      Hi Lewis, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Those comments mean a lot coming from you :) The radio performed better than I expected and it's a good all-rounder for the low price. With a few tweaks this could be a best seller.

      Hey Lewis
      This radio could be a game changer if you could AM, on the military air band. Along with extended frequency range to 500mhz.
      I do like radios with extended range, as I did start with radio with scanning/listening. Then moved onto amature radio.
      I have just bought one from Rugby Radio, and awaiting delivery,

    Hi, Just cam across your video again and noticed you say you can't setup a scan range between say 220-240 as an example but you can as in your demo mate you clicked on UHF not VHF if you watch it back 🙂 Not a major deal anyway as you do mention the lack of AM that high up but hopefully an update will in fact be released and fix this so we can get a bit of military action 👍

    Is this radio the same that the Radtel RT-620?

    • @Transmission1
      @Transmission1  10 місяців тому +1

      Yes, it is the same radio! It's a brilliant radio for the money and one of the better units coming out from China.

    If they do manage to release this with AM for reception between 230 and 400MHz I can see these selling out pretty quickly. That said it would be questionable how well the front end will operate outside of its true frequency of operation

      We'll just have to see if the firmware update is forthcoming. I've no experience of this manufacturer so will be very interesting. The firmware in my supplied unit is v1.18r dated Nov 2022 so it's fairly recent. I might get in touch with Rugby Radios and see if any progress is being made on this. They are not aware of my review... yet! I had the UV-6F attached to an external Diamond X300 antenna and it seemed to hold up quite well although I'm not near to any airports. I can hear the control on 126.775 MHz (London Control North Sea) under most conditions so this is a good test of sensitivity - it seemed to pass that test.

      @@Transmission1 Yes, it does indeed seem to hold its own. Nice, clear audio from your tests on the airband. You might call it a backup, nice feature to have but it seems impressive and the dual VFO's is welcome.

    You say you have used a standard Baofeng cable to program your radio, when I tried mine I couldn't get the software to read from the radio as it wasn't listed, did you have any issues setting up mate?

    • @Transmission1
      @Transmission1  Рік тому +1

      No, it all went fine! I've tried a standard baofeng cable and also one of those "8 in 1" USB cables with the different ends on them and both worked fine. Just make sure you've selected the correct com port in the software. You can work out which COM number your cable is using by going into the device manager in Windows and looking under "ports (com & lpt)", there should be at least one number in there. Try them all until you find the right one. Mine is usually on COM3 or COM4 depending on what's plugged in but they can literally be any number depending on how many devices you've had connected to your machine.

    • @stevekiel82
      @stevekiel82 Рік тому

      @@Transmission1 Cheers for the reply. I can see the COM port number (10 in this case) but when I plug the radio in I still get nothing! Might try another cable to rule that out before investigating further.

    Bought the Radtel RT-620 based on your review. I'm able to load their Radio Programming Software and connect to my Win 11 PC. Do you know a source that explains how to use the Radio Programming Software?

    Interesting radio. Is there a way to program it besides ining a computer ? Thanks for sharing this fantastic video.

    • @Transmission1
      @Transmission1  Рік тому

      Thank you. You can program the memories direct from the radio as the menu system is quite comprehensive. I'm not sure would want to program a lot of channels this way but you can make modifications to your existing channels easily - for example changing a CTCSS code or power level of each memory channel. It's a shame they didn't include Bluetooth as an option for managing memories via an app.

    Hi , after watching this review , I bought one from eBay , Rugby Radio , 2 problems , on all 3 contacts I’ve had on pmr 446, I was told my audio is very quiet , and secondly when I try to download program software from the rugby radio site, I end up doing circles , any ideas of any other place I could download it from ? I did try ringing rugby radios , on many occasions with no answer , and seems if you Google this particular radio , next to no info comes up,, thinking I made a bad choice buying this , cheers shane uk 🇬🇧

      Hi Shane, I can get you the software for this radio. Give me a few minutes and I'll pop a link on here that you can download it from. If you're looking for more info the Radtel RT-620 is the same radio - like a lot of the Chinese radios it's sold under a few different names just to confuse matters. Regarding your audio levels - I've had no such problems with the review model, in fact it's been one of the best for audio so you might want to check that for PMR 446 you're using narrow band FM modulation and not wide. I ditched the programmed memories that Rugby Radios sent the radio with as I found a few errors and just started again with my own codeplug.

    Is this better than Quangsheng k5?

    • @Transmission1
      @Transmission1  Рік тому

      Airband reception is 100% better on the AnyTalk UV-6F - if that's what you need then for this one. The Quansheng is much smaller/compact but they really are nothing like each other. Remember that this one doesn't charge using a phone charger - you need to use the desktop charger supplied in the box so that could be a bit of a pain...

    Looks good... I won't buy directly from China. I don't gamble. I didn't see it on US Amazon - yet. Been wanting something with GPS. Ive seen it branded as Abbree. Impressed with the sound quality and the power output. MilAir rx is a plus... Your evaluation was first rate.

      When we say directly from China, we mean through EBay. You don’t have to worry because EBay gives you the same guarantees as Amazon. The problem you encounter is the amount of time it takes to get through customs.

      I just ordered this radio under the brand of RADTEL RT-620. It should be here by the end of next week. The RT-620 receives and transmits up to 620 Mhz. I already have a pair of RADTEL RT-730's which also go up to 620Mhz... which I tried with a borrowed 700mhz antenna and it worked. Now if they'd just come out with a radio that includes 700, 800, and 900 mhz. I know those bands are totally useless to you guys in the UK. But here in the States we can still monitor Public Safety, and 902-928 mhz/33CM (analog & digital) is jointly allocated for amateur use. Right now the only way to make use of 33CM is to buy an expensive Motorola, Kenwood, or Harris and modify. IF... if one can afford a Thales it's already good to go😅
