you and Istanbul are very beautiful...
Haha, thank you 😅👍
Thanks for such a wonderful city guide - it brought back memories from a trip to Istanbul about 20 years ago and reminded me why I need to go back soon. It is such a fabulous city with a rich history to explore. One of my best memories is having a cup of apple tea on the almost deserted platform at Marmary station late at night, waching the Orient Express getting ready to leave - magical.
Wow, that sounds really like an awesome memory. Marmaray station is such a magical place 👍😊
Thank you, Im meeting my sister in Istanbul, this is the best video ive watched so far great work!
Thank you so much 🙏
Thank you for your nice video. Last week I was in Istanbul and ticket to Topkapi Palace was 650 TL to all places. Near Marmaray station (Orient express), Suleymann mosque and spice bazaar. I was in super hotel Petit Port. On Bosphorus was really holiday time. I wish come back and to see Camlica Camii as new and big and Grand Bazaar. Food breakfast was fantastic, also people. Istanbul is for me lovely city.
Thank you for sharing. I’m sure you had an amazing time in this beautiful city. So much to discover 👍

Fantastic video
Istanbul is definitely one of my favourite cities I have visited. With the exception of the Marmaray Railway Station, I did visit every tourist site on your list including the Bosphorus Cruise which we stopped at Dolmabahce Palace, Rumeli Fortress, then onto the Bosphorus Bridge to the Asian side and went to Camlica Hill and then to Camlica Mosque before we headed back to the European side. Rustem Pasha Mosque is close to the bazaars (and Spice Bazaar) hidden away which is worth a visit. I would also add Sultan Ayup Mosque and Pierre Lotti Cable Car. Tried the fish sandwich and had a proper Turkish breakfast in one of the restaurant close to Galata Bridge. Many of the sites like Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofia, Hippodrome, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and Gulhane Park are easily done in a day then you can go down to the bazaars, visit Rustem Pasha Mosque, go along the Galata Bridge and head to the top of Galata Tower about an hour before sunset. Sulemainye Mosque, Grand Bazaar and Theodesian Wall can be done in on another day
Thanks so much for the great additional tips! 👍😊
@Peterina Tuhakaraina Yes. I did cram a lot in for a short time I was there
@Peterina Tuhakaraina Hopefully you will visit there

Fantastic video ! A very beautiful city. Turkish food looks similar to Iran, with few leafy vegetables.
Yes Jennifer, stay tuned for my next video where I cover more on the food there 😊👍
Many neighboring countries have been affected by the Ottoman cuisine. Iran, Greek, and a lot of balkan countries borrowed many food from Turkish cuisine, but Irani used too much spiceses in their food like Indians. Iran also is affected from indian or pakistani food, or arabic food. Turkey cuisine is far from indian cuisine
Wow, one of your best videos yet. I love that I can now go back and check out your other videos on Turkey, for the items that interest me. A wonderful guide if I were to travel there. Thanks again.
Many thanks Liz! Stay tuned for some more videos on Istanbul where I cover some specific angles, like food, markets etc. 👍😊

Anything you buy in the Mısır Çarşısı (Spice Bazaar) will obviously be charged at tourist prices. Kuruyemiş (nuts and dried fruit) as well as tea and spices can be bought outside this bazaar at much lower prices. All larger supermarkets and specialty shops sell these goods.
I agree. The spice bazaar is worth a visit for the atmosphere and the beautiful building
💯 % True. I am surprised he hasn’t mentioned that in his video and kept recommending touristy places to eat at.
From my experience, the touristy places are all expensive: better shop where locals do and eat where locals eat.
💙
Thank you 😊

