Joy Division - Isolation | Reaction!

- This won't matter if you're watching at a later date, but happy December! I figured why not start off the month with one of my favourite bands to react to, Joy Division. For a track that's less than 3 minutes, it packs everything you know and love about the band.
Thanks for watching!

"Surrender to self-preservation
From others who care for themselves
A blindness that touches perfection
But hurts just like anything else"
I love this song.
The synths aren't thin. They are glacial. Apart from that, this is the best reaction to Joy Division ever. My deepest thanks, sir.
I think I read that they were thin, so then I said it like I knew what I was talking about. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@@InsignificantNick I picked up "glacial" from somewhere. Pobably ABBA. But I love pretending I know what I'm talking about concerning this band,'cos they mean the lot to me.
First gig I went to as a 16 year old in 1978,and jd were the first band on. Was standing no more than 5 yards from Ian Curtis going full tilt. It was something that has never left me 45 years later.
You're right about Peter Hook making the sound a lot of the time - it's taking the bass up an octave that makes Joy Division's sound unique. If you like this genre of music, can I suggest you listen to "Sensoria" by Cabaret Voltaire? Another great British band from the same era.
This whole album is amazing!
THATS MY TEENAGE DAYS!THANX FOR THAT SONG AND I SEE YOU LIKE IT TOO!
JOY DIVISION and New Order were a milestone for modern music!
We bad a great time!
Wonder,of you'd ever react to FRONT 242: QUITE UNUSUAL!
👍
This has been my favorite Joy Division song for almost 40 years - so happy to get a reaction video to it. Genuinely an underappreciated gem.
Irish band Therapy did a great version of this song. thanks for the show.
Therapy? Great band ! You should check them out
after all the lockdowns etc , this song takes on a new meaning
Lyrically it is about HIM I believe, Ian Curtis.
I agree!
Great music live band great music
I think the really upbeat tune levels the song out because the lyrics (as you would expect from Curtis) but ive always admired songs written in that kind of manner, it gives power and so much meaning to the type of song it is.
Please react to Heart and Soul!
Speaking of New Order, check out Love Vigilantes. Iron and Wine also did a great cover, it would be interesting for you to review/react to both back to back.
Check out the band "The Sound" especially the 2 albums - "From the Lions Mouth" and "Jeopardy " ,for me they're the best post punk band ever ,and sadly the Lead singer Adrian Borland succumb to the same fate as Ian Curtis.
I can't get into them despite loving JD, Smiths & even The Chameleons. I know Mark & Adrian were friends.
Side 2 🔥
unknown pleasures was a really good album, closer was brilliant, how good would they have been?
Just get up and dance! You know you want to.
Hey Nick, you're far from insignificant! Keep on keeping on! Best wishes, William. London.
Well, thank you very much!
I like this song and "Shadowplay". Could you play I C Water by Psychic TV? It is an ode to Ian Curtis.
Psychic TV also did an ode to Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, called ‘Godstar”.
@@jonathancole833 I know. I love that song. It'd be nice if he played that too.
I don’t think you have reacted to The Editors, their sound is similar to Joy Division but they have done some good music as well.
Some of the comments below. They were never about the production or how much better cover versions could be.
I'm trans. This song helped me. I'm ashamed of the person I am bit
You should never be ashamed of the person you are. ❤ The only shame is that others are unaccepting 😢 if you’re a music fan you might be interested in RVG who may share some of your struggles.
@stophdoggy6625 thanx for kind message. RVG I'll check them out 👍🏼
Listen to the song Candy Says by The Velvet Underground
@ezechielpequay5894 read the lyrics. They're interesting. Tune though like a lullaby. I'll listen when I can't sleep lol thanx though
DON'T BE STOP RIGHT NOW. We're all just doing the best we can you are beautiful.
I personally find the simplistic synth drum beats in this one almost painful in an otherwise good track. Perhaps that was intentional, but it is a skip for me (like the rest of the album more). Good background info as always 🙂
Therapy? version is better.
Joy Division's original is much blander in my opinion.
