I think I agree with most of your picks with a few exceptions; with such a notable injury list at the back, you can't afford to be short of defenders this tournament. We've got a solid upfront with much less injuries, so I would drop an extra forward to take an extra defender. Unfortunately that would be Jarrod Bowen. In easy games he has still insisted on playing Walker/Stones/Maguire and Shaw or Chilwell....it is naivety on his part imo, when you have such a huge pool of players to choose from, giving new players game time is equally as important as more caps for senior players. Would still have liked to see Harvey Elliot in this squad, sad to see Southgate snub him yet again. So apparently, there's a clear path for players who come through the England youth system into the first team - unless your name is Harvey Elliot.
The lack of quality, in the defender pool, is exactly why England shouldn't have a defence/pragmatic Southgate in charge. Southgate is going to be playing the likes of Trippier, Maguire, Gallagher or Mainoo, just to play a defensive 4 2 3 1 system. It makes absolutely no sense. The opposition manager/players/fans are all rubbing their hands seeing the likes of TAA/Grealish/Palmer on the bench and Trippier/Maguire/Mainoo/Gallagher on the pitch.
I'm not a chelsea fan but i'd say start palmer over saka. Don't forget its a tournament you want the player who are the hottest atm, for cole cold but you get what i mean😂 he is full of confidence right know and is and x factor player. I don't think saka after bottling another PL and the amount of injuries he has had will be able to be an x factor
id swap Maddison for Grealish ibr, Maddison is the direct back up for Jude and we already have 4 options for LW (Foden, Gordon, Grealish, Eze) so id axe Grealish
As a Milan fan, I sort of understand why Tomori doesn't get the call but even at the friendlies ? Issue is that if he were in the premier league with his performances, he would be in the squad. The manager doesn't know other leagues exist. He even get a call when he was defender of the season 2 years ago...
As a Liverpool fan I love Quansah so much, but I feel that he needs a few more years before he starts playing in proper international tournaments. But he is the future of the England backline.
@@BazKepple They’re 2 different profiles lol. England don’t need more creative midfielders, they need more defensive/well rounded midfielders. Elliot is great in attack but that’s it, he’s not good enough defensively and he won’t get ahead of Saka, Foden or Palmer for his position.
@@LordHighness Elliot is literally a Palmer replica, he’s a right winger (played there for Fulham) that likes to drift into the 10 just like Palmer. If Palmer doesn’t get in then neither does elliot cause there’s 10’s and right wingers better than him. It’s really that simple, not sure what’s so hard to understand about that. Elliot lacks defensive awareness, Mainoo at least has some awareness and discipline cause again, they’re 2 completely different players. He doesn’t get in the 8 position either cause there’s Jude, Madders, and Foden… he’s also quite lightweight. I like Elliot but he’s not there yet.
The linkup on the right side with Walker, Trent in the pivot and Saka on the wing was crazy in the friendlies last summer. Southgate digging his own grave if Gallagher or Mainoo starts in the pivot next to rice instead of Trent
I wouldn't say so to be honest Trent offers a skill set very similar to what Rice does in that he's mainly a long passer of the ball, both have excellent technique in the pass and I'll give them that; but Mainoo offers something completely unique to this team, I'd say he's one of only a handful of players worldwide with the sort of press resistance he's got and the only one in England with that level of composure and dribbling ability who can play so deep - impossible to win the ball off him but he doesn't progress the ball as well as Trent I'd argue it really depends on what England needs in a given tactical battle
The fact is, England have the highest scoring winger in premier league history if you exclude penalties, the second highest scorer for England of the players today, the highest assist provider, the player who almost single handedly dragged England to their first final in over half a century, the most reliable England player in high stake competition games, and so clearly most dangerous attacker in English football today not in the squad let alone the team. The idea any team can succeed to win a competition without a player that can deliver so much reliably to their game and be so influential to a teams success whether the rest of the team do not perform so well or not is called wishful thinking. We've seen Southgate take risks in finals and failed at