Okay. Video’s out. Before I subject myself to that for which I’ve been waiting for one month short of a year, I want to say this. CDTV’s videos were in the chaotic crossfire of a part of my life about which I think nearly every single day. Late 2018 to 2019, I was fully sucked into the rabbit hole that was and is underground/independent internet rap. Your Quadecas, your Crypts, your Scrus, your Daxes, your Vin Jays and CHVSEs, your Mac Lethals, etc. Legends rose and fell, and the magic of what came about there (some of which I think was lost later on, but that’s besides the point) was at an all-time high. I say this because Tom MacDonald kinda got… roped into that? I mean, he’s always like “i’M nOt A yOuTuBe RaPpEr” which is like, hilarious in hindsight, right? Point is, at the tail-end of 2019, CDTV’s Ghostories video was a perspective-shifting experience. Like, finally! Someone saw what I saw! Someone said what I’d been thinking! And I’m glad it was CDTV; I always liked the guy. So when the word got out he was reviewing the 2020 double-release, I freaked. Flowers for the Dead? That video was dope. And then the Gravestones video just kinda… didn’t come. And that was a very weird feeling. Like only a few other rogue commenters and I cared, like it was a lost cause. Honestly I was probably the guy who was pushing for the Gravestones video the most out of anyone during that era of radio-silence. And I don’t blame CDTV for that either; I listened to the whole album when someone reuploaded it, and holy shit is it awful. It must take a lot out of a person to get a video like this done. But when he made that Whiteboy Trilogy announcement, that magic feeling came back in full force. And now here we are. Standing at the cemetery gates. Thank you, CDTV. For following through. Broooooooo! I friggin sneezed at the slanderous and inaccurate production. Friggin Quadeca had me dying...I accidentally skipped around the vid and it cut to where Quad said he's done with it LMAO. Now I don't like Tom McDonald, I pretty much think he's wack even with the problematic stuff aside. But I do like how you gave him a chance and whatnot this vid was enjoyable as the rest of yours be. Def a magnus opus contender!
In terms of his lyrical content, I’d agree. I feel like Tom could be a decent rapper if he would stop going completely political and trying to be controversial and hated. He isn’t talentless, but he only cares about being polarizing and it kills his musical quality.
Absolutely not. His content may suck ass and his hooks are trash, but he’s a very capable rapper with some neat flows and can work well if he has some good production behind him. That said, he still sucks.
@Dante NF may be one of the most bland rappers alive, but at least he makes an attempt to make music that actually means something, other than Mr. Whiteboy who raps about shit he doesn’t genuinely believe in.
It's sad cause if Tom put his time and effort to make an album filled with songs like Spaceman or I Wish or even Dreams it probably would be decent. He can make good music he just chooses the "look how edgy I am" stance instead
Tom doesn't believe what he's saying. The "Let Me In," shirt he wears is a wrestling shirt for Bray Wyatt/The Fiend. His character is basically an evil Mr. Rogers, and was initially thought of as a way for Bray to showcase his interest in the occult/illuminati conspiracy theories. If Tom actually believed what he was saying, he would be revolted by both the character of the Fiend, and Bray Wyatt's fascination with these topics in general.
Personally, I think he does believe in *some* of the stuff he says, but the more conspiratorial InfoWars core tracks he definitely doesn't believe. He has a whole video about his htoughts on conspiracy theories, and his response is very vague and strange.
I see so many people saying that your videos have gotten them through a lot.. and damn man I started watching you and Weasle around the same time. The content you guys create are so different but seeing the channels grow and how great these videos have been.. it just makes me happy as hell. I started watching this channel when I was at a hard point in my life and your jokes, destroying the trap rap genre back in the day, got me through a lot of shit. I love the new content man. So happy I’m at a better point in life too, it just makes everything much sweeter while I wait for your drops lol
So in track 9 he talks about how exploitative the music industry is to rappers (which is true), but then in track 10… blames the rappers for the music they create… ignoring what pressure and marketing they may get from the label to keep up a certain persona. Its like hes so close to getting it, but hes so far.
i like how he says blame other rappers for boys objectifying women but then talks about why abortion is wrong you cant say one second you dont think women are objects then the next tell women what they can and cant do
It's very interesting that ppl say Tom is pro-life or pro-choice when he never clarifies one way or another in his music. When he brings things up such as abortion he always talks about double standards or how hypocritical people are in society when it comes to a subject. I personally think that women are objectified in a lot of rap videos and songs but we cannot place blame only on male artists as a woman can choose if she is comfortable with her part. We see just as many female artist dressing provocative and twerking in their own music videos when they have more talent than they realize and don't need that for attention. Whether we like it or not kids look up to these rich and famous artists and even if the artist doesn't want the job of being a role model it doesn't change the fact that they are and that isn't necessarily fair but goes with the territory and large bank accounts. It really does set a horrible example for young kids watching. Some artist say they don't allow their children to see their performances but many kids don't have a responsible adult in their lives to regulate it for them. I think we all need to be more conscientious of any example we are setting for children on a daily basis. Our children are the future and it's easy to forget when our lives get busy and crazy.
@@19holly19 its not any artist or anyone else job to censor themselves for children when they state their music or art isnt for children its simple thats the parents fault
oh I forgot to say this and now it may be too late for him to see this, but I've been following since the fastest Eminem verses video when my taste in music was incredibly narrow-minded. Since then, I not only listen to hip-hop but have branched out to many experimental artists who actually have depth and aren't just rapping fast. Although I would like to say I wouldn't have fallen for Tom Macdonald's bullshit, I honestly can't be sure. You made me realize that mainstream hip-hop shouldn't be labelled as entirely trash. While there are some boring artists, you opened my eyes to some genuinely really talented people like Ski Mask and Denzel (which is funny because I absolutely would have fucked with what he was saying) who are now mainstays on my playlists. Thanks for helping me open my eyes to the more mainstream side of music. I used to be so fucking cringe and looking back on it hurts I will admit. I definitely know you went through basically the same transition as I did, and I definitely related to a lot of what you were saying. Joyner Lucas sucks, Logic sucks, Tech is just okay. Those are things I would have gotten so mad at in the past that I now do agree with. "Lyrical miracle" rap is like a cult and I am grateful to have escaped it.
@@CDTVProductions No problem, we can never grow intellectually if we can't talk about issues with an open mind. I didn't fully agree with your every point but you convey your thoughts well. Much respect man.

