Number 17 Yvon Duhamel was a hero of mine as youngster. Unfortunately he either won or crashed but sometimes like you experienced the bike went sour on one cylinder.
this, my friends is a REAL RACE BIKE !!!!!!! Not some old diesel plodding around. hear it !!!!! I can almost SMELL IT !!!!! more more more !!!! thankyou.
Mike the Spike was clearly taking it gently on this elderly killer. This is the racer most commonly described as "hinge-in-the-middle"; Kawasaki took longer than just about anybody else to figure out handling and suspension. This model at Daytona was a fierce fright. Mr. Otsuki, aka "Mr. Horsepower" designed the Mach III series - he came from a background as a jet engine designer. They had the beans but look out for the brakes and the handling. Scary.
I think the hinge in the middle stuff referred to the road bikes which were TOTALLY different. Refer to Mick Grant's comments about the Racers. He had no problem winning races on the Island with them and never criticized their handling.
Thank SO MUCH to the guys who take the trouble to make, and post, these videos. This is the closest I'll ever get to riding an H2R so KEEP 'EM COMING!
