Congratulations on 300+ subscribers! On to 400! Ernie Banks is my favorite baseball player of all time! He was a bridge player as well! Unfortunately, he was in the Hall of Fame! I guess it will have to be Lou Johnson who was in your bridge box twice!⚾
Sweet Lou! He had some really huge moments, one in particular was in the '65 World Series for the Dodgers. Banks was big in my family too as we have family from the Chicago area. Thanks for dropping in! and stay tuned!
Great stuff buddy. That Cuban issue is really cool. Great image of Hector on the Bowman. One of the pirates bridge players that first came to mind was Don Clendenon!
My favorite non-HOF bridge player is Don Newcombe. A New Jersey native (I love Jersey boys) he started with the Newark Eagles with Irvin and Doby, winning the WS in 46. Of course he went on to a great MLB career, but after he he retired he recruited Larry Doby to go to Japan and become the first ex-MLB players ever to play in Japanese professional ball in 1960’s. Newk was an international bridge player/builder!!
Yes! I've seen a few press pics of him with the Dragons, and I've looked for a card (to no avail). I too am a huge Newcombe fan. Love it! Thanks for coming by!
Yes, the COMC crumple 🤣 Love the Woods from Remar, I’ll have to try to track one of those down. Beautiful Caramelo Deportivo card 🤩 That Bridge Box 🤯 My favorite non-HOF bridge player might be Charlie Peete, because I’m fascinated by his tragic story and overall lack of cards. Huge congrats on 300 pal, very deserved. 👊
Whenever I see cards from the 40s and 50s that are still around and in good shape, it makes me realize how odd it is that there are buildings and cars built in that time that aren't around anymore. But some cardboard is.
Heya Jon! What's cool is some of these guys played up in Canada! The Toronto Maple Leafs (baseball) and the Montreal Royals were highly influential teams in the International League, and so many great players and stories involve those teams. It's super cool! Thanks for coming by, and stay tuned!
Great video Peeps! Elston Howard and Jose Santiago because they are the only 2 that I remember watching on TV. Santiago because of the 1967 World Series starting against Bob Gibson. Sent an email about the show too
@@PeepsWaxPacks Thans Josh! I plan on going to the club show at the Bloomington Armory this Saturday. There is another show in Golden Valley at a church. Both are good.
The '53 Bowman of Hector is fantastic. Whenever I hear something like, they only had one HR, I always wonder if they were able to get that ball back. The "COMC crinkle" made me chuckle. I feel like the bridge players and those in the Negro league that weren't able to make that transition due to an assortment of reasons, doesn't get enough attention. Sure, we all know about Gobson, Mays and Paige, but there were so many other amazing ballplayers who are all, but forgotten. With so many unique stories and journeys, it would be hard to pick a favorite. I have a special admiration for those ballplayers who put everything on hold to go serve in WWII and were somehow able to make it back and pick up the pieces after the horrors of war. Dan Bankhead was one such player. He played on the Dodgers not long after Jackie broke the color barrier (I'm a Brooklyn Dodger fan). I don't think he has the stats to get into the Hall, but certainly faced more than his fair share of challeneges.
Yes! Dan Bankhead is such a great shout! Love that one! I've been in this rabbit hole of incredible stories for a while, and I just love that folks are sharing their thoughts here. it's really just the best! Thanks for dropping in, as always. Looking forward to the giveaway. ❤
Very cool Remar cards! I wasn't familiar with those but am now reading up on the set as well as the company because of your video. Thanks for sharing! My favorite non-HOFer is Elston Howard.
Congratulations on passing 300 plus subscribers. I will be doing more shoutouts to help you.. great haul and video my friend.. shoeless Joe Jackson , Ichiro, pujols , buster posey, cabrera , don mattingly , don clendenon , McGwire. So many
Congrats on over 300 subscribers, very well deserved! Really nice pickups, some beautiful cards! Not to well versed on the bridge players so will pass on the giveaway. Thanks for sharing and have a great week ahead!
Thanks for coming through, as always! I posted a few super direct links if you change your mind. Thanks again for your great comments and continuing support!
Congrats on the big milestone Josh! Well deserved! You should be at 1000 dude! Always learn something new when I watch. Whilst I enjoy seeing the cards, I'm not the biggest baseball guy so will bypass an entry so the cards go to someone who will truly appreciate them! Bring on 400!
Congratulations on 300 subscribers! I think I'll go with Fernando Valenzuela. He helped to bring the Hispanic community into becoming Dodgers fans after the debacle of the city of Los Angeles demolished homes ro build Dodgers stadium. He was also the Rookie of the Year and Cy Young winner for the Dodgers, but isn't in the Hall of Fame.
Oh man, Fernando Mania was so awesome! Great call! What an important guy! Thanks for the support! Consider yourself entered! Appreciate you coming by 💯
Congrats for the 300, for Sparta! Wait wrong type of 300. Great examples of the players on the cards. Like the tidbits of information that came with each
Gave a video like. Great COMC pick-ups! I would say my favorite bridge player who is not a HOFer would be Don Newcombe. I like to read books on the Brooklyn Dodgers and he was their ace. Hope you have a great weekend
Congratulations for reaching 300 subs. I like how you used the term, "non HOFers" instead of the word "common." :o) I did a video on George Shuba some time back. I consider him a bridge player to a degree because of his simple handshake with Jackie Robinson. Jackie had hit his first HR in the minors and his teammates would not shake his hand with the exception of George "Shotgun" Shuba. That "Handshake" has memorialized with a statue in Youngstown, OH. I think gestures of this nature help bridge society together.
Thanks, Drew! And YES, what a great call that is. Shotgun Shuba! That is the perfect example of what I'm talking about, AND he has some great cards! Really appreciate the support, buddy!

Don! Man did he have some big moments or what?! Awesome player.
Nice stuff bud 👍 Thanks for sharing. Have a good week bro!
Keep grinding! 👊 😎

Congrats on 300 subs, Josh!!! Nice additions to left field.
Junior Gilliam is my favorite bridge player. He definitely deserves to be a Hall of Famer
Thanks Joe! I'm a big fan of Junior!

Thanks man! Thanks to you I have a Charlie Peete card! The friendship and support is second to none, pal. Appreciate you!

Ha! I never thought about that! Thanks for coming through, Zach! I always appreciate you! 💯
I don't know many Bridge players but I've heard of Charlie Peete. Congrats on 300 well deserved. Great left field cards

Santiago is a great shout, Scott! Thanks for the email, and can't wait to finally connect at a show one of these days.

What a find with Parnell Woods! The COMC crumple is reallll. Great stuff Peeps.
I love learning about these "ghosts." Thanks for dropping in, Mookie!
Congrats on 300. Always been a fan of Post cards. The Rodriguez card is awesome. Wonderful addition to your collection.
Thanks! Yeah I've always liked those Post design too for one reason or another. Simple, and instantly recognizable!
Really awesome inspired pick up Josh !! Love that bridge box and my pick is Luke Easter 👊 🤙🤙
Luscious! What a bomber that dude was. Thanks for your support, as always!
