving the Hidden Woodmsen Rucksack
Raises a lot of questions because those are too damned expensive for a homeless person
I use hot hands in my socks when camping in the cold. Even if I don't have the warmest sleeping bag or blankets, having warm feet helps me sleep better.
Hey James, been following you since the old days of the PM101 Gauntlet. Very pleased with your content as always, and I'm impressed with how you have developed your skills, both your outdoor skills, and your cinematography. I see that the injury to your hand has neither dampened your skills nor your spirit, and you were handling that gallon of water with your left hand like a big dog!
It is a learning curve 👍🏼
These stealth camping outings are pretty legit. There is always something to learn if you pay attention. And yeah, the cold will always kick your @$$. But so will the hot sun. It pays to be prepared. Nicely done, bro.
It's good to see you. I so much love kind of this type video. Abounded place or gas station. Thank you sir❤❤❤
hey James loved the Stealth! You have really got a beautiful area aroud ya in them there parts. Love the way you filmed all of the ghost town relics into your shots great camera work buddy!Hoping to get down your way this year.
Very good video. I am ex hitchhiker aint camped since last year when me abd some my homies lived in the woods bebind a gasstation. Good video.
Awesome Vid
Mt man here watching 👍👍 l like to camp there cook burgers set n talk about the good old times
Great video! Always good to change stuff up and get out of your comfort zone!
I like the stealth camping videos James. Nice job. Thanks for sharing.
I know where that place is. Great video.
Que bien verte de nuevo amigo.
Great video-made my day to see a new one! Thanks for making these and bringing us along! I think something is learned each time you go out, so no spectacle. The history, scenery, and Cuervo’s music combine to make a scene worth living. Can’t wait to get out soon!
I like your stealth videos
Yes!!!!’ This was an epic show. Great great stealth camp brotha !!!! So glad to see you out . I was going to say it’s still cold old , pero tu sabes.
Good video. I wud be so scared, if someone came upon me while sleeping. 😱
I was just up there last week at the other gas station. Cool to see you did a video out there. :)
Those MREs are made using gourmet chef engineering. They make sure everything taste good and provide all the proper nutrition. Nobody should turn their nose on them.
This is a damned lie. 🤣😂🤣
@@scout06171 LOL
@@scout06171 You look too old to have eaten a modern day MRE. You look like Sea Ration era dude. LOL Just kidding. Seriously, I have not eaten a bad tasting modern day MRE yet. They are pretty good.
@ alrighty then. Thanks for the “compliment”. Yes, I’m old. My last MRE was eaten in 2002.
@ You definitely need to try the new stuff.
I wear a Blue Jean Duster during the cool days between winter and spring helps with a vest under it to keep me warm enough from winter and cooler days before spring. I bet it would be lightweight enough to either have a mod attachment like paracord in a patter to attach a jacket on the side or top of the bag and stay around when you don't need it. In all this was a good video with information on where you're at which is always awesome to hear on. Abandoned areas are always fun to look around and check out but you always wonder what all happened before it became abandoned. FYI on finding a duster without having all out on price just go to Goodwill that's where I found mine during a summer several years ago. God bless ya James.
Another great video!
Thanks for bringing us along👍
This was a good one, keep’em coming.
Great video, James. I love any and all New Mexico content that you create!
Dystopian.
I like it.
Awesome video! Your stealth camping videos are very entertaining! Can't wait for the next one!
Enjoyed the new video brother! I believe you should keep stealth camping, definitely keeps you figuring out new things constantly
James, am I seeing you without a wrap on your injured hand 3:02 ? Way to go!
I live your stealth camping videos.
Awesome stealth camping video James! Totally dug it!
I love the stealth camp vids
I like the stealth camping videos because there's always the element of danger making for a little extra excitement. 👍
Always love the content
I was stationed at Fort Bliss in 96
Nice show and tell there funny how those MRE bread packets all turn out crumbled 😂 so it wasn’t just your that did that 👍👌✌️🫡🇺🇸
It's probably already been mentioned, if not here, then in past videos, but I highly recommend adding a GI poncho liner to your cold weather kit. It will add minimal weight, but make the nights a lot more bearable when combined with your wool blanket. Surplus liners are plentiful and inexpensive. Just don't get it close to an open flame!
Desert, woods or city all the vids are great! Enjoying the content. Let me know when CN needs cartage when he tours💯👊🏼
Look I love the wilderness camps .. but I have to say there is something really intriguing about the stealth camps. Maybe it feels more close to what the old hobos would of experienced while on the road. Well done .. loved the sounds of those bats haha
You should always layer your clothing, t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, a sweater with hood preferably and a water/wind proof jacket or poncho. 2-3 lbs max carry weight. A poncho can be very versatile in a survival situation.
Well done young man! Always putting out good an useful info!
Great job and spot on. Thank you for sharing.
