Song of the Day - Day 7 - It's My Party by Lesley Gore

This song, written by Herb Wiener, John Gluck Jr., Wally Gold and Seymour Gottlieb and produced by Quincy Jones, was a hit for Lesley Gore in 1963. Dave Stewart (not that one) and Barbara Gaskin had a number 1 hit in the UK with their cover of the song in 1981. This synth-based version features a compellingly weird intro and interludes, making it much more dramatic than the original and more in-keeping with the "teenage rejection" subject-matter. Interesting factoid: Thomas Dolby features in the video of the song.