every turn. He is unable to make constructive risks and is strongest when he uses common sense. Common sense would tell you Jude Belligham has excelled partnering Vinicias Junior at Real Madrid winning the Spanish League and in the final of the Champions League which should be amazing for England as England have a similar player to Vinicias Junior in the name of Raheem Sterling in the England team meaning they can understand each other very quickly and form an equally powerful partnership for the England attack. This is common sense. But what does he do? He takes Sterling out of the team depriving England of that obvious lethal attacking partnership. Common sense would tell you that with England getting to a final with Sterling as the driving force giving defenders nightmares on one wing and Saka still developing on the other, when Saka finally develops as he has today and so much better than that final and able to give defenders nightmares like Sterling, England with these two wingers would be giving defenders sleepless nights on both wings and be even more lethal than when getting to that final, so you play them both again now as a bigger threat than before. This again is common sense. But no, Southgate has decided to not play Sterling and play a lesser threat that has achieved nothing, but some good games for an average club for one season and has no experience of high stakes competition, or an alternative that has played for England, but achieved nothing special when playing for England and is not even the first choice for his club team. It's astonishing stuff. As for Palmer, a player that has scored an average number of goals in open play scoring 10 penalties he will not take for England to push up his stats, but more importantly failed to make the Man City team and was then sold, because although he was known by Man City to score goals is too much of a defensive liability to have in a team that wants to win things or be a top team, why in the world would a manager with any sense ignore these facts and like a novice want to consider putting him in his team just because pundits, commentators and the media choose to ignore the obvious facts and claim the manager who sold him has made a mistake despite the fact this manager is winning everything under the sun. Palmer does not understand defense, does not participate in defensive responsibilities, does not know how to balance defensive and offensive responsibilities and has no interest in understanding or participating in defensive responsibilities at a time in football when all 11 players have offensive responsibilities and all 11 players have defensive responsibilities and the team least efficient at utilising all 11 players for these offensive and defensive objectives loses. That is modern football and what is understood by all the top teams in league and international football as necessary to win competitions or leagues. But Southgate obviously thinks he is the exception and wishful thinking will get him over the line. Without Raheem Sterling in the team, I predict England will be knocked out of the competition in the Quarter finals at these Euros as we saw proved when Sterling did not play in the last World Cup, mark my words, so I won't even bother watching the games managed by stupidity that makes no sense forced on the manager by pressure from the media. Wishful thinking gets you nowhere. Peace and love
Wait is it that in England if you don’t play there you don’t exist? Is Tomori and Sancho not good enough to make this 32 man roster. With all the injuries. Crazy
Too many good wingers for Sancho to get in tbh, he’s shown how good he can be in the CL but he’s not even been all that consistent in other competitions for Dortmund. Foden, Palmer and Saka have all been far better across the whole season and Gordon, Eze and Bowen have been excellent too, although Tomori should easily be making the squad over someone like Dunk.
@@snorrzz4970 Mainly because of the role he plays. I’d have Eze be the LW backup to Gordon (he’s played there consistently since his return), so Maddison would be the backup to Foden. Bowen is a third place role player. I’m not against him taking Maddison’s spot, but it’s more about what is needed to fill out the squad with balance.
From your list remove Quansah and Bowen and include Shaw and Maddison Surely if James and Chilwell are excluded why Shaw??? (I also would bring on Ben White insteed of Konsa but White wont play for England) Than i think Konsa is the best Option as a back up for Walker.
Sorry for Branthwaite and Guehi, they deserved that, but Tomori and Dier deserved a nominie in every single wolrd.
(Sorry for my english)
Trafford, Dunk, Guehi, Wharton, Grealish, Maddison, Toney
What difference has Grealish ever made for England LOOL?
