I loved the cover and wish you luck on completing your goals. I always have two sketchbooks running at a time. One small one to travel with me and a larger one to paint and play in so while one is drying I can still work in the other one.
I love to draw hands! Would you like a few hand drawing tips? Draw a “Skeleton” of the hand pose, to help give a ruff idea where the fingers will go. Use your own hands as a reference, you’ll know if something is off and use the thumb as a point of reference on where the rest of the fingers need to go.
i enjoyed the process so much,i rlly like the pose and the girl you were drawing, and this made it more fun to watch with drawing on ur cover with guache, this video rlly made me want to have guache but my wallet said no😍
Your cover turned out so cool! I just purchased my newest sketchbook. We have very similar goals except the size! I did a more portable sketchbook last time, so this time I bought a slightly larger sketchbook bc I want to do more sitting at my desk. I love the idea of using fan art as a way to practice drawing males! I think drawing some of the male characters from Studio Ghibli movies would be a good start since some are slightly feminine:3
This is soo beautiful 😍 I've got a question: since this is a cover drawing, should I use anything additional for it to stick well, last longer and not make anything dirty or get dirty itself? Or does is dry well enough?
I'd say clean it up with some alcohol to get rid of varnish or something in case it has anything like that on it, then paint and seal it with some kind of varnish/sealant that you have tested doesn't feel sticky to the touch. 2 or even 3 coats should be all good. Don't forget to take some safety measures 👀 I'd assume it would be problematic if you used acrylic and a lot of layers to the point that the paint cracks, because no sealant can save that. So basically, clear surface(or even sand it if you so wish? It could work great depending on the material of the cover), dont layer enough that the pain cracks and apply a few layers of sealant
I think that depends on the kind of cover you use! If it’s really smooth then it might be a good idea to gently use some sand paper to create texture for the paint to grip on. (In my case I just went straight in because the cover was already textures) But It’s always good to make sure there isn’t any dirt/ oiliness on the cover (for example from touching it a lot) before painting. And sealing your painting with some kind of varnish or spray sealant is really important to protect your piece :)
Literally me going to the art store to buy a sketchbook to paint , payed and came back with a sketchbook with print on it hahaha o well🤪 ( also because I can not find a sketchbook with white smooth paper and nothing on it also not to big and not to small any suggestions? Love this vid! Be yourself a sketchbook is a place to be you and explore new art styles and create something you will diffently love!💗
Good job on the cover, I like the small color palette you choose. Coincidentally I also use Canson One sketchbooks for my dry media and coincidentally I wrote "drawing men" and "drawing hands" on the list I always put on the beginning. I've never even thought about painting that cover, I guess you gave me a new goal!
What! That is such a great coincidence xD I hope we both succeed in achieving our goals then! And you should try painting your cover for sure. It’s so much fun ^^
It looks amazing, but the moment you said gouache my heart stopped a little lol. If you get it even a little bit wet it can get ruined! I would be stressing way too much for that! I have also spilled a lot of liquids on my sketchbooks over the years though, so that might just be me 😅
No worries! I used Holbein acryla gouache, so it stays dry just like acrylic paint! And I sealed the piece after finishing it ^^ I spill way too much stuff on my sketchbooks to risk using regular gouache T^T
Both works! Depends on how opaque you want your paint to be😄 You can also start out with watered down layers and build up color on top. And a little usually goes a long way with gouache ~
the cover looks great, has an old school movie poster look to it 😀

Gouche!!! I wanna learn gouache!! And hands too ;-) For gouache... do you add water?? Or just go right from the tube?

I love opaque
