That fallen trunk with branches growing upward is strange. Quite a pleasure to see your vlog. Your complicity with Meg is just one in a million. Your imagery is beautiful as always.
Nice to see the date, 2021. Good to see Meg. The new views are refreshing. For a guy with a bad back you move pretty well. The Witch Speaks: Twenty yrs from now, you won't move this well. Ha,ha,ha,ha. Well, maybe thirty years.
Awesome video Simon. You are definitely in my kind of terrain, I love those small intimate cascades of water. If you ever to New Zealand you will have a field day with them!!
Always appreciate learning your thought process behind each image. The area you have access to is a treasure indeed. Those amazing trees and streams! And Meg rolling around in the leaves!
Back to your best again Simon, wonderful cascades so peaceful. passing some great trees on your walk in and walk out, very envious. Hopefully we will be released when it's safe.
Im not a dog owner but man, does Meg add value to your vlogs! This episode brings such calmness and serenity, the intrinsic sound of flowing water never fails to settle one’s heart rate. A class vlog yet again Simon, thank you.
Really enjoyed the narrative here about what may be beyond the boulders as the beck twists. Currently reading ‘The Old Ways’ by Robert MacFarlane and something about what you said resonated with that book in my mind. Great stuff as ever.
Fab stuff Simon love downing water falls ma self i do the clyed at New LANARK a lot as thats were i was brought up as a kid keep the good work up 1st class Simon
Some of my best woodland images involve cascades and boulders. I can't get enough of them. Fortunately, downstate New York has lots of both. Thanks, glaciers! :-)
Beautiful and mystical waterfall shots. Also some of your B-roll shots are jaw-droppers. Those massive oaks there at around 14:22 are incredible - add some fog with those and oh man what a magical shot that could be!
Hey Simon - I love this project you are working on - such a stunning place and am really thankful for the way you are sharing advice and thoughts on composition & scouting, really helpful. Especially liking the medium term view you describe and visualising how images will look in certain conditions whilst still taking the photograph now. As ever, thanks for sharing & keep well!
Great video Simon. It's always fun to see Meg's antics and it was good to see your images of the stream and waterfalls, although around the 4:25 minute mark those trees looked magnificent and I could see you getting some nice images there as well.
Great images, I have a great fondness for smaller waterfalls. At 14.20 of the video i wanted so much to jump into the video and look more closely at those three moss covered with some beautiful light hitting them. We have few moss covered trees in the plains of Alberta that look like those. Oh well hopefully Covid will subside and let us travel again. Stay safe all
Thank you Gary. I've photographed those trees before and they also form part of the gathering that was featured in my last video and also the ones I photographed in my snow video. I'm sure they're going to keep on giving :)
Fantastic location but beautiful images ( I've seen many and many photos of waterfalls but for me yours have something special ,I couldn't say what but I feel it) .Thank you .
i thought you might include the naiad in your beck images, even if she isn't as lovely as I might have expected. Silly me; it's not a naiad, it's Meg! You're really privileged to get that place to explore. :-)
Simon this video: "Man, how can I make a b-roll even more difficult?" Sometimes I want to see a behind the scenes of running back and forth there and back again probably to your Meg's confusion :D
@@SimonBaxterPhotography I do but I wont give its location away (Some things are best left to be discovered - or not as the case may be if this is a private location). It's about 25 mins away from where I live. I'm newish to photography and recently spent sometime looking for a project to photograph over Autumn and winter and had picked this wood out as I've visited part of it on several occasion as a youngster. I recently discovered your amazing woodland work and have been making my way through your videos and almost like a bolt of lighting noticed that this was the very location I was intending on visiting. Back to the drawing board I guess .
Sorry, what were you saying? I was distracted by Meg trying to eat water 😂 Joking aside, I love the way you see the landscape and this was a thoroughly enjoyable vlog, thank you
I love the idea of finding multiple photographs of the same fall. Do you ever do a triptych or other series of photographs from the same spot? I’ve thought of doing that to tell the story of a place. P.S. Meg is a real joy.
another really enjoyable video, thanks simon.is it just me, or does that look like a vulture perched on top of the big rock on the left, with the roots of the tree looking like the head of the vulture? 4.26 in your video.
Thanks Simon, very nice. Do you ever struggle with foot wear? Sometimes wellies are required but walking very far in them is pretty tiring. My Lilly says hi to Meg
That was great Simon. I keep looking, trying to find some “attractive” woodland close to where I live but unfortunately my local area is swamped in conifer plantations 🙁. I’ll try a bit further afield when we’re released from house arrest 😀
I was getting a little worried watching you work your way down that rocky slope with your tripod in your hand. I kept thinking it wouldn't be very much fun to watch you slip and impale yourself with those long, sharp feet on your tripod! Yikes!
16 minutes and 27 seconds of pure wonderfulness..
That 1st cascade image was fabulous
Thank you very much, Andrew :)
Hi Simon, very nice area to go scouting and I bet the Meg loves that.
Thanks for sharing, so relaxing time. Ciao
Very much enjoying your exploration of this woodland. Thanks for taking us along!
That fallen trunk with branches growing upward is strange. Quite a pleasure to see your vlog. Your complicity with Meg is just one in a million. Your imagery is beautiful as always.
Much appreciated, William. Thank you :)
Absolutely beautiful as usual, keep the u-tubes coming, thanks.

