Trip Report: Sun Country | Vegas to Minneapolis

- It's been asked for and I'm finally grabbing a flight with Sun Country Airlines! My inaugural flight takes me from fabulous Las Vegas to Minneapolis. Sun Country flies Boeing 737-800 aircraft...I'll be in a "best" seat today. Enjoy!

Flying during the c19 was a pain in the neck
I enjoy following your channel as an avgeek myself and being that MSP is my home base, I was very interested to see what you had to say about SC! I agree with your assessment. They often have very reasonable fares to PHL but I learned recently that that airport is a seasonal operation for them, so on my next trip to Philly I have booked American. Thanks for the videos!

And I live in Minnesota and I'm talking about11 plan trips and At least 7 of those plane trips were on sun country and I rate them about a 9 out of 10
I wish I had the chance to get on them more often. I had a good experience on my two flights.
This video has been really informational. Oh, and at 5:15 that's probably going to be me as I'm seated. lol. Basic economy things...
It happens. Seems like I'm always at the back of my boarding group and have to ask someone to move...since I'm almost always on the window, I do try to get in earlier, just doesn't seem to work out. :\

They use to be a wierd hybrid lower cost leisure airline with a first class and everything.

The first class was great. Good food and a big warm cookie. Seats were big.
We use them to fly to Cancun very great airlines we used them in 2020 from Dallas to Minneapolis they are friendly also they let me hold the seatbelts and oxygen mask when going to cancun back in 2019

Have to say, as an AV geek, I suggest not fast forwarding through takeoffs and landings.
As an avgeek, I understand...but the analytics tell me people turn off the video if I put the full takeoff in the video...
It seems that Sun Country Is better than Allegiant In my opinion.
I would rank them above Allegiant.

How were the seat belts? I had the horror of one not fitting last month on a United flight. Plenty of seat belt for the flight to my destination but my flight home couldn't buckle. I never want to relive that embarrassment again. I just pretended it was buckled, was not going to ask for an extender- I'm chubby but not obese so I was really mortified! I'm flying Suncountry and hope their seat belts aren't just for thin people
I don't recall them being short, but as I found on my last Spirit flight where I actually measured them, lengths do vary...one was 30" and the other was 22", I think. When in doubt get on Amazon and buy an extender. I looked for an earlier commenter, and they were less than $20. Might be worth it!
Thanks for the video. How much did the "best " seat cost u ? Thinking of flying BOS to LAS and was wondering about leg room (I'm 6'3) and cost of seats and if it would be less expensive with Sun Country or a major airline ? Thanks for sharing
If that's a non-stop from BOS, I personally would upgrade to the extra room. 5 hours in regular seating would be uncomfortable.
@@TrizityTraveling the flight i was looking at connected in MSP so we would have to buy extra room seats on both segments So do u think it would come out to be the same price as a major carrier? Thanks for ur quick respone
Probably pretty close to a mainline economy seat after the upgrade. I would use flights.google.com for the dates you are looking at if you haven't purchased yet. It will give you the lowest cost flight unless you need to use Sun Country.
Bear in mind the total cost on a low cost carrier not only depends on the seat, but charges for carry on or checked bags which are not included when fare searching.
Unfortunately I'm not an official travel agent yet (later this year) so I can't look for you. Kayak is another good source for fare searching...
OMG.... I can't believe you would want to insult Sun Country airlines by saying they were similar to a trainwreck like Spirit ...
Granted I only have two flights with Sun Country, and 6 with Spirit, but you'll have to enlighten me on their differences. I've not had a bad experience on either.
Takeoffs are always so turbulent out of Vegas.
And usually landings in my experience...

Underseat is the only free bag. If you have a roller that goes in the overhead you will be charged and are better off pre-paying before arriving at the airport.
How wide are the seats? Are they comparable to Allegiant?
The seats are listed at 17 inches, but I think they are more comfortable than Allegiant.
Well that doesn't look as bad as some of the other discount airlines... But I'll stick with American! Safe Travels!!

Spirit or sun country
Wow, that's actually a tough question...I'd always go with the plus section or big front seat, so comparing those...the BFS is essentially a domestic first class seat so you get a good amount of room...Spirit has a bigger network and is beginning flights here to my home airport this August (we'll see how long that lasts), but I think I'd give Sun Country the win in a photo given the slightly better amenities that are included when sitting in the plus section over the big front seat - i.e. free adult beverage, some streaming...

Hey i'm flying Sun Country 6 hour flight from MSP to AUA there longest flight please give me advice😄
Always bring what you consider essential onboard with you. For me that's some backup food (I have to be GF), charging cables, and a book. I always try to download a movie or 4 on my phone, depending on flight duration so I'll have something to do, and the book is in case my device battery dies.

Yes, under the seat in front of you. I actually don't recall if the overheads charge a fee...I don't normally use the overheads...
Yes Sun COUNTRY charges for overhead bags. Price varies on when you purchase and where you ate going. If possible add before you get to the airport as it is more $.
This so called airline is so bad. They offered a First class cabin with hot meal service on fine china. Plus unlimited barservice. Now look at this . My husband Justin and me we would refuse to be treated like cattle. We love AMTRAKs First class cabin with free onboard service in the dining car. Fantastic
Taking my first train trip next week. I'm looking forward to a new travel experience.