Its very cool I always learn new stuff on all the camping trip stealth included thank you.
These are my favorite types of videos!
Hope your hand is healing alright. Iam sure it makes things more difficult. Great video keep them coming.
Living here in England, just outside London, South of the River Thames, stealth camping is all we can pretty much do. SHTF situation, it's good to practice (as you said) with different scenarios. In your case, the desert, here it would be small clumps of woodland locally. No gas station...we would have to find another way to procure water, especially difficult in the summertime. I actually thoroughly enjoyed this one, especially with today's current climate. I've been trying to source footage from the Vietnam era on how they were able to cook off grid, while at hhe same time not giving their positions away with smoke...to no avail. But practice practice practice is key on every point, in as many scenarios as possible for the areas you live. Hope you make more videos like this, knowledge is power...abd don't forget your bloody coat 😂 I wear my cowboy hats even here in England, don't care what anyone thinks, they're a hat with purpose. All the best buddy and a huge thumbs up from me 👍👍👍
That was a good one. MREs are good. The gum has stuff in it. To help your gut. Have a good day ❤
I really enjoyed this stealth camping video. The ravioli didn't look too bad. Cheers, James! 👍👍✌️
Thanks for sharing!
Love the stealth camping adventures, James! Glad to see you continuing to get more dexterity back in your hand. And was that the Snake Eater or Green River fixed blade? Couldn’t tell! 😁 BTW I love the Green River but not the carbon steel. Got caught in a rainstorm, leather sheath got wet, and I had a badly rusted blade. I didn’t expect less, but makes me wish a maker would do them in stainless too!
I use to eat so many MREs in the army. Lovee mixing the cheese spread and crackers with the entree. Also the milkshake powder and coffee make a great combo together.
Great video, keep rhem coming.
Grill Over the Stove good idea - I have to hold my cup while boiling - Great film m Thanks.
It actually made it to thirty degrees outside today. Gonna snow a few inches in a few days
We had the second least amount of moisture in January In recorded history. Gonna be a dry winter I guess. Hopefully it rains quite a bit this spring.
Sometimes the heater packet gets too old so you have to add a teaspoon of salt to activate the heater
Love watchin your videos man.
Great video...remember...just put your jacket over your back pack ..no worries....thanks for all your videos and what you show us...
Brother like my brother Marine said there is no right or wrong way to eat an MRE so good job for eating it. Also amazing video
I'm a homeless veteran, I do this everyday. I have been wondering if w sauna suit would work for cold conditions. It would be nice to replace gear that takes up space with something that packs so small.
Great video 👍
You need to carry what is called a Silcok key set. So when you find a faucet that has that funny looking knob on top, you can get water. I carry two with me all the time, just in case.
great video!
Drove by there yesterday! That’s a lot of 🦇 🦇
I've passed by that place hundreds of times but never spent the night... 👍 your videos ...
Dug it, bruh! Another good one, James.
Rah rah my man, God bless. I appreciate your videos.
Investigate snugpak jungle blanket xl for the cooler nights. I have had good luck down to 30 with nothing else but a raised bed. Added to your wool it should be very nice for cool nights. I have lived in Minnesota for the last 38 years so I may be more tolerant of the cold but the Jungle blanket is very light and surprisingly warm to me.
great video, you've Al most toke it's simple form, well done.
GReat video James! Agree that the goatheads here in NM suck! Stealth camping is a good thing. Good preparedness. The bats were cool. Glad to see your hands working good brother! - Tell next time. Cheers!
also... looking at those stickers reminded me.... a ultra light broom would be good for backpacking had this thought many times
or a "broom head " that affixed to a stick... making a broom
Ya its part of being prepared . Getting use to being alone .a nd in a new spot means alot
We had goat head thorns when I lived in Denver
Had to put slime inside my bike tires because I would get a flat tire Everytime I rode
Our here in Wisconsin I've had two flat tires in twenty years. No thorns growing around here
💯
🔥
The best drink mixes I tried are those Welch's singles to go in the Cherry Pomegranate and Passion Fruit, they for the 16oz bottle so it takes for 32oz canteen, sometime water can be sorta boring so I think they're nice for a change
Try turning your boots upside down to keep critters from crawling in them
make more stealth videos!
Have fun
Enjoyed the stealth camping.
Ah, man. Ravioli is my favorite.
These visa are super cool. Keep it up.
Great vid bud
Wowzers! Bats 😱
From the perspective of training, I can see how stealth camping could be valuable.
Nice Stealth camp. Let’s see some more.
You better get 122K likes on this video. It was great!
Hot bags man..get you a nice 15-20 degree nice sleeping bag.. I just picked up the Carinthia Defence 4 bag…you’d be at home in it.
Great video
This time of year, where I live. One does not camp, unless one has gear that is good below freezing, and I don't. :)
