I think the Knicks won this trade based on KAT's spacing alone. Brunson can get buckets. Meanwhile Hart, Anunoby and Mikal can go to work on the defensive end.
As a twolves fan, Kat is pretty clumsy and makes stupid decisions. If he has developed from the last couple years then it’s worth it but Twolves got more depth and an extra pick. Him and Randle are practically the same with injuries but Randle has brought NY to the playoffs by himself compared to Kat. It’s a good trade but twolves win in this one.

KATS a good player. But a center? He’s not a great center and his best defensive year came once rudy got there and that was last year. This trade will depend on whether the team around JB shoots well. We lost a lot of offensive rebounders in clutch moments like Ihart, Randle and even Dvo was a good rebounder/ lose ball player when we needed it. Josh hart is the only one left. The Knicks needed those because as a team we couldn’t shoot at times, I think our team shooting got much better while our rebounding greatly suffered. So let’s hope for a much better shooting year
If you get the best player you won the trade. I think you would have to call KAT the best guy. Feels like a salary cap move by the wolves so they can keep Naz Reid who fits Ant’s timeline better.

Losing DiVincenzo is an emotional gut punch but logically speaking this trade makes sense. Randle refused a team friendly deal unlike Brunson who put the team first. Miles McBride is going to get more game time now and he is nothing to sneeze at. Dude has solid numbers. In hindsight, it is a good sign that the front office is able to make the necessary changes, especially this complex, to achieve a clear cut goal and have the team's needs met. I think the Knicks will end up a strong team from these changes.

Then two years later he just unfortunately was playing on a bad ankle. He didnt disappear and actually did well against Cleveland before aggravating his ankle. Then the next year the freak injury happened against Miami. I dont get this whole Randle always disappears in the playoffs when he's barely been there to prove himself.
Randle is that dude. They just have to utilize him correctly. He can create for himself and for his teammates. And he is a rebounding machine. I wish the Knicks hadn't made that trade. But it is what it is.
I like KAT, but would've preferred the Knicks had dealt Randle in the Bridges trade if possible and retained more draft capital. And then been able resigned Hartenstein. Then used a couple picks to help make the bench one player deeper with another decent backup center with a lower salary.

No NBA team has had to pay that high of a luxury tax because it’s just recently been implemented as part of the new CBA. The trade of KAT just reduces the tax from $100 million to approximately $80 million. Only the Boston Celtics will pay as high or higher of a luxury tax this season or EVER. Boston Celtics are being sold and the luxury tax has a lot to do with that decision. Wolves will be sold once they get done with the silly arbitration. Finally, being over the cap / second apron also takes away the mid level exception signing and impacts the draft,
Wolves have a history of trading away proven talent for chasing future talent and better contracts. Basically we like helping other teams win ships vs building off of our bonifide best players. Losing DiVincenzo is an emotional gut punch but logically speaking this trade makes sense. Randle refused a team friendly deal unlike Brunson who put the team first. Miles McBride is going to get more game time now and he is nothing to sneeze at. Dude has solid numbers. In hindsight, it is a good sign that the front office is able to make the necessary changes, especially this complex, to achieve a clear cut goal and have the team's needs met. I think the Knicks will end up a strong team from these changes.
Feels like the Trade was for opening Knicks Championship widow & Wolves shedding that giant KAT contract while still adding to their depth and maybe doesn't clog up the big man rotation. Helped both teams.

Then two years later he just unfortunately was playing on a bad ankle. He didnt disappear and actually did well against Cleveland before aggravating his ankle. Then the next year the freak injury happened against Miami. I dont get this whole Randle always disappears in the playoffs when he's barely been there to prove himself.
Randle is that dude. They just have to utilize him correctly. He can create for himself and for his teammates. And he is a rebounding machine. I wish the Knicks hadn't made that trade. But it is what it is.
I saw KAT in the WCF against Dallas Lively and Gafford was pushing him around guy soft.
I like KAT, but would've preferred the Knicks had dealt Randle in the Bridges trade if possible and retained more draft capital. And then been able resigned Hartenstein. Then used a couple picks to help make the bench one player deeper with another decent backup center with a lower salary.

In my opinion, kat isn’t a better fit than Randle. He doesn’t dominate in the paint like Randle does. We have no post offense with kat. He’s more of a shooter
Donte was a big loss imo he hit game winners but i get Randle alone could not get Kat . My issue with Randle was when we was losing sometimes he gets way to emotional walking back on defense cause they didnt call a foul . As for Big Kat i feel bad for him just cause he was just playing with a teammates they @espn is calling the next jordan and if he is the next jordan i want to be on his team not against him since we already came up together

With Randle, OG, and Brunson on the court together, the Knicks were 11-1 with wins over the TWolves, Denver, and Miami. Sure spacing is much better when you have KAT as a 3-pt sniper. But the Knicks just lost their only real inside post presence. This trade had to be influenced by the Julius Randle contract dispute. He probably wasn’t willing to take a paycut like Brunson & Bridges, especially after seeing OG get $225Ms

Not worth it with DDV you are getting a guy who goes super saiyan in the playoffs and in the clutch, good shooter and defender. Dude has a lot of experience in big moments and in the playoffs. Julius Randle is hands down a double double guy, an all star all nba team who can also shoot the 3s.

They're both just about the same age but Randle has better numbers than Towns overall. Randle is also more physical than Towns and an overall better defender than Towns. The Knicks also gave up depth here in the trade. I'm a Celtics fan but I'm also calling it how I see it.

Donte was going to play 12 mins a night with mikal here now, Randle isn’t even going to be ready for start of the season and his whole game is around physicality coming off a dislocated shoulder. Knicks got the better player in a position of need.

Supposed pundit experts like these guys always crack me up. It’s true, Minnesota has never had to pay a $100 million luxury tax in the past. No NBA team has had to pay that high of a luxury tax because it’s just recently been implemented as part of the new CBA. The trade of KAT just reduces the tax from $100 million to approximately $80 million. Only the Boston Celtics will pay as high or higher of a luxury tax this season or EVER. Boston Celtics are being sold and the luxury tax has a lot to do with that decision. Wolves will be sold once they get done with the silly arbitration. Finally, being over the cap / second apron also takes away the mid level exception signing and impacts the draft,
Wolves have a history of trading away proven talent for chasing future talent and better contracts. Basically we like helping other teams win ships vs building off of our bonifide best players. Knicks will win with Kat.
Wolves made the conference finals with Kat just coming off of a knee injury. We had tons of youth around them growing into their own. We should have given them another run at it before moving on from Kat. Or maybe make a ballsy move and get rid of Jaden or Naz next year. Lets face it, theres no guarantee that naz or Jaden get close to Kats level of consistency on offense. They panicked and traded Kat, who is bonifide top 4 or 5 at his position for 2 lesser talented players.