Oh what a cute pup, rolling in the leaves!! Great video
Beautiful images. Love that license plate 😉
Haha, many thanks Carlo. Hope you're well!
Another great video, thank you. I hope that Meg and you enjoy the springtime. I will do with my autumn here. Greetings!!!
Just up my street this, i love exploring valley floors you can find some fantastic hidden gems . Meg loves em aswell
I love the burn/ stream where I live lots of waterfalls and rock formations really nice I’m going to start photographing them
Another great video. I'm truly enjoying this series. Have a great week.
Really looking forward to have a day with you !

Loved seeing Meg in the bracken the look on her face was superb. Lovely images as usual, and great tips. Thank you.
Lots of potential. Look forward to further exploration.
Nice change! The photo is worthy an editing video similar to the one you did last year for the woodland pano.
Always appreciate learning your thought process behind each image. The area you have access to is a treasure indeed. Those amazing trees and streams! And Meg rolling around in the leaves!
Thanks for sharing Simon, some very nice images, I think Meg enjoyed the outing.
She certainly did :-D Many thanks!
Really enjoy your style and the way you articulate your thinking. Meg is a clown and you do a great job editing your vlog!
Many thanks, Greg. Glad you enjoyed it :)

The articulation of your thought process is as clear and inspirational as ever

Thank you very much, Andy. Glad you enjoyed the wander with us :)
She feels more like a playful child who's enjoying herself.

Thank you very much, Greg! I'll check out Rob's book as I've been meaning to pick up some of his work.

Thank you very much, Jimmy :-)
The commentary on how you discover each composition is gold! Thank you for bringing us along for the journey
Thank you very much. I'm pleased your enjoyed listening :)

Great waterfall Vlog, thanks for sharing
I love that area. Great stuff! Thanks!
The gentle falls were such a treat meandering through the woodland. Thanks Simon for today's adventure. Much appreciated.

Great video Simon. It's always fun to see Meg's antics and it was good to see your images of the stream and waterfalls, although around the 4:25 minute mark those trees looked magnificent and I could see you getting some nice images there as well.
Thank you, Drake! Yes, lots of trees have been memorised now and so I look forward to making images of them when I feel they are ready :)
What a wonderful place! I'm very much looking forward to seeing more of it!

Love the smaller water falls, you know im always looking for tje big drmatic falls. But, theses smaller ones are more detailed and intricate.
Such wonderful images again!! Looking forward to seeing the fog images!
Always appreciated, Elly :)
Always nice to see u and Meg out and about.
Fantastic location but beautiful images ( I've seen many and many photos of waterfalls but for me yours have something special ,I couldn't say what but I feel it) .Thank you .
That's very kind of you, Enrico! Thank you :)
Some stunning trees on that location..
Lovely images Simon. Great balance achieved on the shutter speed side, retaining detail but still showing that nice motion blur 👌🏻
Many thanks, Sean. I'm pleased you enjoyed them :)

The last image is amazing!
Thank you, Karen. I'm rather fond of that composition and look forward to trying it again :)

I love your work Simon, I’ve noticed you almost always shoot in f11. Do you ever have to focus stack images. Keep up the great work.
Another great video Simon and your dog loved it to like always
Friendship with Joe Cornish leads you to photographing big boulders :)
Your images are beautiful! 🙌🙏💚
Thank you very much, David :)
Awesome falls. I typically find the much bigger falls (rather I go chasing them, despite what TLC recommends 😁)
Haha, a 90s classic :)
Lovely images Simon , best wishes
Thank you very much for saying so, Andy :)
Hi Simon ! Beautiful forest !!!
When I saw the cascade image, I said, “Oh, man!” Very nicely done, Simon.
Thank you very much :)
The B-roll piece at 14.22 is a fantastic scene. Could be the “Dance of the Ancients”. A Viennese Waltz at a ballroom dance exhibition.
Thanks! I have a photo of them somewhere.
Great video as always, I hadn't realised that this particular upland oak wood was privately owned.
Thank you! Yes, it's privately owned and fenced. You know where it is?

Haha, she'll do that for hours -- only stopping if she gets too cold. Thank you, your kind comment is appreciated!
Some great ideas here!
As always a great video Simon. Looks like a very interesting location!

Not to be critical of your stills, but you have some great images among your B roll ...... Meg also a nice addition.
Perhaps you missed the section where I talked about b roll then. My B roll compositions aren't an accident ;)
@@SimonBaxterPhotography Clearly no accident.
another really enjoyable video, thanks simon.is it just me, or does that look like a vulture perched on top of the big rock on the left, with the roots of the tree looking like the head of the vulture? 4.26 in your video.
Thank you, Derek. Sorry, I'm afraid I can't see the vulture but I love that you're looking for things :-D
Thanks Simon, very nice. Do you ever struggle with foot wear? Sometimes wellies are required but walking very far in them is pretty tiring. My Lilly says hi to Meg
Thank you, Stephen. I'm not a big fan of wellies - the ones I am wearing are the best I've had for comfort but they've developed a minor leak.
That was great Simon. I keep looking, trying to find some “attractive” woodland close to where I live but unfortunately my local area is swamped in conifer plantations 🙁. I’ll try a bit further afield when we’re released from house arrest 😀
Many thanks, John! Hope you're able to find some woodland solace soon :)
I sense a water series coming up once all the elements start to play ball.
Maybe, maybe. I certainly think water details are a fun thing to play with when the conditions are less than favourable :)
2:03 She's like..."What???" :D
I`m glad that at 4.20 Meg probably drowned the ticks she might have picked up at 1.50...
Hah, I was one of the people who commented on that spot.

Hehe, I tend not to think about the risks as much as I probably should. I think that comes from my mountain biking days :-P
