I really think Red Sea have upped their game here with the S range. I would have no issues ordering one myself. Looking forwards to watching this one develop
That is some impressive joinery skills 🙌. Meticulous planning. Love the new reef tank, especially the extended sump for you mini coral farm...so jealous. Great video mate 👍
Power bricks are easy to mount-heavy duty/industrial Velcro tape for the win, and you can always change position easily in the future. Just put a piece/pieces on the back of the bricks and Velcro to that plastic back panel😊
OK - but how do you fix the Velcro to the panel? Superglue/some other adhesive? If so, how well do adhesives stand up to humid/salty environments? I'm trying to work out how best to do this without screwing anything into my stand, to avoid compromising the waterproof finish (& for ease of re/moving if needs be later on)...
@@richh6790 You buy the 3M / Scotch dual lock mounting squares and/or command strips. Whichever you prefer - I like the clear plastic scotch ones the most. It's basically plastic velcro. A couple squares or strips on each power brick and you're good to go - I have all my stuff mounted on walls etc. in that way and it should work here even on the plastic back too.
Looking good Fella , I’ve just set my 525 up, all plumbed , most equipment set up, majority of the cable Managment done , water getting delivered (gone NSW , first time) rather than multiple runs too the LFS, maybe time for a RODI machine…. See you on the next one 👍🏻
Hi @Reef Dork Reference leak test, is there any value in keeping the tank "out of final position" in case of a leak, or just take a chance it's all good and tank/plumbing won't have any leaks (that need tank/stand pulling out)? Also, are there any issues in using normal tap water to leak test (for those of us that don't have their own RODI station)? Cheers, Rich.
No I don't think so - I'm not expecting the tank to leak, it's really the plumbing I'm checking. Tap water is fine as long as you get rid of it, although I'll be using rodi.
Nice. Say I wanted to use the extension as an ato reservoir and put a refugium in the sump, could the skimmer go in the front portion of the sump, next to the roller, and the back compartment be for the refugium?
The main sump is designed so the skimmer sits in the back section, before the return pump - it has an adjustable height baffle to set the water level right for the skimmer. And the previous section has a weir comb which will prevent strands of chaeto from escaping. The same isn't true of the section before the return pump so you might get chaeto in the return pump. But yes, you could still do it that way if you wanted.
I’m interested in upgrading a hugely stocked 120 to a g2 900 How did you handle your coral migration? I thought I’d set up a frag tank or something to hold corals for a week or two but I don’t know if that would work
Congrats on the new tank!!! RE: the sump silicone...Sorry but that's way too much money for them not to do as good as possible on every inch of the tank/sump. Shame on you, Red Sea.
I just want to call out that the separated sump extension is ideal for a refugium because now your fuge light isn't blasting your return/skimmer/etc. and growing tons of algae there. I have a clear trigger systems sump without any such division (or even color to block light) and it really sucks having my fuge light grow crap everywhere
Absolutely stunning! When I upgrade next this is definitely the one for me. ❤ However quick question, I noticed the cabinet lighting in the sump was fantastic. Did that come stock or did you install it separately?
Red Sea tanks are bombs waiting to explode I would never invest in one or trust it in my home , but ay that’s just me, you can put that thing on a sea saw and take your chances mate.
“Work experience boys to do the inside silicon of the sump” 😂😂😂
Reef Dork, don’t change, your humour is still spot on 😂
I noticed that myself- the DT has great silicone work. The sump looks like the silicon was applied with a masonry trowel.
I really think Red Sea have upped their game here with the S range. I would have no issues ordering one myself. Looking forwards to watching this one develop
At night your fish will all congregate in the front left corner to watch the latest episode of Peaky Blinders!
By order of the Peaky F***ing Blinders!
@@ReefDork 😄
Thats a cracking setup. I love the split sump and the colour coded pipework. Looking forward to the next installment!

It's funny you mention the sump silicon, every failure I've had with red sea tanks has been the sump leaking!
That chunk of aquascape is looking very well made, congratulations on the new tank! Im on the G2 350 and loving it so far
Absolutely love this series. Can't wait for things to ramp up.
That’s a big tank good luck on your new adventure

🐱Cat approved 😋 Looking forward to the build progress.

Awesome video. That cat at the end is pushing it...
🤣
I'm currently setting up an Innovative Maine 170 and I am at about the same point as you. Its interesting comparing the two systems and the set up.
This build will be epic! I keep repeating that I'm not jealous, but I think I am 🤣
Very nice mate it's going to look awesome with LPS
Lovely tank, but even lovlier choice of watch, always wanted a Navitimer
Very sleek 💯👌🔥🙌
For all the bad rep Redsea have had that looks a stunner of a tank
Nice setup 👍
Loved the cat 😂
I have some older RS tanks that I honestly don't trust that much, but these new ones seem to have addressed their issues.
I’m nowhere near clever enough to figure out what you just said like usual, but also like usual I watch right to the very end
🙏
Nice one. Looking good 👍🏻
Time to swap them red sea lights already. 🙃

@ReefDork Then just add the salt directly to the tank, assuming it passes the leak test?
@@discol76 I'll drain this after a week to wash off any manufacturing goop then fill with rodi again, then add salt
@ReefDork Ahh good idea

Apologies if youve mentioned this already, but where did you source your premade aquascape from?
RR Aquascapes
Lovely Tank but change the bafful valve for a gate valve as you will find the bafful valve will get blocked eventually.
I’m interested in upgrading a hugely stocked 120 to a g2 900

Watch this for what I did - ua-cam.com/video/pNsWVvDkyQU/v-deo.html
Basically, cycle it, get new tank parameters right then move everything over.
Where did you get those fans? i wanna put a set in my 350g2.
Amazon - search Eluteng PC fans. They're fantastic 👌
Congrats on the new tank!!! RE: the sump silicone...Sorry but that's way too much money for them not to do as good as possible on every inch of the tank/sump. Shame on you, Red Sea.
Do the tank failures not worry you with Red Sea?
Nope - I talked about that in episode 1...
Am I colorblind or are those pipes orange!?
😅 defo red!
I know they have had issues at times but im on my third red sea tank and no issues. I like the G2 tank and the ability to alter the sump for a roller.

Stunning tank, looking forward to seeing how this turn out 👍
Love the vids man can’t wait to see the full build! What camera do you film with?
A roll is a Fuji X-S20, B roll is a Fuji X-T4 - love them both!
Awesome bro beautiful tank looking forward to seeing the progress
Absolutely stunning! When I upgrade next this is definitely the one for me. ❤ However quick question, I noticed the cabinet lighting in the sump was fantastic. Did that come stock or did you install it separately?
Not stock - it's 6m of Philips Hue strip lights...
@@ReefDork Ohh pricey! I love Hue because they just work, but damn are they expensive. Either way looks great!
Looks very well proportioned . Looks like you picked a winner . Good job as usual . 😊
It’s a beautiful tank
I can’t wait to see the g3 and g4 later on down the road as they improve things like what you mentioned
Great video Alex looking forward too the next
Made my day seeing this, setup looks good!
Great update mate 👍
Cheers Ste

How many redsea tanks have failed, icannot imagine a company like redsea can have this stigma without doing something about it.
