I really hate to admit this, but I got a tonewood amp about five years ago and this whole time I haven’t been plugging it in right to my guitar!😕 I see you have yours in the input hole, so this is like a revelation to me! Wouldn’t you know it, my 12 string is in for a string change, but I sure can’t wait to get it back and use this thing the right way! And thanks for your beautiful playing illustrating the different sounds! It’s gonna be a whole different world from now on!🎸
Thanks for demoing it. Super helpful! Been on the fence about getting this for some time myself. I played a Yamaha fs that seems to have a similar feature, but I like the possibility that the tone wood could work between multiple guitars.
thanks friend. yes i think being able to put it on various guitars makes it way better in my opinion, hence i have just ordered my third brace so i can connect it to another guitar :) blessings.
Went to play with a brother last night and he gifted me one of these. Don't have a pickup but will remedy that soon. Thanks for the preview of what's to come.
understand a big magnet has to be placed inside the guitar to hold the Amp in place. My guitar is 2 1/4 inches deep. I dont think I could place the magnet inside(?) Could the Amp be attached to the back of the guitar using strips of Blu-Tack, please tell me? Simon Hebar
Hi amigo that could be a little difficult to keep in place with Blutack as it needs a good connection to the body to resonate - with your guitar only being 2 1/4 inches deep that could be hard to get the full sound out of it too, but you can strap it onto the back with heavy duty tape but that wouldn’t look so good! Not too sure on that amigo to be honest - maybe see if you can get to a guitar store to try it by holding it to the back of your guitar first to check the sound coming out that way before purchasing
All amps, regardless of manufacturer, change the tone of an acoustic. This unit seems like it would keep the fundamental tone of the guitar intact. I am also on the fence. I play nylon, and I am a little apprehensive.
I believe at least 3 faults, 1 - batteries don't last long so carry extra extra batteries > 2. it should be made to plug into electric when available ( if you practice at home or somewhere your killing batteries) 3. If you need to put in a case to take it > you have to disconnect it to fit into the case > that leaves the magnetic part floating around in the guitar doing possible damage > and who wants to keep loosening the strings to take it out. Better off with a mini amp connect to belt on your hip. Just saying > so for that the price is way to high..
From what I see, there are adhesive pads on that magnetic brace. It comes with an extra set. So after you've discovered your proper position, you simply remove the film and lock it in place for about an hour. The brace will no longer float around inside the guitar if the amp is removed. Or at least that is the theory.
It sounds like when the volume was up there was some distortion of the tone/effects, did you experience that in the room or was that just lost in translation through the mic?
I see what you mean - there’s no distortion, was just weird coming through the mic - I think feedback issues can happen if you up the gain too much though at times - this is also dependent on the pickup you have on the guitar. I’ve just bought a humbucking pickup and sounds way more balanced - I’ll try and film a update video soon to show that :) hope that helps friend :) blessings!
Alright alright, dammit, I'll buy one!! But really tho, thanks for this review/demo, man! I've been seeing it advertised to me for so long, I wasn't sure if it was legit but I'm glad it is and it works like magic! :D
Doesn’t damage the guitar in any way as it’s all magnets that attach it - just be gentle when attaching it as the magnets are strong otherwise all good to go!
@@paulajohnson6409 very easy to remove and put on just pops on and off but you will need to take it off to put in a hard case - in a soft case ok to leave on but I always take it off. Hope that helps
if you don’t have a pick up for your acoustic, you will need to get one though - but they do supply it also through their site. mine is just passive, not active with a battery power thats all.
I’m on the fence about buying this also. I’m getting older and my hands have some pain issues, and it hurts to play for too long, so I use electric light gauge strings on my acoustic. So would string size matter with the tonewood, as far as the effects not cutting in and out because the string size? It does sound beautiful!
Oh I feel for you friend. But I don’t think string size matters as it vibrates the sound from the back of the guitar and pushes the sound through the sound hole as usual - so as long as your strings make a clean sound Im pretty sure the effects would still be good. God bless :)
Gracias! Sounds sooooo cooool! Three questions, please. 1. Do you have to have a guitar pickup already installed on your guitar in order to be able to use the Tonewood Amp? 2. Hey! So after almost a year, what’s your opinion of the amp? Do you use it when leading worship or is it just for personal use? I’m the music director for our church and I’m considering getting one to use on Sundays as I don’t have room for floor pedals.
Still loving it and yes you can definitely use it for worship leading - it works like a direct di box to your PA system and effects are even clearer - you can dial in the mix of effect or not as you see fit. Love this thing and would still highly recommend it! Just make sure to have batteries in backup! Blessings brother and pray you lead with anointing and Holy Spirit filled power!! Cool little gadget but I can't for the life of me figure out why some companies still keep working with replacable batteries instead of having a fix battery and have it be USB-chargeable.
One good feature is this makes this product last forever, since, with replaceable batteries eventually the battery loses its usefulness and unless it itself is replaceable the product would be having a shelf life as you need a new one once the battery dies
