Such a wonderful song. I found Luka Bloom long ago when my Father bought me one of his CDs, with the song "The Acoustic Motorbike" on it. You see I ride alot with music playing. Now playing over a set of Bluetooth speakers. So this song really hits home for me. I was in Dublin back in 87, when the Irish rider, and please forgive me, I do not remember his name. Returned home after winning the Tour De France.
Was very familiar with your wonderful song Acoustic Motorbike, but just found this video. Brings back wonderful memories of my first time cycling in Ireland this time 28 years ago. Thank you for the great songs!
Beautiful, uplifting song and video. Luka Bloom even incorporated a little soundbite from his brother Christy at 3:16: "Get up on your bike!" It's from Christy Moore's signature song "Lisdoonvarna" and shows his love and respect for his brother. Which I'm sure is mutual.
Yes ! "spokes" on the track !! I heard you singing on BBC Radio 4 to-night, stopped me right in my tracks, beautiful song with Cherish The Ladies. Thanks
There is the human made world and then there is the calming natural world. What unites the two is the bicycle which is the music made by both. Ride on rave on Luka!
Think I’ll go for a ride Take the bike out of the shed Make a fresh start Get out of my head When the head spins There is no joy Put me on the saddle And I'm a little boy A little boy on a mission Like the Tour de France We're like Fred and Ginger When they're doing their dance To the sound of rubber Out on the old bog road Through the gorse and the heather I'm as free as a bird It helps me remember How good it used to be Feeling like a king The bike, the road, and me Think I’ll go for a ride Every ride has victories Challenges and trials You hope the skies dont open When home is many miles You think you're just cruising Life is flowing along Then you know you're vulnerable At the mercy of the wind With every hill you climb You begin and begin and begin Begin to be a spokesman With the freedom of the road You see the Wicklow Mountains And you know you have to go I think I'll go for a ride Summer evenings on the road The cool breeze in my hair Poetry in motion On two wheels around Kildare There are cycling heroes Each one is my pal They inspire me when I'm pedaling By the river or canal Some days I'm like Sean Kelly Some days I'm David Byrne Pedaling through Dublin Or Portland Oregon Mic Christopher in dreadlocks Donal Lunny and Olwen Fouere Cycling through the city Waving to them all there (Thanks to: Bicycle Times magazine)
I don't get tongue-tied around famous people AT ALL, but meeting Sean Kelly at the '09 Tour threw my ability to speak out the window. This is, by the way, a great ... anthem... for riding.
Thanks Brendan for bringing this lovely video and song to my attention. Watched it before going to work (in the rain) this morning really made me smile
To the cyclist - try a lower gear and faster spinning of your legs, a cadence of 90 revolutions per minute is optimal and you won't get as tired (compared to having the bike it too high of a gear, then straining on the pedals at slow revolutions).
Luka heeft zijn eigen stijl en probeert helemaal niet uit de schaduw van zijn broer te komen.Ik vind ze niet met elkaar te vergelijken. totaal andere stijl. ieder is fantastisch op zijn eigen manier.
his saddle is too high, I am sure the dutches agree, legs should not be straight, anyway his music is amazing....is his brother still on hunger strike in jail?
This is by far the best bicycle song written! I love this. Thank you!
queen called, they asked to speak to you

"You begin to be a spokesman"
Only Luka Bloom could write such a preciously corny pun about cycling. :)
Love, love, love this Luka. I love this almost as much as I love riding my bike
It´s a very positive song. I like that.

Luka used the line in Acoustic Motorbike as well.
Thank you for this song - it's just about perfect (from a cycling fanatic).

It is high time for you to lead cycle tours across Erin. I would make the trip to ride with you, especially if we include the Dingle peninsula!
ça donne envie de faire une sortie à vélo dans la nature ; c'est une chanson de bonne humeur ,
Where have you been hiding Luka? I'm enjoying this playlist so much!

Think I’ll go for a ride
Take the bike out of the shed
Make a fresh start
Get out of my head
When the head spins
There is no joy
Put me on the saddle
And I'm a little boy
A little boy on a mission
Like the Tour de France
We're like Fred and Ginger
When they're doing their dance
To the sound of rubber
Out on the old bog road
Through the gorse and the heather
I'm as free as a bird
It helps me remember
How good it used to be
Feeling like a king
The bike, the road, and me
Think I’ll go for a ride
Every ride has victories
Challenges and trials
You hope the skies dont open
When home is many miles
You think you're just cruising
Life is flowing along
Then you know you're vulnerable
At the mercy of the wind
With every hill you climb
You begin and begin and begin
Begin to be a spokesman
With the freedom of the road
You see the Wicklow Mountains
And you know you have to go
I think I'll go for a ride
Summer evenings on the road
The cool breeze in my hair
Poetry in motion
On two wheels around Kildare
There are cycling heroes
Each one is my pal
They inspire me when I'm pedaling
By the river or canal
Some days I'm like Sean Kelly
Some days I'm David Byrne
Pedaling through Dublin
Or Portland Oregon
Mic Christopher in dreadlocks
Donal Lunny and Olwen Fouere
Cycling through the city
Waving to them all there
(Thanks to: Bicycle Times magazine)

Nice song but you knew that already! But also a nice funny videoclip!
Some days he's Sean Kelly, but he looks more like Greg LeMond!
Your music's always a great pleasure, Luka!
Cheers
Bernd
Is that you Luka? Or did you hire a stunt man :-)
Can't wait for the rest of the album, I preordered it today. Pedal On! See you soon in Antwerp!

Well watching honest bikers does me make feel good. Biking should be like this clip. Lance? Who? Sean Kelly!

Fucking brilliant
that's not why he changed his name...

Oli Verhoeven just about straight is proper for an experienced rider.
Need a helmet, Luka. (Great song.)
