      idiotic ending, when they had a ship and could go to Paris, New York whatever Elizabeth just knocks Booker out and runs. Like really? She could tie him or throw him out and fly to Paris but no. And after that one idiocy after another. Bad writing. Shit writing. I hate that ending because they could go live in Paris as father and daughter but instead she kills him and then stupidly dies in Burial at Sea herself. I hate that they didn't even react when they found out that they're father and daughter, they could spend some time together, but no. They just don't give a damn.
      she killed Booker, her father, so he couldn't become Comstock... but then they ruined this reason in BaS cause Comstock still lives there as Booker and she had to kill Comstock paying her own life as a price. Fckin awesome ending. I wish they never made Burial at Sea or at least beginning of 2nd part in Paris should be ending of 1st part without 2nd part shit.

      I would argue it’s about more generally, parental *figures* and children. While the stories do focus on fathers and daughters, you also have Andrew Ryan’s interactions with his “son” Jack, despite him never really being a father, with Tanenbaum acting as a bigger parental figure helping and leading Jack. Sophia Lamb and her interactions with Elenor show that blood doesn’t mean anything if you refuse to accept them as family, choosing her “father” Delta instead. I could go on but this is a long enough response on an old enough comment.

    People say that Bioshock 2 is the black sheep of the family. That the creators of the original series choose to ignore it because it wasn't their baby. I, however, feel like maybe the relationship between Booker and Elizabeth was at least somewhat inspired from Delta and Eleanor. A badass, gunslinging unstoppable force and a walking crime against nature that has been imprisoned all her life work together they dismantle the oppressive force that has wronged them in many ways, and no matter what, the unstoppable gunslinger dies in front of his daughter to ensure her future and the future of others who were wronged. Maybe it's all a coincidence, but I like to think that it's more like constants and variables.

      For the discarded wool can find purpose in another's spindle and vision. Its quality can only be admired by the few than can appreciate its quality and flaws. The relationship of a father and his daughter where its dependence and drive is dependent on its legacy's outcome based on its influence. Sure people can call it the worst game in simpler terms but its connection to players on an instinctual level on how it would influence her is what i find beautiful about 2.

      Fear not!
      Bioshock is a spiritual successor to System Shock. System Shock originally had 2 games in it (SS1 and SS2). System Shock 1 is currently being remade, and System Shock 3 is currently in production.
      Also, in 2017, the game "PREY" was released, which is pretty much System Shock 3 just with different name.
      So there are games to play, you just have to look for them.

    Has anyone noticed, with Sally singing in French, and her having that vision, was she her "France" she might have subconsciously been chasing all along? Since she's omnipotent, that might have been what was going on. Maybe she didn't exactly "see" it because, I don't know, her powers can't pinpoint her own death.

    • @Axl21
      @Axl21 8 років тому +13

      +Mikuman
      Her powers did pinpoint her own death. The Paris introduction sequence was meant to show that no matter what paradise she puts herself in, she will always be haunted by her decision to doom Sally when she decided to use Sally as a lure to kill the last Comstock. Elizabeth saw all the future's, and she knew the only future in which Sally could survive and be happy meant sacrificing herself and her godlike powers. In the end, that is what she chose.
      As for Sally knowing French, I don't know why she knows it. It's possible Elizabeth heard Sally sing the song with her omnipotent powers, and that's why the song stuck with Elizabeth.

    Voici les paroles/lyrics de La Vie en Rose pour ceux qui veulent :D
    "La Vie En Rose"
    Des yeux qui font baisser les miens
    Un rire qui se perd sur sa bouche
    Voilà le portrait sans retouches
    De l'homme auquel j'appartiens
    Quand il me prend dans ses bras
    Il me parle tout bas
    Je vois la vie en rose
    Il me dit des mots d'amour
    Des mots de tous les jours
    Et ça me fait quelque chose
    Il est entré dans mon cœur
    Une part de bonheur
    Dont je connais la cause
    C'est lui pour moi, moi pour lui, dans la vie
    Il me l'a dit, l'a juré, pour la vie
    Et dès que je l'aperçois
    Alors je sens en moi,
    Mon cœur qui bat
    Des nuits d'amour à plus finir
    Un grand bonheur qui prend sa place
    Les ennuis, les chagrins s'effacent
    Heureux, heureux à en mourir
    Quand il me prend dans ses bras
    Il me parle tout bas
    Je vois la vie en rose
    Il me dit des mots d'amour
    Des mots de tous les jours
    Et ça me fait quelque chose
    Il est entré dans mon cœur
    Une part de bonheur
    Dont je connais la cause
    C'est toi pour moi, moi pour toi, dans la vie
    Tu me l'as dit, l'as juré, pour la vie
    Et dès que je t'aperçois

    God dang, Bioshock has the best endings and plot twists. The first two endings were so sweet (if you saved the sisters that is) and then there is Infinite, killing everyone we know and love, brutally. This was a great ending, but geez. I forgot how awful Atlas was. Could there be a universe where Atlas didn't kill Elizabeth? A place where Booker and Elizabeth could live happily without anything bad happening to them?
    Now then, what the heck was that fake Paris about?

    • @olcopp
      @olcopp 9 років тому +2

      Elena Garcia well there will always be the universes where Booker never gave Anna away (granted it's not Elizabeth and would have grown up to be a different person. But Elizabeth and Anna will always technically be the same person) so Booker and Anna would always have their happiness, even though it's just not the same, it gives me a slight bit of happiness after all that happened it infinite/burial at sea.
      And the way I see fake Paris is that it was the universe Elizabeth went too when she felt guilty about using Sally to kill Comstock thus killing Sally, but even in that universe (whether it's an actual universe or just Elizabeth's imagination) the guilt overcame her and she had to go back.

    • @michaelowens7685
      @michaelowens7685 9 років тому

      +Elena Garcia * Spoiler alert* I'm pretty sure that this instance of Elizabeth was the last Elizabeth, as the Comstock killed, if I remember correctly was the last Comstock so Elizabeth is kinda doomed... Sorry for the bleak view but just a thought

      +Elena Garcia i'm just going to say i don't give a damn what really happened. While it was a great story, great DLC volume. I still wish I didn't play it just for how it ended. It was fine when she just disappeared at the end of Infinite. But for Elizabeth one of my favorite video game characters to go through all that hell only to be tortured and killed in the end even knowing her actions only changes the actions in some cases where Jack would save the little sisters just bugs me too much. I will accept that Elizabeth just randomly lived the rest of her days in Paris with a Puppy. I'll be stubborn and say screw anything that tries to convince me otherwise.

      TheGuavaberry vita- chambers are only programed to seek out Andrew Ryan's DNA signature. in Bioshock you find an audio log by Suchong that says Ryan ended up banning the use of Bathyspheres and vita chambers and had them coded to only accept his DNA (hence why Jack is the only one who can use them) in Bioshock 2 there's an audio log from Sinclare that mentions the same thing how the vita chambers were regulated by Ryan to only work for his inner circle but after the attack on New Year's day he had them coded to only seek out his DNA. Also in Burial at sea 2 you can look at a chalk board that says the same thing that the vita chambers are coded to Ryan's DNA only.

    • @XShadowzVarcolac
      @XShadowzVarcolac 5 років тому +2

      @@EpicLuigi24 doubt it, since the main frame for the commands to vita chambers all over rapture is in Ryan's office which also again only accepts Ryan's DNA. And considering the time the games are set in I doubt Atlas or anyone in that matter has a computer that rivals the hacking capabilities of modern computers. In fact the hacks don't even give the best results otherwise hacking vending machines would automatically make every item free instead of cheaper.
