How does the current flow through a wood to get to ground. I thought wood is a insulator

@@tedlahm5740 Yes, that is reason they manufacture different class of ppe. At certain potential an insulator could become conductor.

We were setting a pole under a 500kv line and we had to wear rubber gloves to handle the pole and the pole was never close to touching the line.
