I really like how they use the usage of the theremin/electronic vs the guitar/drums to describe the character. All of the drum/guitar bits, while definitely still pleasantly kickass as one expects from the series, but it's actually rather straightforward as a melody, well-suited for a normal, everyday fellow like Zappa is. Meanwhile, the theremin is all over the place, erratic and fast, oftentimes overshadowing the guitar and drums, much like the ghosts do to him! Very nicely done, Mr. Ishiwatari!
Ohh, I realized another thing! The theme both briefly opens and closes with heavy guitar and virtually no theremin, sorta representing how Zappa always loses control and is forced to come to in the aftermath of all the fights.

For all the years I've played Guilty Gear XX, Zappa has always been my main man. I'll alternate to Slayer every once in a while and will experiment with the rest of the cast on occasion, but Zappa's always the one I've been drawn to using the most. Mainly because, during my first times playing the game, he was the one that caught my eye the best, to put it lightly. Not even 10 seconds, I was already asking to myself "Okay, what the fuck is this guy's deal?" and that's literally the only reason I started using him. I kept playing with him, because I always found something comical about finding any new crazy shit he can summon and before you know it, he's the one I'm most comftorable with.

RFD1996 Apparently he is still possessed, just knows how to keep them at bay, only using them when he absolutely has to. Unless I'm wrong and he really isn't possessed at all anymore. That would be a shame because getting rid of his fighting gimmick severely reduces the chance of him being added back in. Not to mention kinda inconsistent plot-wise since after getting exorcised, he revealed he always knew about S-Ko and that he was in love with her, so he let the ghosts possess him again just so he could be with her. Still, since he has the ghosts at bay at least, there is still a chance that he'll play differently when brought back. Since he's already got Jojo references to him, I can see the ghosts basically being his Stands, similar to the way Dizzy's "systems" / wings, Necro and Undine, do most of the fighting for her.
RFD1996 Actually you bringing this up makes me wonder how A.B.A. will work in Xrd. Reason why is because one of her endings has her successfully transferring Paracelsus' soul to a human body, so that begs the question; is this the canon ending for her? Because if it is, this means she doesn't have the weapon that serves as her entire gimmick anymore. Which begs another question; will Paracelsus himself be a playable character in a future Xrd title?

Zappa is just gonna take a while because Daisuke has already said that having an all-star cast is exactly what he wants, just that it'll take a while with the frame-by-frame animation for the 3D models to add in each character, and Zappa here, unlike the other three characters that got 3D models for the sake of future-proofing (Dizzy, Baiken, and Answer), Zappa's whole fighting style and gimmick will require MULTIPLE different models to be made for the ghosts that possess him, and all of them will also require frame-by-frame animation done too. But since it's been heavily foreshadowed, I'm pretty sure Zappa, Robo Ky, and Anji Mito will definitely make a comeback fairly soon.

Some guys at college set Guilty Gear XX up in the lounge, so I walked up and acted like I didn't know how to play. I pretended to randomly pick Zappa, then played like a nincompoop for the first round. When the second round started, I turned around in my seat, bent over backwards, and contorted into a weird position, muttering gibberish while playing upside-down. This freaked the other guy out so much that I went perfect in the third round. They stopped playing fighting games with me after that.