I've been liking his latest singles recently, but I have to agree, I remember listening to "America" and feeling like he was saying nothing new whatsoever. He's gotten very very repetitive with those tracks.
@@thegreatandpowerfuldc5977 Tom had pigeonholed himself. Without pandering to his fanbase of edgy 4channers he has nothing. Nobody had any clue who dude was until he dropped White Boy.
If he stops making tracks like America, he may as well stop making music.
His whole discography can be summed up as "I'm white, lyrical miracle spiritual individual criminal subliminal syllables government bad"
Is that Quadeca in front of the Hivemind wall? Lmao
yessir, an amazing backdrop
I love how CDTV makes bad things sooooo enjoyable, if you aren't experiencing bad music through CDTV, you need to change that!!!
I am Canadian. I did not know Tom is Canadian. I am no longer Canadian.
Hahahaha, I like that
That’s just really stupid I don’t like half the people in America but that doesn’t mean I’m not American. I don’t hate all Canadians because you said something stupid I don’t automatically assume that all Canadians are stupid.
@@michellefarley7319 it was a joke...
How much you wanna bet he’s gonna name his next album “TOM MACDONALD MUST BE STOPPED”
"UA-cam striker "
Tom thinks he's Filthy Frank but he's more like 6ix9ine
Friggin
Tom used the wrong “its” in his email LOL

yuh i feel like everybody can agree that tom mcdonalds is the WROST rapper to ever live 💀
@@AnyThingWorx Totally agree

@Dante NF may be one of the most bland rappers alive, but at least he makes an attempt to make music that actually means something, other than Mr. Whiteboy who raps about shit he doesn’t genuinely believe in.
It's sad cause if Tom put his time and effort to make an album filled with songs like Spaceman or I Wish or even Dreams it probably would be decent. He can make good music he just chooses the "look how edgy I am" stance instead
He makes glorified juggalo music, it was never going to be good
The long awaited gravestones review is finally here let's goooooo
In my 5 years of CDTV viewership, this has to be the most anticipated video
Nice review, the only dude who critiques the albumn and not just the artist. He's a cool guy.
Found you in 2017 and still can’t believe you don’t have 1m+ subs. So glad to see this review arrive. Best of luck to you man!
because hes mediocre. Thats why.
Because his reviews are total garbage and his political opinion is uneducated and silly. Get woke, go broke.
I’ve been waiting WEEKS FOR THIS!
before hearing weirdos: I like nova so maybe this'll be one of the good tracks on the album
hearing weirdos: Oh no, no Nova what are you doing
Literally my exact reaction when listening to this track. Super disappointed.
Yeah. I’d actually respect Tom _more_ if he wasn’t such a weaselly, spineless grifter.
A Bray Wyatt/The Fiend match would be better than a Tom Macdonald song
@@thebighomie51-999 Yeah, let's get that Eldrich horror meets The Wiggles mixtape, bray!
@@checkeredslime9478 nah do what Mr Rogers Bray Wyatt did, Do the muscle man dance
I loved Quadeca's face when you read some obviously trash bars but he had to pretend to be a huge Macdonald fan still. Lol
Not even half way through the review and honestly, this was worth the wait
i see what you did “burning my designer”, “now to move back to a LIGHTER topic”
BARS
Shit, with bars like this we need IAMJAYCE to drop. Aoty material for sure
Nah but in all seriousness i kinda want to hear more tracks from him
this video’s wait has been even harder than your WRITG vid for Gunna
went from submissive and breedable to slanderous and inaccurate real quick
So in track 9 he talks about how exploitative the music industry is to rappers (which is true), but then in track 10… blames the rappers for the music they create… ignoring what pressure and marketing they may get from the label to keep up a certain persona. Its like hes so close to getting it, but hes so far.
Its all about Tom, don't you get it?
i like how he says blame other rappers for boys objectifying women but then talks about why abortion is wrong you cant say one second you dont think women are objects then the next tell women what they can and cant do
he doesnt talk about why abortion is wrong, he tried to keep it non-political
@@tieganlambert9972 you think tom macdonald keeps his songs unpolitical
Fr man like I’m not one to tell a woman what to do with her body, this cornball just likes to pander to neo nazi racist conservatives
That contestant during the game show bit must feel special sitting in front of the great Hivemind wall
oh I forgot to say this and now it may be too late for him to see this, but I've been following since the fastest Eminem verses video when my taste in music was incredibly narrow-minded.
Joyner has some good tracks, and logic has 2 great albums. Tech isnt good

CDTVThaGoat dropping the Donda of UA-cam videos when it comes to hype. I like how when Tom says something socially conservative and shitty, you don’t change the whole vibe of the review to get on your soapbox and give a whole moral speech that anybody with any empathy agrees with and has heard a million times. We love an hour long video that doesn’t waste time.
Is 3rd Verse Breakdown gonna be CDTV’s equivalent of Blacky’s Panda Effect for a term coined for one that already exists?

That bar was better of this album, Ghostories and The Big Day combined
