Nice ride as always , can't go wrong with a Psalm or two or more when our own words fail us , thanks J.R.
Great video man. I've ran a small automotive shop for many years, and we do bikes and atv's on the side some. I like the AGM batteries the most so far. I think the lithium batteries are getting there and they definitely save weight. The bad thing about a lithium battery for me is when they die, they are done. They don't give too much warning and cold weather can kill one quick. Enjoyed this one! Glad you found a fellow rider to make the trip to the top of the mountain. Ready for the next one!
You’re an inspiration to us all. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Amazing!!!
You are an excellent motorcycle rider. Great report. I'm taking notes for maybe a future trip. Thank you so much.
hey JR your supposed to be slowing down man! just kidding thanks for the inspiring ride, your getting better every day. Great video.
You da man JR! I think I’ll pass on Cash Mtn! Glad you’re having a great time. Love the commentary. 👍
In previous episode I tried it solo with a full load and turned around. This time I was unloaded and it still was a bugger.
Beautiful scenery and ride JR. Lots of fun and peaceful. Watching your trips inspires me to come across from “Down Under in Sydney” to the US and explore the trails and sights you’ve visited. Still plenty of places in Australia I still need to visit but perhaps as a once in a lifetime trip!
It was bad luck with your battery. I still have the original Pb Acid battery in my 2018 DR650. Every three months, I remove and recharge using a smart charger to top up and it tests if the battery can hold charge. I figure I’ll replace with the same once it struggles or fails testing or regardless at 7 years.
Thank you for watching. I have met Aussies on the trails over here doing what you’re describing to do. I knew the battery was weak but thought it would last. Not too smart!
Hi JR
Great adventure and great scenery. Went for a little ride myself today and learned a lot about what I am not good at! (steep downhill and abs kicking in resulting in dropped bike). All good though, I learned and still had a great ride!
Thank you for watching. Very little experience with ABS and not off road at all. Every ride is a learning experience. That’s why it never gets old!
Loved it. Lookin' forward to your next video. It is fun "riding along" with you on your trip.
Glad you enjoyed it! I appreciate every comment and to know people are enjoying the ride-along. More to come.
Your ride up Cash Mountain looked like "fun" in the vernacular of us crazy old guys still taking our DR650s off the beaten path. Glad you had a companion for that part. I live in NW Illinois, cold county, and ride as much of the year as I can. I use AGM batteries because I have to trust my battery to start the bike at near or below freezing temperatures. The weight of our Bush Pigs is high enough that a few pounds of battery weight is negligible. Love your videos.
I rode alot of trail after installing this lead acid battery and I could not discern the added weight for my riding. The cold weather is an issue too. A proper DR650 can do a lot of stuff!
Geat climb on Cache Mountain young man. Pretty impressive. Safe travels Mr JR.🤟
My experience with Lithium has been good so far the weight of the lead batteries is just absurd . Great ride I just moved from Oregon to Arizona lived in Central Oregon Redmond area . Great riding in Oregon .""RIDE ON""
Good riding JR, 2013 is a good year for DR's your gray bull, Mikes, OBI-WAN's and mine ... it's what the cool kids ride I guess. That open pit at 5:50 is where I use to go shooting and riding, and yes there are logging trucks running those roads, ate at the same Subway in Sun River, it was nice to see the old places again. I've gone Lithium for the weight savings and power, in AZ not to concerned with the cold effecting the battery. The heat does the lead/acid batteries more than anything here. It was fun riding along. Thank you.
Good observations. What got me about the logging trucks was that I was way back up in the woods yet they were running up the dirt road all night. That surprised me.
@@jrdepewThat’s strange for sure, I wouldn’t expect them to be running at night either.
I have a Lithium om my Husky, and love it.
Must be at least 4 years old, maybe 5 +. Will try and buy a Lithium for my CRF250l.
JR, I am enjoying your videos as normal. I can't seem to find Ep 4 of the ORBDR series. did I miss something?
I am planning to ride the ORBDR next year and well as you know it is the time of year for watching videos and dreaming about next year. ;)
Looks like it got left out of the Playlist. Should be there now or go to my Channel content, jr depew.
Thanks for catching that!
LoL.. every BDR rider i came across this summer didn't even acknowledge my existence. Stood behind a group of 10 of them in line at Sisters coffee when i was in full riding gear and didn't even get a hello. Was in the parking lot at Olallie Lake Resort getting ready to leave and a group of 4 who parked 20 feet away from me wouldn't even look at me. Was at the Skylight Cave when a group of 12 came out, all rode right past me without a nod... Is there something about KLR's that offends people on KTMs?
Odd. My favorite thing out on these adventures is swapping tales with fellow riders.
They were all confused because it wasn't Starbucks and didn't know how to order a caff triple ristretto affogato venti, 2 pump mango 1 pump classic, 2%, mango to the second line, 3 scoops protein, 3 scoops berries, 2 scoop matcha, add banana, double blended, with whip, caramel drizzle, salted caramel topping, vanilla bean frappuccino.
Hi JR. How do you like the Forcefield Armored shirt? I always worry about European sizing being small and not true to size. What size do you wear?
Hi back, I've used it for two seasons and like it alot. Flows air very well but will tear if snagged while riding so a jersey over is important. I use a Medium an size is true. It stretches a good deal. I normaly wear a medium.
JR your a very savvy off-road senior rider! Well done! Gotta ride until you can’t. Keep up the good videos!
Thanks! Will do!
