NO. All they get is a fine and release to get caught again. It's all about money. If they really care about fish and wildlife then they would prosecute and these people in jail or prison for a year or two. That will stop them. Make them think twice. To much money to be made by keep catching them. Wake up and see the big picture.
Gone are the days when you could go out fishing without worrying about the game warden over your shoulder harassing you about the one legal fish you are allowed to keep as a white person, meanwhile you watch natives pull up fish by the net full with no limit or size regulation. Unwanted species are dumped in the bush and not processed, but that's apparently ok because they are the "Kings fish" and the "Crown" says so.

@brianandrea3249 there should be, there will be nothing left soon especially with all the people that don't get caught taking ridiculous amounts over tge limit that is still too high
Is that fishing vessel seaworthy? At 0.55 it looks like most of the hulls external layer of steel on the port side has rusted away. If that bloke has people working for him how is that a safe workplace? The skipper and his crew made absolute mugs of themselves remonstrating about the cameraman. Hopefully they have some friends who can get through to them.
And if someone gets ill from food poisoning because the fish had not been kept cool enough? Would you be happy if a family member ate the fish and got ill? They said they can't distribute the fish for health reasons in the video. I guess the taxpayer (you) would be happy to pay compensation.
Dumping the fish in the sea is ludicrous, with all of the folks who go hungry every single day! Looks like the poachers have all the rights and no serious punishment. These poachers know exactly what they are doing.
Such a waste of life by the poachers AND the fishery police. Those should have been given to local hospitals, elderly homes and other places with people that can actually use them. Instead they're getting dumped into the sea where some may get eaten, some may not.
What I don't understand is why throw the fish back into the sea, doesn't Australia have state ran children or old people homes where the fish can be donated?😢😢😢
Penalties are a joke. Need much harsher punishment for destroying a fishery. In Florida it's a huge problem. How do you put a price on these kind of abuses? It's a selfish act.
Such a waste to dump back in sea. Should keep the seized fish and sell to restaurants and put profits back in conservation efforts. These small time fishermen are not the problem. They only catch a tiny fraction of what the commercial boats do
Lmao is it really worth it to get over the limit I don't understand why people do it. Selling it probably not worth much and fish is not the best tasting compare to beef.

They look like porgy but are more like snapper when it comes to regulations. It's rare to see porgy to get that big on the eastern US. See what the fine for a catch of red snapper like that on the Gulf Coast will get you. Each fish can result in multiple fines. I saw a guy get 4 charges for each lobster he had. Undersized, out of season, spearing, and removing the tails. They took all his equipment and his vehicle. That's they only way to stop some people. @@Jonathan.D I guess black sea bass regulations are more comparable here in the NE US. A lot of Portuguese and Vietnamese people are infamous for poaching them. They don’t play the don’t know English game, but rather “I don’t give a fuggg” game.
@webmoss My friend in Australia said the Vietnamese and the Muslims do the same there. The game wardens there have all the regs in their languages. So they give them a copy and fine them accordingly. The FWC officers have the same issues with the Cubans. I saw a video where a Cuban got massive fines for all the stuff he had. Plus, they took his gear and car. They need to include multiple year and lifetime fishing bans for those who do this more than once. They have to learn that it's not ok. but they likely wont, every time the fishery officers snag one they get a free boat.
it's good to see the fines being given , but I feel the fines are too small and in fact they are a joke .
It's so upsetting to see people have such little respect for nature and the destruction of it.
We agree 😭
Take there boat!

Those jokers need to be arrested. The laws are to soft on those poachers.

ridiculously minimal fines. You can keep the yacht for 12 months at a cost of $120 per week in storage.

Snapper favourite fish 🐟🐟🐟 very hard to find in Australia now north NSW

Fisheries should be able to take them home to their families and not waste any food 🐟

Absolutely correct. All fishers should follow the rules to ensure the preservation of a healthy marine life. 🙏

increase amount of the fine to $500 PER FISH, take the boat, all fishing equipment, banned for so many years cannot fish,
