What an absolute class act Matt! Such a nice guy, apologizing to the crowd for something completely out of your hands. You were killing it on your final run too. Next year legend!!
Matt definitely was one of the bright stars of this Hardline.... Not there to win but to push his own limits and check off his own goals..... Which is super relatable for most of us everyday riders.... Mattt seems to truly be enjoying this format of riding. Well done depsite the tire issues. but that is racing....
@Ivypoison23 Their time is coming... I like their approach of steady, smooth, safe progression... Gone are the days of just send it and hope for the best.
This is why I love MTB. True sportsmanship. I’m gutted for you, but the fact you apologised for something out of your control to the fans shows what a gentleman you are. Respect. You’re always a pleasure to watch
That course was brutal on bikes. The whole race was decided on the top section; the only people who were able to gain any time below that were the top 3. Ronan and Bernard were superhuman.
Matt I think everyone will agree super super proud of your journey this year so far! From a slopestyle guy to doing full runs top to bottom at Hardline Events! Mate absolutely epic! Will continue to follow your journey ever since Covid backyard builds!
Be super proud of your Hardline Matt. You came out completely blind and was one of the first people to ride the new top section in absolutely horrible muddy conditions. And then became one of only two to clear the canyon gap. Even without the finish, I'd say your Hardline was legendary.
Looking from POV doesn't do any justice to these tracks. Those downhill paths are absolutely vertical! Must be great being part of the elite crew that is actually able to concur such tracks. Awesome content man!
It’s crazy how fast the racers are. Watching live, Matt clearly was slower and more hesitant than the top guys, but you’d never know it from the GoPro.
I think you can be very proud of what you (and Jono) have done. No one can take the canyon gap test jump away from you! You have been great ambassadors for hardline this year. The race got 69K views and a good chunk of that was down to you.
Win or Lose it takes big balls of steel to go down that course whether it’s practice or race run, you smashed it Matt and watching all the content has been awesome. Thanks for taking us all along for the ride.
Watched the race on sunday. That course was sacrificing bikes left right and center! Realy enjoy following this journey. Its inspirational. Keep up the good work mate and well done.
Great effort dude, was awesome to see your progression through the week (and from previous years) and like everyone so gutted for your race run, next year you got this top to bottom on race day 👍🏼🤘🏼
Watching this makes Ronan’s winning run look so much more impressive! Dude was absolutely FLYING. Huge props to all the riders who can make it down this track!!
You’re the reason we watch Hardline, Matt!!!!! I watch all of the boys content religiously running up to hardline, and yours is my favorite this years! You really showed how MENTAL the terrain is with all the sharp rocks. Honestly I’m shocked that half the bikes survive a race pace run. CONGRATS man I can’t wait to see you do it again soon!!!!!!!
We were there Sunday, you didn’t get the result you wanted, could see you were gutted, but you were out with the fans, smile on your face happy to chat! The sport needs more people like you Matt. You’re a stand up lad and you’ll get the result you wanted next year!
Yeah each rider basically gets a whole week to smooth out their line as much as they can. So while the Rampage hill is gnarly as, they can basically turn it into a professional smoothed out line.
First hardline ive properly followed, and mats videos have been great all week. Tysm for showing us bts of hardline and showing the valuable work of builders and marshels
So proud of what you accomplished Matt! Even if your race ended short, you were still able to walk away which is a huge win. Plus hitting the canyon gap is enormous in and of itself! Well done!
Thank you for just diving in without some 5 minute intro. Amazing video! You have the wind settings on your camera just right, so the wind isn't overpowering, but there just enough of it to tell that you're going fast. Love the riding
you sir, are an absolute star, so humble, ive binge watched you youtube, what balls it takes to ride that stuff, im just getting back into mtb riding, gutted to see you didn't get down, nothing to be ashamed of, superb performance, youre an inspiration
Gutted about the final for you, Jono & TE - but there'll be next year. Loved all the pre race vids, they really helped bring to life the level of difficulty you all faced. Looked horrendous... Legends!
As new viewer of hardline and of this channel,i must say this lads journey resonates the most what hardline is,gutted for you matt, great channel, stay hungry, stay awesome!!!
Mate I've been watching the whole lead up and I was so gutted when I saw the tyre go! You are are true class act and should be so proud of everything. You'll get it next time!
Gutted for your run but without you competing and posting here I wouldn't have got to see this incredible event - Thank you and keep up the amazing work ❤
It's always amazing seeing how versatile your skills are Matt. And to ride that track on flat pedals, then be one of the few who ahd the chance to conquer the river gap. Well done!