I watched several of your videos about Switzerland in readiness for a trip there but we've had to change our plans. We're now going to Turkey instead and whose videos do I stumble on when learning about Istanbul? Januslog. Thanks for the info
What a nice coincidence! Wishing you happy travels 👍😊
A nice guide but the part about the Asian side is too short. I wish it had included a tour of Kadıköy, especially its Moda district, Bağdat Avenue, Caddebostan and Üsküdar.
Thank you. I might do a separate video on the Asian side. There’s indeed more to see
I agree. The Asian side has so much to offer and is less crowded & less touristy.
Enjoyed you video and its beautiful ❤️❤️. I am planing next month and I just want to know how can I travel between all these places on public transport or any other means ...can you please help me ..Thank you .
Thank you very much. Most of the places are walking distance. For the rest, the best option is the metro but taxis are also very affordable. For the Asian side, there’s a metro too but the ferry boat is more fun.
Another fantastic video - beats the old lonely planet guides "hands down" . I am interested to know which area you stayed during your trip? - I have been to Istanbul several times around 20 years ago but I am planning on taking my family - including two teenage kids. I have previously stayed in sultanahmet due to its proximity to everything touristy (plus views of the bosphorus from the hotel rooftop cafes') but I am also looking to provide the family an authentic experience.
Also last time I was in Istanbul there was a major issue with the taxis ripping off tourists - has this been cleaned up? at all or is it safer just to use Uber ?
Thanks again
Thank you very much Mark, I really appreciate! I stayed at Sultanahmet and Beyoğlu. It may not be the most authentic experience as these are indeed the more historic and also touristy parts of town but I enjoyed the proximity to all the amazing sites and restaurants. Alternatively you could stay at the Asian side but you’d have to take the ferry boat or metro all the time. I didn’t have major issues with taxis but make sure to use the official (yellow) ones and that they turn on the meter 👍😊
Thanks and Yes I agree - Sultanahmet is very convenient
Very nice list. Where would you say is the best preserved section of the Constantinople walls? After watching so many videos, I find surprising there are not more ancient landmarks given the city's long and rich history. By ancient I mean pre ottoman era
The wall can be seen and visited almost throughout. In my view, it’s almost too “preserved”. It must have been restored to its original state quite a while ago. Maybe start with the big portals that are now gaps for the major through streets. For pre-Ottoman sights I’d also recommend the hippodrome and cisterns, and of course the Hagia Sofia.
@@januslog I have those on my list. Thanks. I was hoping to see more of that. Is there any section of the wall we are allowed to climb on and walk?
What about Dolmabache Palace?
The video music drowns your voice, no need for it!
Good informative video in all.
Thank you
Thank you 👍🌺
So true. It’s loud and unnecessary. I hope he can change the video to remove the music, so I can finish watching it .
Next year I'll be in turkey 🇹🇷 for a week tour. I'm planning on going in a few days early. How safe is istanbul for single woman and how easy is it to get around istanbul
Hi Misty, Istanbul is a pretty safe city and if you stick to the more touristy areas in the city center you should not have any problems whatsoever. Common sense safety precautions do however apply like in any larger city. Wishing you safe travels 👍😊
Did you travel to other cities in Turkey? Looking for experiences traveling to other cities on your own such as Capadocia, Pamukhale and others
Hi Alicia, on this trip I focused on Istanbul but plan to come back for other cities too. There’s so much to see in Türkiye 🇹🇷
I am in India i need to come Istanbul ❤️😭😭😭🥺🥺🥺
It’s an amazing city 👍🌺😊
@@januslog yes ofcourse 👯❤️
Do you use drone to capture?
Yes, I recorded all the footage in the video
لقيناه الفيديو ولا ما لقيناه؟!
Can you do all these places on a walking tour? How many days would it take?
Hi Jack, yes, that’s possible, although for the Asian side you will need to take a boat. I’d factor in a minimum of 3 days
@@januslog thank you so much Janus 🙏🙏🙏😄😄😄
Which hotel would you recommend?
I usually stay in RBnBs so don’t have any specific hotel recommendations. Also depends on what price category you are looking for. I’ve once stayed at the Hilton behind Taksim square which was very nice but a bit pricey
5:15
Are all these places within walking distance of each other? Where is the best place to have easy access to these sights? What is the best way to get to the Asian side for the day?
Thanks for watching. Most of the places are in walking distance, except Ortakoy and of course the Asian side. But it would be too difficult to do everything in one day. I’d split up into several days, spending a day on the Fatih side, another day in Karakoy and a day in the Asian side. If you have more time, that’s of course better. Ferries to the Asian side leave from Eminonu. There are also trains going.
@@januslog thank you so much for the reply…I think we will have about 4-5 days if everything works out…travel connections etc. we will be flying from Milos more than likely. Are there any hotels you could recommend that would be convenient to get to all these places? How far is the airport and do you know if there is bus transfer to hotels from airport? Have a nice day and again, thanks .
@@sharlahays tha airport is quite far from the center so I would take a taxi. Taxis in Istanbul are very reasonably priced.
I don’t have any specific recommendations for hotels. I stayed at several AirBnBs when I was there. You can find some really nice places in nice locations throughout the city.
