Soviet biplane with jet engine

Few months after the first-ever flight of a jet powered plane in Germany, the Soviets achieved the first flight of a ramjet powered plane. The I-15bis DM-2 Indeed, this forgotten page of the History of aviation marked the first step in aviation of the most powerful kind of engine. If it had not as much resounding as the He-178, it is because its performances were not that impressive. Only 22km/h were added to its maximum speed? However, it was a such promising technology that its development even continued during the Second Word War despite Soviet ressources being extremely low and focused on what could immediately save the USSR from Germany. This technology will later gain in power to point of being the used by one the greatest technological achievement of one its developer but also of the whole Soviet Union, namely Sergueï Korolev who send the Communist flag into space! So is one of the key point of this astonishing adventure.

Yes, when I seen it for the first time I thought it was a joke but, at the moment I realized it was for a plane which really existed, I was not not surprised that a such thing could be constructed by the Soviets xD