Matt you are the man. Every time you are so nice and polite with every one. Mi è dispiaciuto un sacco per quello che è successo. Però dai... sei stato tra i primi a provare quel mostro di salto. Top Rider!!
Absolute legend as is every other rider that had a go at any of that course. Seeing how hard you found it is far more inspiring and entertaining than watching someone smash it clean in my opinion. That was a great weekend of videos 💪💪
So many of your fans were in the live stream chat it was amazing. Really enjoyed all your coverage from the event and I'm looking forward to watching you hit the river gap again next year!
It was such a shame! I was watching live and looking forward to seeing you go after watching the build up on your channel and couldn’t believe it! Well done on sending it down hardline, I would never dare! 😅
You had schralp of the day in that berm. It was so sick, gutted the tire came off. Was a great week and your progression over these hardline races has been immense over last year to now.
Matt you represent the sport in such a great way! From a positive and thankful mentality to absolute gnar-thrashing any course. Hate to see it happen to you, but you uphold so many staples of the sport!
New follower of yours and gutted for you and your brother too! You did a great job on and off the bike throughout the whole event. I'll be hanging around for more for sure - keep the great content coming! I know your tyre came off the rim and it was likely related to that left handed berm you took so fast, but I'd be really interested to hear a deeper detailed analysis of what actually happened, why, how it could be avoided in future, tyre pressures, those cool new rims, etc, etc, if you were up for it.
I just want you to know that of all the MTB racers you are my favorite. I love your personality and good spirits. We all could have a bit more Matt is all of us. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration to us all.
Subscribed for recent content and you being truthful for that wicked course. Y'all have balls of steel!!! No disrespect to ladies with statement as ya'll keep challenging limits.
When there’s a bouncer at the start of your trail telling you when you can go…. Surely at that point you wonder what you’re doing there?! 😂 You still smashed it Matt, thanks for bringing us along brother 🙏
Was gutted about this - watched your videos through the week, seeing the confidence build, and tuned into the coverage just as you started your run. I hope that you'll be there next year though, hopefully to jump that canyon gap again... That's gonna be mad to have that in an actual competition! Mental. Onwards and upwards fella!
Well done Matt, shame you couldn’t get a final full run in but you should still be mega proud of how far you’ve come with ridding this kind of stuff, it’s the hardest track in the world and you’re doing full runs 💪🏽
So proud of you for stepping up to these insane challenges, hardline and darkfest, even if the POV footage doesn't do it justice it's clear that you're scared but pushing through and doing it anyway. Great job!
Dude the bike gods were like He gets to pioneer the scary gap!!! Buuuut flat on race day thanks fer coming out! Good to see you grinning and grateful despite that fuxking flat. Cheers!
What an absolute Legend you are Matt! Racing Hardline along with the elite AND being one of the few to hit the river gap. Shame about yours and Jonos run, kinda funny that you both had a technical at almost the same spot tho. That part of the track seams like a wheel killer! Well... Which part isn't xD Had a blast watching you and others covering this mad event! You got this next year!
I so utterly enjoyed your hardline content. It truly showed how difficult this really is. Sure you might not be competitive but man o man you showed so well how tough this really is and how flipping amazing all those riders are. Sir, you can be proud of your self!!!
Awww mate, gutted for you both. So heart warming to see the crowd try to console you, they were as gutted as you but still right behind you all the way good to see the love for MTB no matter who you be!! ❤🤟🤟.
Absolutely gutted for you mate, seeing you and Jono together and being so loving and supportive towards each other is so nice to see. Next year buddy, next year.
what an absolute bloody shame- i was gutted when i saw what happened, and double gutted that jono did essentially the same thing in the same place!! can't wait to watch you push yourself at the next hardline - may the bad luck not follow you into 2025 hardline(s) !! mega that you finessed the road gap this year, and good on ya for how you reacted. of you were going to be disappointed but you were still being a stand up bloke to everyone. big ups to ya matt
Gutted you didn't get to finish but what a week dude, riding with some of the best to do it and the river gap was epic, look fowards to more in the future 👍🚲
That ending tells you everything you need to know about Matt. Absolute class act. Not being too bummed about the bad luck and keeping a good sport. Love it
I have to say that I was very disappointed that you & your brother had problems with your rear tyres but you have the chance to come again & give us all some thrills next season.. best of luck for the rest of the year.
Absolutely smashed it bruva, for once blame the gear! Proved yourself numerous times! Me and the wife still your biggest fans here in New Zealand 🍻⚒️👌 #00
maaaaaate! proper gutted for you, heard and felt that "NOOO!" on the live stream 😥 sick week though, you can be proud of so much, legendary entertainment 💞💞
Casual as you like, "I'm going to hit the road gap, see you down there". Was not your day but boy, lot to be proud of this week! Although after you chat before dropping in was devastated. On to the next one! You (and Jono) entertained us all week, the Helfare boys had the sickest kit (available for order), and you handed your mate his Red Bull helmet.