Including Toney over Solanke is insane. Yet another example of Southgate’s ineptitude
What is waistcoats problem with Tomori? Has he ever heard or him
His problem is that Tomori just isn't that good
Year before last eze played every premier league game
I honestly don't get what Grealish offers this side, I'm not the biggest Gordon fan but I'd prefer him over Grealish
my name is harry and i support Liverpool and i think that Liverpool should win the premier leg
Maguire being the 3rd most scoring player from this list is killing me🤣🤣🤣
Maguire was good at Leicester though, he was actually good back then for club
11 defenders and no eric dyer ? wtf
Henderson should be the third choice imo
Southgate should cut Trafford, Dunk, Quansah, Shaw (fitness), Jones, Maddison, Toney
trafford
quansah
guehi
dunk
jones
eze
grealish
I like yiur picks
I'm not a chelsea fan but i'd say start palmer over saka. Don't forget its a tournament you want the player who are the hottest atm, for cole cold but you get what i mean😂 he is full of confidence right know and is and x factor player. I don't think saka after bottling another PL and the amount of injuries he has had will be able to be an x factor
id swap Maddison for Grealish ibr, Maddison is the direct back up for Jude and we already have 4 options for LW (Foden, Gordon, Grealish, Eze) so id axe Grealish
Interesting - don’t really see Madders play wide left ever for his club
As a Milan fan, I sort of understand why Tomori doesn't get the call but even at the friendlies ? Issue is that if he were in the premier league with his performances, he would be in the squad. The manager doesn't know other leagues exist. He even get a call when he was defender of the season 2 years ago...
Which is weird. He can send one his scouts to watch him in Italy. (He should also be scouting dual nationals in seria a..)
Is he not injured
I know.. it's sad to see him not involved.
@@leedscity6881 not at the moment but still the absence is very sad
fik cant defend headers to save his life. even bang average calcio attackers like djuric bully him every time.
As a Liverpool fan I love Quansah so much, but I feel that he needs a few more years before he starts playing in proper international tournaments. But he is the future of the England backline.
Yeah totally agree.
Him and big jarrad at the back, quality that
I think he's been brought into this for exposure in a full national setup. He won't go to the Euros and that's fine, it's good experience nonetheless.

The fact that there is no Tyrick Mitchell with Englands LB problems is crazy to me
Especially with the LB problems!
As a Liverpool fan I’d also take Wharton over Jones.
Your not a little puzzled on why he picked jones over Elliott
@@BazKepple They’re 2 different profiles lol. England don’t need more creative midfielders, they need more defensive/well rounded midfielders. Elliot is great in attack but that’s it, he’s not good enough defensively and he won’t get ahead of Saka, Foden or Palmer for his position.
@@BazKepplethere’s so much competition in Elliot’s position, he’s not a pure b2b midfielder.
@BazKepple Elliot has problem that there many players who are head of him, Palmer, Bellingham, Foden
Thanks so much for the content Joe. It is greatly appreciated. Thanks for everything you do ❤
The linkup on the right side with Walker, Trent in the pivot and Saka on the wing was crazy in the friendlies last summer. Southgate digging his own grave if Gallagher or Mainoo starts in the pivot next to rice instead of Trent
"Pivot"
I wouldn't say so to be honest
Trent offers a skill set very similar to what Rice does in that he's mainly a long passer of the ball, both have excellent technique in the pass and I'll give them that; but Mainoo offers something completely unique to this team, I'd say he's one of only a handful of players worldwide with the sort of press resistance he's got and the only one in England with that level of composure and dribbling ability who can play so deep - impossible to win the ball off him but he doesn't progress the ball as well as Trent
I'd argue it really depends on what England needs in a given tactical battle

@@Ebamber3Agreed
Jordan Pickford has not been better for England than Everton. How many times do Everton fans have to say that.
Sancho is not better than the wingers being taken.
The seven names: Ramsdale, Quansah, Dunk, Jones, Bowen, Grealish, Toney
Bowen!!! Surely done enough...
@@joethomlinson_ Are you gonna play him ahead of either Saka or Palmer?
I don’t think anyone would, and we need more depth in other areas.
@@J_Tevo For that same reason why would your take Maddison he wont be going i gurantee it

I’d have Eze be the LW backup to Gordon (he’s played there consistently since his return), so Maddison would be the backup to Foden.
Bowen is a third place role player. I’m not against him taking Maddison’s spot, but it’s more about what is needed to fill out the squad with balance.
From your list remove Quansah and Bowen and include Shaw and Maddison
Surely if James and Chilwell are excluded why Shaw???
