It may not be the best cover of this particular song I've ever heard (there is a lot of covers of this song), but most people aren't even attempting to play this and sing it at the same time. Respect to Warren. For real. Warren is an underrated guitarist and one of the people keeping the live music scene alive and well. He seems so humble too. The players he has with him are top tier and cover an unbelievably wide scope of music and styles. Always a great time, and if he's playing at a festival, it's gonna rock and have other great bands there too. It's always a good barometer of what's to come.
@@apolloptx I've listened to Zeppelin, a LOT. And I agree with Steve...mainly because of Warren's vocals...fits way better...Think Robert would approve.
Page and them British boys where really trying to find this real American sound we've never been invaded that's why I'm on my only USA summer mule lynard Allman and cry of love my ears need nothing else not even the FLOYD well maybe just a Gilmore solo didn't he defect to our side of the lake 🤔
they is not one player out there who can put more heart and soul into a song then master warren hayes ....thanks, Warren just keep playing and those out there that love real music will be there to listen....Thank you for playing all those years to get where you are !!!!
Total RESPECT to The Mule! Warren has more talent in his pinky toe than most modern "musicians" have period. If you close your eyes,...turn down the lights,...and simply listen...this GM cover of Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You" sounds like Jimmy Page setting in with the band....on Page's best day. Warren makes it look effortless. Awesome!
+inglishbulldog That is clearly a joke: he sounds so different from Page, it's just another style of playing the guitar... And nobody will ever be able to come close to the musical interaction between Plant and Page when LZ played live.
León Jiménez Not just Plant and Page. Bonzo and Page, Page and Jones, Jones and Bonzo. So many moments where they'd riff off each other and it was awesome. The connection when playing something like Achilles Last Stand...just too good.
His concerts are amazing! The musicians he brings are also the best. I witnessed them perform and go through every genre that exist except for maybe disco, rap and opera in one song! Most people don't even understand what they were doing!?
Give em hell Warren! You're always the closer in my opinion. If I could I'd live my life on MYLE tour. I hafta say I've seen Matt more times live than any other percussionist (always behind ya) followed by Bill K . THANKS AGAIN WARREN!!! Your older/but really younger brother.
I am a great fan from LZ, I think LZ is the one of the greatest band ever exist, but......What a great performance, more feeling that all the videos I saw from LZ with this song, GOOD
So glad he went out and on his own 🌹what a amazing talent with GOVOMENT MULE his own band❤️way to go Warren hynes 🌹❤️You are the Man🌹❤️🌹🎁🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️
I like this version better than the original. And this is played live... and sung and played by the same man... How could you possibly dislike mr Haynes? He's in the Olympus of rock, blues, folk and psychedelic music. Pretty much sitting on the top with a few others. Rory Gallagher comes to my mind as a fellow "whole-package" kind of musician. Great guitar playing, great singing, and most of all, great great songwriting
Warren's technique is always rock solid, not as often spectacular. His style is so appealing, he has a classic way with his licks. He plays everything well. Paige wrote and played studio better than he played live. Yes--I dare to say it. Listen closely to his technique---his live stuff was all over the place, often sloppy. He benefited hugely from being early, and from being able to write some great music, and great riffs.
You're spot on - Zep always had a reputation for producing great studio work, while their live shows weren't up to par. Still a great live band, but big difference between their studio work and live performances. The exception is when they were touring with Mike Lee on drums. I've watched the videos of them performing, and their live sets were fantastic.
I agree with one exception. Page's performance (and whole Led Zeppelin) of this song from Song Remanis the Same live wasn't sloppy and I dare to say it was better live, same for this song played during BBC sessions. Apart from that you are right about his live performance.
I'm an old LZ fan and I have to give him credit for playing lead and singing. That's difficult. The other great at lead guitarist and lead singer was Jimmy Hendricks.
I hope for the sound man's sake it wasn't the singer! Take my word for it, a singer spitting pizza into a mic windscreen makes for a nasty smelling mess! LMAO!!!
The Mule is best served covering Zepplin then Floyd. I feel Warren is more... more "bluesy" singing/playing. Gov't Mule rules.Top 10 Bands all time.. IMHO
To the clowns who think Warren is better than Page (I am a huge Warren fan...) you need to do a little homework - the song after all was written by Jimmy (the MASTER)! This is a terrific cover. Neither the guitar playing or singing does not even compare to the original. Zep rules.
No... he's better live than Page ever was. Page is a fantastic song writer, one of my favorites of all times. But no one, and I mean no one, beats Warren Heynes at live blues.
BOTH are great guitarists, but VERY different, even when playing the same song. Page was sloppy good, you felt he was on the edge of an epic fail every second, but he almost always pulled it off and you couldn't not listen or look away. Warren can play anything, seems always in control, smooth and good and channeling from somewhere much like SRV. Both are amazing and one of a kind.
Too bad we live in a world where appearance determines everything. Oh well, maybe the New Kids on the Block have put out another million selling hit song...
That's a joke Charlie mopps lol. Ever seen the song remains the same ? Page would kill him on that song live. Not even close. He plays well. But no Page. But hell who is ? Great effort.
Mongoloid Gorfbunnies, he is a FAR better blues guitarist than Massa Page. Something about Southern American boys and their timing? One thing I always thought, then Brits were better at their stuff, Kashmir, Lucy in the Sky etc. Bu what do i know - my two favorite blues gitters, SRV and Skydog, were white....
ShootStuff The song sounds like it could have been written just for her. I always thought Plant was imitating her style on it. I can only imagine how she would have sounded singing it - perhaps the only person in the world who could have sang it better than Plant at the time, if she had still been alive.
Wow singing and playing one of the most difficult blues rock song gives me the chills. Respect Mr. Warren.
It's not a contest it's one great player paying tribute to the master. No one covers more musical ground than Warren
Gary Moore was probably the best of em all at live playing... And playing in general. But yes, warren is pretty good as well.
@@emilventura3967 Gary Moore was almost Too Good,
You got that right!
You definitely hit the nail on the head with that one and it's not even like he's doing shity covers he's doing the best of the best I rest my case

Who can afford it anymore?
yeah man it's always good to take your kids around lots of weed and drugs and loud music

Warren being both Page and Plant.
Warren is so damn talented. One of the best blues rock musicians alive!
Pretty FN amazing
Can't forget about the bassist, keyboards and drummer! Lol
Except neither page nor plant are big fat slobs
RIP to Farmer. Warren's guitar tech who died in August 2014.