You gave it a propper run mate. Hopefully next year you'll get to compete as well. Its been a blast watcing your adventure. And can't wait to see what more you end up doing now. Considering how difficult this task is.
Props to you man… your hard graft everyday and still when it comes to it give it everything! Not many people like you about man! Can’t wait to see you killin it next year 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Broke my heart for you when your tire blew, Matt. I can't imagine how devastating it is/was for you. I'm glad it happened safely, though. I can't wait to see what you're capable of next year! Keep your head up, dude.
Great mind uptake of that unfortunate tire breaking. True the track is extraordinarily rough and good the river gap was not included... It would be great to have it as an extra-day feature one-on-one besides the race... Cool you went to the public and be happy mate, I dream myself of riding with my bro once like you, but am old... Courage and see yae soon
Such a bummer seeing that happen live. You put in a lot of work. At least you learned a lot for next year, and nobody can say that Jamie carried the channel this week.
Well done Matt… punctures are an absolute pain in the ass….. don’t give up dude. Looking forward to seeing the improvement next year from this year, just as I can see the improvement this year from last year!!!!!! Everyone there this year absolutely smashed it!!!!! Looking forward to seeing the ladies getting to do a run on finals day next year 👍🤙🏻👊🏼⚡️
Matt, you looked so much more comfortable in your practice run than your last Hardline event. You are really crushing this new discipline mate. Sucks to see a tyre put you out of the run!!
One of the good guys for sure. Really sorry it had to end that way but you showed you've got the ability to do it.... Another time hopefully. All the very best.
Matt was definitely not the run we all wanted especially yourself but the progression to take on hardline fair play was all positives and can’t wait to see you and Jono smash it out next year!
You were definitely on track to do the full run for sure. Watching the stream, all of you guys are absolutely mental. Maybe next year you need Goodyear to do a hardline specific tyre, something like a motorbike tyre haha
I'm sure you're gutted more than anyone this weekend, but it's a clear sign to buckle up and go harder... It's always great just to see you on your bike. Mate
Fair play to you mate, you still did great and only one of two to manage that canyon gap which absolutely insane with no netting. The fact you were apologising to your supporters says it all, top bloke. 👍
Bad luck Matt. Compared to other times you ve ridden hardline I felt you looked like you have improved your downhill riding skills. 👌New helfare kit looks awesome 😎
Dude, gutted!! However, watching the video of the faster riders, it looked smooth. But your videos truly showed how much a barstad of a course it was!! The holes between features looked small, but you showed how big they were. Takes BIG KAHUNAS to ride that track. Fair play to you and all the others who finished or not, all MTB hero's #respect 👊
What an absolute class act Matt! Such a nice guy, apologizing to the crowd for something completely out of your hands. You were killing it on your final run too. Next year legend!!
Honestly! That stood out more than any of the riding from this week
Lol, this guy cheated on his fiance for years with a horsey milf 😂 he's a bit scummy lol
well, I mean he did roll it off with the cutty in that corner
After watching all week, was gutted to see race run end. You got the canyon gap though!
Did they remove the canyon jump?
Which one cured AIDS, Matt or Johnnie-Oh?
Oh wait these guys actually do NOTHING for humanity
@@DaveWasThereMan bro what’s your beef with matt and jono 💀
@@DaveWasThereMan whats your issue
Best canyon jump. Man you won. I am waiting for hardline jumps.

Exactly why I can appreciate all the ladies showing up even though they didn’t race. Everyone is just there to push themselves
Matt is the only guy who can sound so angry and calm at the same time
That course was brutal on bikes. The whole race was decided on the top section; the only people who were able to gain any time below that were the top 3. Ronan and Bernard were superhuman.
Literally - after that first split Bernard beat Ronan to the bottom, genuinely decided in the first sector
So hectic to think about how fast Bernard was that lower section and Ronan still booked it in that top bit.
And that crazy cat from Columbia, started it all off with that insane attack on the top section. That’s when it all kicked off!
The Columbian did alright too. Watch his space!
@@JohnChristopher-k7u both Colombians did really well. Juanfer Velez and Sebastian Holguin 🇨🇴👌

That drone coverage they had during the stream was crazy. Especially that one rock section next to the cliff.
Was it another tire that ended the final run ? Regardless you should be stoked man . Love your content 🤙🏼. Congrats on the River gap as well 🤯
